Obi is a contemporary Japanese/Asian Fusion Restaurant based in Saint Julian's. Primarily serving Japanese cuisine but with a modern twist. The food is presented in a very stylish way and is delicious. The decor is modern and stylish. The service is very attentive and friendly. The cost considering all this is very reasonable as Japanese Restaurants have a reputation for being expensive. Obi is the best Japanese Restaurant in Saint Julian's. Go there - you won't be dissapointed.

Worth a visit - Remarkable and exceptional!

Can’t recommend this place even more! A breath of fresh air in St Julian’s! We have been residing in Malta over 4 years and this year staff party was held at this restaurant - we already booked it for the following year! They arranged a tasting menu for the 25 of us with cocktails and food. Stellar service, they took good care of us all. We have been to many Japanese restaurants and sushi but nothing like Obi. 100/10

Beautiful piece of art with exceptional food, amazing atmosphere and great service. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly and managed to pair food with drinks which match perfectly. Will recommend Obi Japanese Fusion at anytime!

…. So far away from Japan-a mistery

The OBI does a lot of advertising and sees itself on an equal footing with the AKI - LOL, the operators are so far away as Malta from Japan. As a starter, we had a Belly Salmon, two small skewers with some salmon, medium raw grilled, unfortunately presented with little taste, boring. this after 30 minutes of waiting. The 2nd starter was lost in the kitchen ..... instead the ordered sushi came. Crispy Prawns and Spicy Tuna. A good sushi impresses with the combination of a perfectly cooked sushi rice, high-quality ingredients in a tuning of drops from sauces to achieve this umami effect. The Obi can't offer any of this, the rice is a tragedy that rolled sushi too much and absolutely tasteless, no crispy, no umami, nothing. To make matters worse, everything is covered with a Spicy mayonnaise, a drama that we waited 45 minutes for after the starter. 20 minutes later came the 2nd starter, a special tuna sushi with foie gras and and and and …. 5 pieces for 14.50€ How you can prepare something tasteless with so many ingredients is a mystery to us, but we had to let it go back. A level below a sushi take away. Conclusion- 100€ burned in a restaurant surrounded by a crowd of children, teenagers and little ambience. The service was very nice at the beginning, but when we complained, we were left behind and finally brought the same sushi that had already been eaten...... This to the kitchen organization.

Best Japenese Fusion in Malta!

Dinner at Obi was by far the best experience we had in a long time - if I had to compare this to another restaurant such as Aki - hands on heart - the expirence we had was a run for their money. We had a mix of starters and then some sushi and mouthwotering noodles. This place is wicked, service is out of this world, staff are well trained and focused and the best thing that they make you feel like home. For the both of us it tallied up to 111.50 and we left a 20€ tip Best Maltese Japanese fusion! Kudos OBI

New in town and off to a great start

I must admit, when I hear "Fusion", I would typically run for the hills. This is likely because the terminology where I come from is abused trying to sell something mediocre as something special and then attach a big price tag to it. Not at the Obi. The Obi has lifted Fusion cuisine to a level I have not yet discovered. Their dishes are thoughtfully composed and flavours amalgamted to generate a new experience that is truly enjoyable. Whilst it may sound as being a taste to be acquainted, I loved my main dish: Udon noodles with beef and curry sauce - that was a true discovery. Innovative in design of the menu and good quality craftsmanship in preparation. This is a place to return to and if you are like me, having made mediocre experiences with Fusion cuisine in the past, go here and you'll start to love it instantly.

Thank you Obi Japenese Fusion! Even tho thry werre busy and packed they still managed to fit us in. It was worth every penny- food was impeccable (flavour, portion, presentation). Atmosphere wow! Ssrvers all busy, focused and knowledgeable. A huge range of wines, cocktails and beverages. A shout out to Mr. Bryan and Head Chef 10/10

Wonderful evening with amazing food

Excellent food in a fantastic atmosphere. Incredible flavor combinations for people who expect the highest quality. We (4 people) visited Obi yesterday and were flabbergasted at the wide selection of interesting dishes and the variety of vegan and non-vegan options. Our server Maria was very attentive and made our stay last forever in our memory thanks to her helpfulness. Even though we’re only staying on Malta for a week we’re definitely going to visit Obi again.

OBI is an excellent Japanese restaurant serving some of the most delicious sushi dishes in the city. I was impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the creativity of the dishes. The restaurant has very good prices, making it an even better choice. The service was very friendly and attentive, which made my visit very pleasant. I would definitely recommend OBI Malta to anyone looking for a Japanese restaurant that offers delicious sushi at a reasonable price.

Perfect night in Obi

I would like to say that I enjoyed in perfect dinner in Obi, everything was delicious and fresh, but I especially liked the service. Miss Nittu was extremely polite, kind and with a big warm smile. She knows her job very well and if I come back here, she will be one of the main reasons. Me and my sisters felt really special being her guests. Sladjana

Outstanding in every respect. Firstly the decor is beautiful and stylish. The seating is also really comfortable. The food is exquisite and very well presented. Everything was delicious, the dim sum, sushi and the mains. A great wine list too. We didn’t try the cocktails, but they looked great. What made the meal really special was the staff who were all really attentive without being in anyway overbearing, especially Nitto who made us and our children especially welcome. It’s rare to find a restaurant that nails it in every area, but Obi does. Don’t miss out, go try!

The Pinnacle of Sushi Excellence in Malta - Obi

Dining at Obi during our visit to Malta was an experience that still lingers in our memory. This gem, tucked away in St Julien, unquestionably outshone all other sushi spots on the island, most notably Aki and Tora. Our server, Jitendra, was exceptional. His prompt, attentive service and thoughtful recommendations greatly enhanced our dining experience. His suggestion of pairing our sushi with a side of teriyaki sauce, along with the conventional soy, proved to be an ingenious culinary twist that we hadn’t encountered elsewhere. The sushi rolls, crafted with precision and flair by Chef Gouind, were a taste sensation. We indulged in the Royal Volcano Roll, the Spicy Tuna Roll, and the Blow Torch Roll. Each roll was a delectable explosion of flavors that far surpassed what we had previously tasted at other sushi restaurants on the island. Compared to the offerings at Aki and Tora, Obi’s sushi was in a league of its own, both in terms of flavor intensity and creativity. Our sushi feast was perfectly complemented by a bottle of beautifully chilled white wine and a side of impeccably crispy fries. The wine and fries added different dimensions to our meal, making it a truly immersive dining experience. In summary, Obi sets the gold standard for sushi in Malta. From Jitendra’s impeccable service to Chef Gouind’s culinary masterpieces, every aspect of our experience at Obi was superior to what we encountered at other popular sushi restaurants like Aki and Tora. If you’re in Malta and crave sushi, make a beeline for Obi. And don’t forget to take Jitendra’s advice on the teriyaki sauce - it’s a game changer!

We tried a lot of things from the menu and everything exceeded our expectations, the staff were very professional and helpful and the quality of both food and beverages were amazing. It was simply an experience that we will never forget.. I’d gladly recommend it to everyone who loves Japanese and fusion cuisine. Complements to the whole team.

Best food during our whole vacation to Malta. Our waiter Zulfi was top class and made sure that we had the first drinks on the table just a few minutes after our order and the food came straight after. Don’t miss out on the drink Yume and the Aromatic Duck Gyozas.

An unforgettable experience

This was our first visit at OBI. It was also our first experience of eating their kind of food. We have trusted their staff in bringing out a selection of what they think is the best for us rather than selecting our specific items.They managed to impress! The food was mouthwatering .The cocktails were just perfect! The place ? The place is just heavenly. We were in good hands! The staff were very helpful! Especially Brian! We were lucky enough to be surprised by his guitar and singing skills which made our night extra special ☀️ The price? Value for money and very affordable for what we were given. Will definitely visit again!
