Went out for diner with my partner and her parents. From the moment we walked through the door we had a lovely welcome from the host, he kept us entertained throughout the entire night and made us feel like we were part of the furniture!...The food was incredible and the staff were so polite. Couldn’t recommend anywhere else better for a meal out!More
Have already visited Olive few times and, to be honest, have never had anything major to complain about. The service is really good. There were few minor hiccups, but nothing major to spoil our experience. Well done!!!
Went here for a spare of the moment date night. Very accommodating considering we had not booked, we were delighted by our super polite, friendly and helpful waiter Storm, had some fantastic recommendations and couldn’t do enough to assist us would 100% return
Unfortunately I won’t be returning to Olive. We had a really challenging lunch there and the owners/staff seem completely unaware of the problems there.
Just a note to say I didn’t complain, their lack of insight made it very challenging to even consider complaining. Plus,...it feels very awkward and I was flustered.
But basically we ordered drinks and the person that brought them over managed to spill an ice cold drink all over my 9 month old baby. Thankfully my little boy was mostly quite calm about it but obviously needed changing. While we were there no one came to check on the baby or me and they barely mumbled a “sorry.” You would think you might get the drinks comped when something like that happens...nope!
When we came to order we looked at the menus available on the table. An adult 2 or 3 course “deal” menu, a children’s “deal” menu and a drinks menu. However, when we came to order we were told, very abruptly, that one table could not order from the adult and children’s “deal” menus. The children had to order separate meals as they weren’t allowed the “course deal” since the adults were ordering a “deal!” Absolutely ridiculous, especially when we weren’t even provided with another menu option.
Further, the food took a fair bit of time to come out (2 hours for 2 courses, when you have small children and one that’s been covered in a cold drink, is too long).
I had explained that I needed dairy free and could I have the gyro with no dairy. It came out with feta on the salad. That was taken back and changed. Then when it came back I noticed that there was yoghurt on the gyro. By this point I couldn’t be bothered, so I just ate it. The food is nice-but they’ve changed the menu a bit so although it’s well made they put the chips inside the gyro-which was a bit random!
Then the table wasn’t cleared often enough, so we knocked over a drink bottle. Then I had to ask for dirty plates to be taken away after the desserts had been brought out.
Going out for lunch with children can be stressful regardless, especially when they haven’t had many opportunities to experience meals out over the last year or so, but it’s always made easier/more pleasant with understanding and sensible staff in restaurants. Unfortunately this is a skill the staff in Olive seem to have forgotten over the last year too! Won’t be returning!More
Service was good and garlic mushroom starters were very nice for both of us. It was the mains that let the whole experience down. I had the lamb giro and my wife had the chicken giro, both were very light on sauce and meat. The meat...was dry in both meals. Expect better from an "up market" restaurantMore
What a fantastic meal. Could not find fault with it and we do try... Storm was extremely pleasant to be served by, keeping us well informed throughout, pleasure to be served by him so hope he enjoyed the half bottle of wine we left him...xxMore
Having always been one that always compliments the Olive on its food and atmosphere i had an experience just before the last lockdown that left a bad impression on my wife and i.As i stated previously the lockdown has prevented customers using the Olive for...most of 2020 so while studying the menu and having a pre meal drink we asked the manager if we could use our gift card which because of restrictions we could not use when we wanted to as it was closed and explained the card was TWO DAYS past there use by date,he told us that we could not use are gift card as it had gone by its use by date and turned his back and walked away.
Needless to say we where disappointed by his attitude as he seemed to forget there has been a world pandemic going on and we though they would honour the gift card as most places are extending the length of them to make up for closures but not so this restaurant.IT DOESN T COST ANYTHING TO BE NICE.More

Best to phone directly as the website can be unreliable. We tried to book but the website said they were fully booked. We thought it odd so phoned them and they had plenty of places spare. We alerted them to the website... More

oh I think this would be an excellent choice for a first date, especially if you want to make a good impression. Far too many people opt for a more relaxed, casual first date, such as coffee, or a drink in the Saxon etc, where as I think that little extra effort goes a long way.
I realise this is an old question, but I hope you had that date and it went well for you wherever you chose.
