About
Le Souk or 'the Market' in French/Arabic, has brought couscous, the staple of Algeria to the Adelaide Central Market. An exciting 'food first', Le Souk offers freshly steamed couscous, prepared in the traditional way. Our menu reflects the cultural mix of Berber, Arab, Turkish, Jewish and French influences. Serving a range of regional dishes such as lamb in Ras el Hanout and sumac or chicken couscous in our Kefta Spice Mix (both slow cooked for 6 hours). Our version of chakchouka and house-made Merguez sausages are a 'must-eat'. Relax and sip our fresh mint tea or try our sugar&spice sugar sticks stirred into our 100% Arabica organic coffee. Being greeted with a big smile and engaging personality was a great way to start the day. The kids were in giggles and the jokes had the adults laughing too. Not only was the food amazing and service impeccable, but the accompanying knowledge and history...explanation to our endless questions, made for a phenomenal experience. I rarely go anywhere twice on holidays, but for this I will make an exception. Can not wait for more food, flavour, humour extravagance.More

This eatery is in the Adelaide Central Market. We stopped for lunch and had the best chicken paella and lentil soup with beautiful soft bread and crunchy crust. Service was quick and friendly. Next time we’re in Adelaide we will return here and try some...of the other dishes, they all look delicious.More

Azou's emporium of delights was a fantastic culinary delight! The open kitchen was a delight to observe. An extensive Algerian menu is sure to have something you would enjoy.

Le Souk is nestled in the heart of the Adelaide Central Markets. We were looking around for lunch and immediately as you walk past this stall you stop. The smell of the food coming from within the stall is devine, my mouth began to water.......We had the slow cooked lamb couscous, chicken couscous and a vegan/vegetarian paella. All dishes were absolutely stunning, the tastes and spices were delicious. Generous serves for what you pay. I will definitely eat there again, and again.... If you're at the markets do yourself a favour and try it. Seating is hard to get as appears to be very popular.More

Flavourful slow-cooked meats on home-made cous cous... just delicious! Super-fast, so a great stop while in the markets. A bit pricey but portions are large - with kids, consider sharing.

The lamb couscous and chicken paella was really good! A full mixture of flavour and spices so keep that in mind if you're not very into spicy/condiment food. The chickpea salad was good but very ”refrigerated” (I mean it was a long time in the...fridge, but tasted fresh). Service provided by the owner was nice and friendly!More

We tried the lamb couscous and paella and both were very good. It is all freshly made and they have a large pan where you can see the paella being cooked. The owner is very friendly and they offer great service. The adelaide market is...a great place to visit and has a great vibe.More
