After a week on the Cook Islands

After a week on the Cook Islands we were craving a good Spicy meal. We made a booking and had read the reviews noting that some people had waited a while for food. Our experience was excellent from start to finish. Welcomed by the owner who recognised my voice from the talker booking, great value Chardonnay and amazing lamb saag and chicken masala spiced perfectly and served with yummy naan and very served quickly. Looking around I would say order Indian for faster service than Thai! Excellent food and great value

Good value, tasty dinner

Whilst the decor is a bit school canteen, the location of this restaurant was pretty good, overlooking the beach. Judging by the number of guests dining there, we decided it must be worth a shot and luckily .managed to get a table. The offer two menus, one Thai and one Indian so I opted for thai chicken with chilli and basil whilst my husband had an Indian chicken curry and keema naan. All dishes were served with rice, making them great value, and were flavourful and plentiful. There was also quite a good range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks available. We enjoyed the meal and would recommend.

Very tasty and good portions

A midwinter Saturday evening and we arrived without a booking at about 6:40pm. We were seated straightaway and the place was busy. This is the only place we have even been to with a Thai kitchen and an Indian kitchen. We both opted for Indian, but what a great concept. From what we saw, people were happy with either menu and every dish looked appetising. Service was surprisingly quick and the draught (Somersby) cider ideal. Both our medium chicken dishes (korma and Madras) were just right in terms of heat and generous portions. The naan bread was large enough for two. The plates were hot (thank goodness) and we happily had a doggy bag for the leftovers. Loved it and excellent friendly service. We'll definitely be back the next time we are in the area. We suspect that in the summer season, it might pay to book, as we'd expect it to be very busy as it is probably popular with locals as well as holidaymakers. Pricewise, a tad more expensive than Auckland but that may be due to less competition.

Good food with a view.

Good food, good location, facing the sea. Staff are friendly, efficient, your seated quickly, the food arrives promptly, and very hot, it’s also good quality. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting this area, great value for money.

Hot Chilies Paste Stir Fried

We visited around 6:30pm on a Saturday night so the place was extremely busy. We waited about 40 minutes for our food to come out (I usually don’t mind waiting for food but as we were parked in a 30 minute zone, I was a little worried about getting a parking ticket, in hindsight I wish we ordered takeaway - the takeaway is slightly cheaper too) I ordered the Pad Thai (a little boring I know, but a classic) and I would rate it 3 stars. My partner ordered the Hot Chilies Paste Stir Fried and absolutely loved it, he rated it 5 stars. The staff were friendly and really fast at cleaning tables and getting bums in chairs. Overall I give this place 4 stars.

Thai and Indian Cuisine

The restaurant claims it has two separate kitchens with two sets of chefs from Thailand and India working to produce the food on offer. I’m not sure about that but we went for one of each (the Thai chefs are quicker!) and both came with twice as much food as you would ever eat and both were excellent. Come hungry or prepare to take home the remains for lunch the next day! Staff were so friendly and actually thanked you for coming so appreciate that with what I thought was a meagre selection of restaurants in the area you gave your business to their restaurant. The location is across the road from the Bag of Islands (see photo) so while it’s light it is a super location to have dinner

Indian & Thai Food

Interesting mix of Indian and Thai Food in downtown Pahia (such as it is) - there are actually two menus; one for each cuisine. Food was excellent, as was the service. When cruise ships are in town it gets crowded, but the waiter assured us it was worth the wait and he was correct. Good portion sizes, you may try well take home leftovers. Waterfront view.

Bad and stale food

The food served by this restaurant is below standards. Me and my partner took a takeaway from this restaurant and the food was so awful that I can’t explain in words. We ordered chicken kadhai it was smelling when we opened the container and the lacha paratha(kind of a naan) was not cooked properly. Waste of time and money . Would never go back there as they have no respect for the customers as they are serving poor quality food and charging for quality food.

A fantastic and Warm Lovely Indian Thai Restaurant

We had Kheema Naan, Peas Rice and Goan Fish Curry, I do have to say that the taste of Goan Fish Curry did not practically match with the Goan Taste being goan myself, but I have to mention they served us a very good food and the spices were well blended. Not to mention, the person who took our order was from North India Shimla , and he was very warm and welcoming, INfact the entire staff is. Wanted to have the desserts but unfortunately the one i wanted , wasnt available since the chef was not there on the day we visited.

A very busy restaurant in Pahia

A very busy restaurant on a Saturday night. We had Thai takeaway, beef and cashew stir fry and a side of rice. There was plenty for two people and the meal was delicious although if you like cashews, it may be worth ordering extra cashews for $2.50. The takeaway Service was fast. We would recommend this restaurant for delicious Thai food.

An unusual combination of cuisines

We both enjoyed our food, but neither dish (one Thai, one Indian) was exceptionally good. Other diners seemed to appreciate getting large quantities. The room was quite noisy, as if the room was amplifying the sounds of utensils and platters.

We visited Greens twice, because it was so damn good. There are two menus, Thai and Indian and both cuisines are delicious. The prawn dishes on the Indian menu are excellent, as are the Thai stir fry’s. Each main course comes with complimentary rice and the naan breads are crisp yet fluffy. Great, simple Food and amazing value for money. The welcome is warm and the staff are very efficient. Go here.

Mediocre food, terrible service.

We decided to dine in at Greens on a Tuesday evening. We were warmly greeted by the owner, but that’s where the niceties ended. We were told to sit at a table, and it took 20 minutes for wait staff to acknowledge us. Once they had taken our orders, we were left waiting another 40 mins until my wife asked the owner how long our food would take to arrived. From arrival time to food being served, we waited 65 mins. The green curry with chicken was ok. I ordered mild and it certainly had a kick and certainly didn’t have the amount of chicken I would usually expect in a dish. I certainly won’t be dining here again, nor recommending anybody else to dine here, either.

Tasty, but waaaaay too spicy!

I had the garlic pepper beef, requested it medium spice, and it blew my head off. My boyfriend had butter chicken, also medium spice, & his was great. It had a little kick but nothing like my dish. Decent amount of meat to sauce ratio. We had take away, so would have taken too long to return it and reorder. Spring rolls, were lovely, wasn't a fan of the butterfly prawns though. Would definitely have again, but have it mild or no chilli.
