Didn’t think I’d find a place to have breakfast at being a pizza sack.
The place was tidy, had friendly staff and good music pumping for the morning.
The breakfast menus were on the table, you just order at the counter,
I ordered the muesli with a side of hash brown, bacon and a caramel latte.
The meal arrived quickly, nothing fancy, just muesli in a bowl, and a small bowl of unsweetened yoghurt on the side, bit underwhelming and could so easily balanced with adding fresh fruit on the top.
Coffee was good, bit too sweet on the flavour shot.

We were having difficulty finding a venue for fairly early breakfast then found this one which seemed to be open at 730am. Felt a bit unusual to be having breakfast at a Pizza Shack but there was a good variety available. We had delicious scrambled eggs and Paihia Pancakes (served with crispy bacon, fresh banana & maple syrup) with our coffees. Really good service and great food with water views as well.

July 2023 - Dinner midweek. Nobody in the place but it looked promising. Barman/server acted like he could not be bothered to take our order or answer questions about beers. Yes we are tourists but we come bearing money.... pizza was mediocre at best. A promising effort based on the menu description but fell short on presentation. Plain sauce, tasty but sparse toppings, rubbery crust. Not many choices in town in the off season.

We shared a very average Pizza, lots of cheese. We also ordered a green salad. A handful of salad leaves, 3 small pieces of tomatoes, 3 thinly sliced cucumbers and even those were cut in half, it was smaller than a side salad in any restaurant and they charged us $ 18.00. What an absolute rip off!!

While the service and ambience of the establishment was very welcoming, the most important ingredient being the pizza was somewhat disappointing. The dough itself was not a pizza dough and there wasn't even a hint of any sauce being present in our pizza. Probably on par at best with any frozen pizza you can buy yourself from a supermarket.

Definitely won’t be back. Pizza are over priced, even before the holiday surcharge, and really small, nothing special. We were told 25-30mins wait and finally after an hour our 3 pizzas were ready, only then did they start the kids meal so the whole lot was cold by the time we left with our takeouts.

Amazing Pizzas
Great friendly service and they were willing to give advise and details on their product. Reasonable prices and sensational pizzas! The Gluten free base was the BEST!! Great atmosphere, quick service over the Jazz and Blues weekend. Definitely recommend this place for delicious Pizzas.

I should have stayed home and cooked, the breakfast was all items easily purchased at a supermarket, and that's exactly how it tasted. Eggs Benedict, served on an English muffin, dressed with a couple of baby spinach leaves, several rashers of overcooked, clearly kept warm bacon, and some hollandaise sauce from a squeegee bottle. Less than impressed. The full English was not a great deal better, however there was real bread involved. Won't be back, at least not for breakfast, the easiest meal of the day!

Friday lunchtime, latish, and not many people eating.
The pasta was advertised as home made (chicken and bacon, cream sauce) and was most enjoyable - $17.90. It would have been nice to have been offered extra parmesan and fresh ground pepper, but even without, it was enjoyable.
The 'medium' pizza, Hawaiian seemed overpriced for the size, as it only served 1 and was $14.80.
I'd asked for my coffee to be delivered with my food, but it came well before and I'd finished it by the time the food arrived.

Nice atmosphere, the place was packed.
We ordered two pizzas and a seafood fettuccine.
The pizzas were ok, we didn’t expect too much, the dough was all right but the meat lovers topping was a bit too sweet - maybe because of barbecue sauce.
The seafood pasta was so heavy, I think they used the heaviest cream with frozen prawn and canned mussels. I was hoping for a real treat in such a sea-connected area but disappointing, I could sense the citric acid in the mussel from the preservation.
I barely eaten half of that.
If you cannot do a decent seafood pasta, don’t put it on the menu!!!

We visited at the beginning of Easter 2021.
Such a disappointing meal - we spent 40 - 50 dollars and honestly, getting dominoes or Pizza Hut would of been better.
They forgot half our toppings and all of our sauces - driest meal of my life.
Please don’t waste your time or money.

There are a lot of cafe restaurants in Paihia serving the same cuisine. The point of difference for Pizza Shack is that it’s the only one that’s ‘beachfront’ and it’s very easy to stumble across.
We had a side-serving of crumbed squid rings before our two pizzas arrived. They were very nice and together with the contents of a pitcher of beer was a promising start. The pizzas were not nice so I’d suggest trying the other side of the menu. That is what I’ll be doing next time because our $90 meal didn’t win us over.

We ordered 3 pizza's for lunch for the family and we expecting really delicious pizza's seeing that that is their speciality being called the Pizza Shack but instead we received pretty ordinary bland pizza's. Not what we were expecting at all, no real flavour coming through. Sad we were really hoping this will be a good one to revisit.

The three of us were very happy with our meals. Two of us enjoyed the hotcakes with bacon & banana. The third ordered scrambled eggs & bacon that was a large portion. The coffee was delicious with no complaints from the three of us. Great service, would definitely go back again.

Once they turned the air conditioning on we were right! We had a hard time coming to a consensus about where to eat this evening. One can’t have seafood. One doesn’t like garlic! Nothing spicy. Can’t pay too much! So we were heading down to the waterfront to find something and as we crossed the toad we came across pizza shack. So one had fish and chips and rated it highly. One had salad and the rest had pizza. Not the best pizza I’ve ever but perfectly fine. Note that the pizzas actually came out bigger than we thought. The fish and chips was a good sized serve and came with a lovely fresh side salad. Was very reasonably priced. It was so hot in there though. But they finally turned on the air con and we were more comfortable. Only thing was that the pastas nearly all had a cream sauce. Other than that all good.
