Le Souk or 'the Market' in French/Arabic, has brought couscous, the staple of Algeria to the Adelaide Central Market. An exciting 'food first', Le Souk offers freshly steamed couscous, prepared in the traditional way. Our menu reflects the cultural mix of Berber, Arab, Turkish, Jewish and French influences. Serving a range of regional dishes such as lamb in Ras el Hanout and sumac or chicken couscous in our Kefta Spice Mix (both slow cooked for 6 hours). Our version of chakchouka and house-made Merguez sausages are a 'must-eat'. Relax and sip our fresh mint tea or try our sugar&spice sugar sticks stirred into our 100% Arabica organic coffee. Highly recommend this spot. My partner and I are in Adelaide for a few days so we decided to try something new. We ordered the chicken paella and vegetarian Shakshouka and were very impressed. The staff were very friendly and went the extra mile. They...even suggested a few cool places to visit while we are in town. Above and beyond. Overall a very enjoyable and memorable experience. 10/10 we will be back.More

Great friendly service. Went for a late lunch. Paella was reheated in a microwave in a melamine bowl. Still.. tasted pretty good but not evenly hot ( temperature)

Amazing breakfast, I'd had it in 2018 and returned in 2023 hoping it was still as good... It excelled!! Best breakfast and banter.

This hidden secret in the Adelaide market is worth searching out. Friend and prompt service with a real sense of genuine North African hospitality. The Lamb Tangine was one of the best dishes I had during a month in Australia as well as the best...lamb dish ... and this from someone who is not a super-enthusiastic North Arica/Middle East fan as well as much of a lamb eater. The only competitor is Bosnian spiit-roasted lamb, and even that is a tossup. Great couscous and sides.More

Really nice paella! Although quite crowded and few seating spaces. Bit unclear on how to order but overall nice location in central market, nice staff and good food!

Our hosts started by offering us some dates, not my scene but the missus loved them. We had a Paella and the shakshuka or however it is spelled (depends on the restaurant/area I guess) which is eggs baked in a tomato sauce with chorizo sausage....After it cooled down (takes a while, it's in a sizzling pan and still bubbling when served) it was amazing. Full of flavour and eggs done to perfection. The paella was also excellent. Coffee was nice, service is friendly and it's a great location in the markets for sitting and people watching. Will be back.More

We were introduced to spot by warm dates offered to us. Pleasant. Amazing to see the volume of North African Paella that was being prepared continually. Chicken Paella was generous in serve and tasty. Likewise the Vegetarian Paella.

Vegan Paella was absolutely superb and Adam behind the espresso machine makes great coffees served with care. Next time I'm in town I'll be trying a Chakchouka

The beetroot salad with baby peas and rocket was inedible! Tinned, vinegar soaked beetroot, tinned peas and no rocket! $7 for a bottle of 500ml of cheap sparkling water! Over charged with no explanation and a very arrogant attitude. We will never go near the...place again.More

Being greeted with a big smile and engaging personality was a great way to start the day. The kids were in giggles and the jokes had the adults laughing too. Not only was the food amazing and service impeccable, but the accompanying knowledge and history...explanation to our endless questions, made for a phenomenal experience. I rarely go anywhere twice on holidays, but for this I will make an exception. Can not wait for more food, flavour, humour extravagance.More
