Excellent Fresh Food

Decided to try this place for a quick snack. Friendly lady greeted us and we sat inside as the outside was busy. We shared a Bento Box for $29 and it was very good and well prepared. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Perfect stop for us

possibly best Japanese in Auckland :)

WOW... Many years ago proper restaurants used to have a Maitre'D (Maître d' is short for maître d'hôtel, which comes from French and literally means "master of the house). They would make you feel like your at your aunts house for a special occasion and charm you with their soft voice. Well this place definitely sticks to tradition and the Maitre'D is Sarasa. The Japanese owner (only been in NZ for 22 years) hosts all guests and making them all feel like VIP guests. Seriouslly impeccable service with genuine and traditional Japanese fare reminiscent of Tokyo Izakayas (I lived in Tokyo for 3.5 years and this place is as close as it gets for food, ambience and service). Quickest way to feel you are in Tokyo is grab a counter seat and chit chat with Sarasa and the Japanese staff. Order a bento box (actually very cheap at $32) and wash down with Asahi beers. Campai!!! Will be back Sarasa San :) Arigato Gozaimasu

Literally in the centre of Ponsonby Central, Tokyo Club is a great place for lunch and dinners. There's both indoor and outdoor seating depending on the weather and mood. Table sizes are limited so may not be appropriate for larger groups. The food and staff were excellent. The Boss Bento is my favourite which has a good variety of food items. There's a good selection of drinks as well (the straw is edible!). A go-to place for work lunches.

Rude and terrible service

We have visited and supported this business since it’s inception. Today, they lost a loyal customer who has spent thousands at this establishment. There is no excuse for racist and rude behavior and I am calling your restaurant out for this. While your average food is over priced, you need to respect your customers who have always supported you.

Excellent Food. Average service

We sat down; I got the eye of the chef she didn't smile and just nodded. We were ignored for another 3-4 mins. When the waiter provided us with the menu's, he was polite and professional. We ordered the food, The Boss bento box and the Tuna Salad. The Bento was served but the Tuna salad was served 15 plus mins after. I had finished my bento and we sat there waiting for the tuna salad. I went and spoke to the waiter, he didn't care just said sorry and looked away. Food-wise, it was excellent. Very tasty and for what you get, excellent value for money.

Tasty fresh food

I have Tokyo Club many times for lunch. They have a great selection of sashimi, sushi to be enjoyed as a shared platter or you can order your own self-contained meals. The food is fresh and tasty. They also have Asahi on tap and a nice selection of sake. I'll be back.

Takeaway sushi - great for self isolation :)

Self isolation sushi! Having just arrived home from COVID19 hot-spot London on Friday morning I was resigned to spending 14 days in self isolation. That means no hugs from wife and kids, and locked out from the kitchen. However, I woke in the afternoon to a wonderful surprise - a box of delicious teriyaki chicken and avocado sushi from Tokyo Club outside my door. Just what I needed after a long flight. Hoping that my family will bring me more takeaway sushi from Tokyo Club over the next 13 days of self isolation.

Food was Amazing

I met Sarasa one of the owner and she offered me a Grilled bento Lunch . The food was plenty of variety and is so good from starter to main dish also the soup was hot for the winter season. The service is so fast. I did enjoy and was so full that day. I highly recommend Tokyo Club at Ponsonby Central.

One of the best Japanese places in Ponsonby!

We had an excellent experience with the staff and atmosphere at this place! The food was amazing, and we felt like we were really in Tokyo while enjoying the Japanese izakaya menus and beer. The friendly staff were always checking on our table and providing great service. We highly recommend the bento box, dumplings, and Karaage chicken, which my boys absolutely loved. Overall, we had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Fantastic Birthday Lunch at Tokyo Club

This month is my birthday month so my best friend took me to the Tokyo Club for lunch. The fish was fresh, and the fried food was delicious. The staff constantly wore smiles and were very kind, providing wonderful service. I would love to come again with my family and friends next time. Thank you so much!

Raw Chicken Was A Complete Put Off

We ordered a Bento box and I could not eat it all so took it home. By the light of day, the next day I could see all the chicken was raw. Also had a chicken entree- that too was raw. Tried contacting the restaurant and got no reply. Most disappointed. Will never go back.

TOKYO BAY TAKAPUNA BEACH BETTER…..

Not as good as Tokyo Bay in Takapuna…. Very dark during the day too…. A very small space so felt a little cramped…. We both had The Boss Bento Box, it was a bit underwhelming having had plenty of Bento Boxes before….
