It’s been a long time since I can genuinely say that we were ‘blown away’. The decor and design of the place were enough to know that it was going to be a 5* experience. We were not wrong.
The host was polite and accommodating, allowing us to choose our own table (not because it was quiet, because they work on a no reservation policy).
I would like to write 10 pages, but I’ll keep this short. The cocktail menu is extensive but very exciting (avocado and beef jerky!?) snow it worked beautifully.
We shared 6 dishes from their ‘sharing style’ menu and they were executed perfectly. South American cuisine, prepared by a South American kitchen, using South American ingredients... can’t go wrong. Even the coffee blend was South American.
Let’s just say, we will be back, and will recommend to couples, groups and corporate events. Well done all! Credit where credit is due, good service isn’t easy to find, our waitress Iva was great!

We were most impressed with Mestizo as soon as we stepped through the door on Thursday evening. Soft background music and tall, green plants compliment this relaxed dining experience. Our server, Flora, was very efficient throughout and when the various dishes were served to our table we were delighted with the flavours as well as the generous portions. Excellent value for money! … and so was our bottle of Chilean wine that we shared between us.

Very expensive, would be steep for London let alone Malta.
€10 for a tasteless aubergine
Bad recommendations from waiting staff on vegetarian dishes
Very slow and inattentive service, such drinks arriving 15 mins after food
Staff lack wine knowledge; even when they’ve made the recommendations
Nobody asked how the food was, most was bland

No visable management

Worst place I’ve been to in Malta.
I’ve been here for a week, and this place has by far the worst meal I’ve eaten. We had a guacamole and the 3 “tortilla” chips (€6) were so tough, then roasted corn (€12) was just sliced corn on the cob! Plus we added a Picachna and it was literally 4 slices of super thin beef with a bit of splodge… this was €17!
The poor waiting staff seemed confused and stressed, while the managers just really didn’t care.
Interior design is nice though, just don’t go there for food!

This restaurant has easily some of the most amazing combinations of flavor profiles in their dishes. We could hardly decide on what to ordered but finally we were not disappointed in the slightest.
The food is amazing, topped off by carefully crafted cocktails and Longdrinks.
The whole waitstaff + management was incredibly kind and welcoming, explaining the dishes carefully and making fitting recommendations.
We hope to come back some day for a romantic dinner night!

My Mestizo experience for my partners Birthday was top notch, the service was highly attentive and friendly, accompanied with very well made cocktails. The ambience was relaxed without being overly pretentious... nice, chilled vibe. The Latin American dishes are refined/very well presented, similar to tapas… providing a wide variety of delicious South American flavor and textures combinations.
I was pleasantly impressed, so was my Colombian partner. We have to admit… there wasn’t much we could really fault. If I had to be super picky… I was hoping for a bit more than 1 birthday candle with the dessert, maybe at least a birthday message to put the cherry on top. Nonetheless, this was easily one of the best meals we’ve experienced in nearly 4 years of living in Malta. Easily a solid 8.5 poss 9 out of 10.
I would happily recommend the Hammets Mestizo experience and look forward to my next visit 👌🏼

We visited Hammett's Mestizo not knowing much about the restaurant or the food served. We are so glad we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. The food was unique and delicious, and dishes were recommended to compliment one another by our excellent Server, Marion. If we could give Marion 6 stars we would! Marion patiently explained the options as well as the tasty cocktail menu, and even knew that a particular desert was unavailable which the manager failed to mention! Thank you Marion and Hammett's Mestizo for a lovely evening. We hope to return one day.

This place has a very cozy and special atmosphere. The waitress Flora provided a top service!
The food is served to be easily shared. I'd recommend ordering at least 2-3 portions to have a full meal for one person. Pachamanca is fantastic and Lomo Saltado was absolutely tender and melt in my mouth.
South American taste at its best!

We had a lovely experience eating at Hammett's Mestizo. Our serving Mateo was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.
The plates are for sharing, we had six plates to share between three people and then a dessert each (pictured). Highly recommend.

On our last night in Malta we visited Mestizo and had a delightful meal. Our server Camila was very attentive and explained well the restaurant's concept of sharing dishes. We started with a delicious peruvian pisco sour. We then shared the duck with mole sauce, the arepa with chicharrón, the caribbean tataki, the asado negro (the tastiest beef ever) and the eggplant en nogada. The combination of flavors and textures on all the dishes was wonderful.
This meal was the perfect ending to our week-long stay in beautiful Malta.

First time visiting Hammet's Mestizo for lunch and we give it a solid 10/10. Camilla our server was very helpful and sweet, explaining to us the menu and concept and checking on us to see if we need anything throughout our lunch.
Place is beautiful and the food concept is also amazing. We cjose 6 dishes (apart from desert) and were full at the end and very satisfied. Highly recommend it. Cocktails also really nice.

We’ve been to Hammett’s Mestizo twice now and really enjoyed both of our visits- the atmosphere is super nice and the interior very classy, with a tad of a clubby vibe going on. The food has always been outstanding, with every dish being a hit and having a great flavour profile. This is miles away from your usual south-American restaurants where you’re served Americanized/ watered-down versions of local dishes! Really enjoyed our waiter Camila as well who was extremely attentive and cheerful and gave good recommendations. We’ll definitely come back!

We went to this restaurant on a Saturday night at 6pm just in time for happy hour, half price cocktails!!
Had two starters and two mains to share. All of the food and wine were excellent.
The staff were very attentive and explained the meals well.
The amubuance was great and is the sort of place where you would gtaze through the menu.

We went to Mestizo on a friend’s recommendation. It was a fantastic experience. The setting is luxurious but relax at the same time. I loved the decor, a mix of industrial feel (copper tones and black metal structures) with a touch of rainforest (vertical veg wall and plants scattered across the space). This cuts the enormous space into smaller, more private and intimate sections. Flora our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. Coming to the food review, it’s a tapas style restaurant but the portions are quite generous. Among all the dishes we ordered, my highlights were the ceviche mixto and the antipasto de atun. The balance of flavours was perfect throughout and the ceviche cured fish and seafood was to die for. All the best Mestizo.
Btw, our friend has now been upgraded from good friend to really good friend
