Restaurant at Paihia Beach Resort & Spa
Lunch menu has mains, Sides & very good desserts, nice surroundings, comfortable seating, great view across the bay, just before you get to Waitangi. Small indoor seating but masses of room outside round the pool, the seating was comfortable, lunch menu limited but well prepared, service was medium paced, the waitress was polite & friendly. Plenty of parking, lift access to restaurant & disability parking, hotel has very good spa, pool & terrace. There are deals for Spa, lunch & pool access at lunchtime, a good place to go for a girls day out.

We dined at Glasshouse for breakfast every day & dinner about 4 times while we stayed at the resort - the food was outstanding. The chefs accommodated our dietary requirements (gf,df). Staff are lovely.
It's a small restaurant so definitely book - but it's by far one of the best restaurants in the region.

We really enjoyed our meal to celebrate my birthday. We live in Paihia and this was first time we had gone to this restaurant. The lamb dish I had was so tender and the creme brulee delicious. My husband had the king salmon followed by tirimasu. We were both very impressed and look forward to returning. The restaurant has a small, intimate feel, but is also very open and bright, with beautiful views to the ocean. Our service was slow - but we were warned in advance that only one chef was on. Having that effective communication made all the difference between being disappointed and wondering where I food was, and being completely happy with a little extra time waiting as we knew the reason why and understood. Definitely recommend and can't wait to go back.

Two years ago when we visited this establishment it was the highlight of our Bay of Islands dining experiences. Tonight it underwhelmed, We had booked a table but the one we were allocated was right by the cold blast of the open door. Despite there being other reserved 4 seater tables, we were not permitted to move. Surely the other guests hadn’t booked specific tables? Not a great welcome! Service was timely but to remove plates while someone is still eating is not what you expect with fine dining.
We had entree of calamari which was delicious as was the duck. Unfortunately the salmon main was overcooked and had dried out slightly , the vegetarian eggplant offering looked so unappealing on the plate and had zero flavour. The pork belly unfortunately was lacklustre in terms of the “jus” and minuscule amount of apple sauce. Given that mains are around $40 & our recollection was of A+ service & sensation food we were left disappointed. Happy to pay those prices when everything is on point - but it missed the mark. We went back to Bad Habits for cocktails & dessert - wishing we’d made a better choice for our celebration dinner. I’d suggest try Charlottes Kitchen or Terra

A limited menu at mid to top range prices. Excellent service but average food. The red veggie curry lacked authentic flavour. The extra cost prawns were the star of the meal. The lamb dish was not good. The "kofta" balls were tasty but the lamb was fatty and smothered in salt. Difficult meal to finish. The panacota desert was the star of the meal.

It’s a pleasant enough location with a view of the bay, and on arrival the two staff were welcoming and friendly, but I’ll say more about our waitress. She was a nice young girl but obviously pretty inexperienced. It’s the first time ever I’ve had a bottle of wine delivered to the table, placed in an ice bucket and then left unopened. We waited but that was it, and so after a reasonable time I opened and poured the wine myself. The tap water that was served without request was appreciated but a refill was never on offer. OK that’s not a reason for any serious complaint but when she asked after the main course, “how was the meal” and I provided some frank feedback (as follows) and suggested she pass it on to the chef she cringed and indicated she was too frightened to do that. What’s the point? As to the feedback my lamb was grey, tough and very overdone. That really wasn’t an issue as you couldn’t taste it at any rate due to the multiplicity of sauces, herbs, pistachios, potatoes, capsicum, cucumber and other unrecognised veggies, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and chilli that accompanied and in some cases smothered what should have been the lamb hero. My wife had the “market fish” which was red snapper. This was better but overpowered by a smoked salmon sauce and other unnecessary accompaniments. It’s a great shame that the wonderful flavours of NZ lamb and seafood were subject to such unnecessary and overly complex treatment. We both had desserts which were fine but again somewhat overly treated with unnecessary additions. The wine a 2020 Sauvignon Blanc from “Fat Pig” vineyard, was excellent and at $35 a bottle great value.

Thank you for your review, I have spoken to my waitress about her performance and she now has had more training on what to do for next time, as she is young and learning, but is doing very well for her age. The chefs have also been advised of this, as our menu states all the flavors, but they are aware. We mostly get complimented for the flavors but I guess not everyone pallets are the same?

We chose to eat here mainly because it was pouring with rain and it was close to where we were staying. It was a good choice. The sole server was very efficient and did a great job. I appreciated the fact that she wore a mask. The food was very good too. Than you for a lovely dinner on a rainy night.

We had a fabulous breakfast when staying at the resort. We were a group of 5, and most of us had the eggs benedict. Others had the big breakfast and the toasted bagel. The presentation of the food was a standout, often not a lot of effort is made with breakfast dishes, but this was not the case here. The food tasted just as good as it looked. A few of us really like our coffee, and we all thought the coffee here was excellent. Service was nice and speedy too.

We were staying at the Paihai Spa resort and had the pleasure to dine at the Glasshouse cafe for breakfast numerous times. I particularly loved their omelette and the cappuccino was definitely the best we have tasted since arriving in NZ from Australia.
The restaurant is small with beautiful water views overlooking the bay . We also found the staff to be excellent, very friendly and efficient. Well done 👍

Lovely little restaurant with great sea views. We had big breakfast and Belgium waffles, both meals were very good and huge... so no one should go hungry. Latte was very good to. Lovely service and we are going back for lunch tomorrow lol.

We were staying at the Paihia Beach Resort & Hotel and decided on our second night (and as so good our third night too) to eat at the hotels restaurant. The food was second to none, beautifully presented, tasty and reasonably priced for such quality. We had the fillet steak the first time and the slow roasted lamb the second time. The chocolate fondant was also to die for!
Breakfast there was also amazing!

This place was recommended. albeit for brunch. But we decided on dinner due to time limits. The service was very slow. We were referred to as loveys. Had to ask for water. The meals were cold but the polenta chips were hot. but burnt. The menu wasn't very extensive . Limited choice. On a plus side. The decor and outlook was lovely. Sorry won't be back for dinner.

The food was fantastic, we stayed in the hotel adjoining for 2 nights and went to the restaurant on the first night, it was so good we booked again for the second night and even ordered some of the same food!
I’d definitely recommend this, very reasonably priced for the quality of the food.
The waiting staff were also courteous and friendly.
Oh and it has a beautiful view of the sea

Recently we stayed a the resort and went down for breakfast every day. Without. exception every item on the breakfast menu was superb. It was beautifully cooked and parented and filled us up for our day’s activities. The staff were attentive and friendly and well presented and spoken.

Dining by the ocean with lovely views out.
Could not fault the service or the meals.
I shared platter of seafood with all sorts of delicacies.
My husband had pork with a stunning sauce.
We are locals and we will be returning.
