Some signs of a decline? The service remains excellent, and the quality of the food remains excellent as does that of the wines. The surroundings with such glorious views across the Swan River to King's Park, Perth CBD and up the river towards Herrison Island remain as spectacular as ever. But a dynamic has changed! Rumours (unconfirmed) of a change of hands, or of the involvement of an additional sleeping partner - whatever it is, something has skewed the dynamic and Mister Walker is not quite the same.
Whilst we are all also aware that the cost of living crisis has caused prices to rise worldwide since the COVID-19 pandemic, can any business justify a 33% increase in prices and yet a corresponding reduction in the amount of food on the plate?
My partner and I always enjoy the Ocean Platter, and although the quality and freshness were still there, the portions were very definitely reduced - the oysters were some of the smallest I have ever seen (and yet an adjacent table was served with much larger oysters) - so whilst Mister Walker is selling small oysters au natural at $6 each, I can buy freshly shucked extra large South Australian oysters at my local fish shop for $30 per dozen - something is not right there. The quality of the rest of the platter was equally excellent but the portions noticeably smaller. I would add that the squid is probably the finest and most tender (melt in the mouth) to be found in Perth.
Sadly, the slowness in clearing tables was also noticeable. This used to be accomplished quickly once it was apparent that diners had finished their course—today, we waited some 10 - 15 minutes.
There also appeared to be a communication problem between the wait staff and the kitchen, as we ordered two Kilpatrick oysters and two Natural oysters but received four Kilpatrick.
Mister Walker still remains one of the premium Perth restaurants with regard to its cuisine and price range but needs to look to its laurels as those laurels appear to be slipping. Sadly, it has t be said that my partner and I will not be returning to MIster Waker given the lowering of standards.

We had family visiting from the UK and thought this would be a nice choice as the views of the city at night are spectacular. The wine was great, food was ok but the service let the evening down. We were having a great time until we had to pay our bill. The staff member who was in charge of front of house was officious, rather rude and put a dampener on what should have been a lovely experience. The last time we went there was about 3 years ago for a large family Christmas gathering, the same person served us and we had a similar experience. Not sure we will be hurrying back.

We had dinner here on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full but the staff didn’t miss a beat. We ordered two serves of garlic bread as a starter and then shared the three platters- butcher, seafood and lamb banjo. The lamb was the stand out dish. This fed all six people with no room for desserts, but clouding the wonderful icecream platter. Two thumbs up guys. This was spot on!!

Restaurant was filled booked so ordered gluten free fish and potatoes from their kiosk. I thought because everything at the outdoor kiosk came from the same kitchen as the restaurant that it would be good. I have to say it is the worst fish I have had in years, The fish was oily and had a bad taste to it. The batter was chewy. Very disappointed , would not eat here again. Poor quality fish, almost in edible.

I visited with my partner a few days ago and was SO disappointed. The staff were lovely and very helpful but I was so shocked at fact that there was NO aircon in 43° degree heat. It was like being inside an oven!!! It would have been much more appreciated to have a phone call warning us about these conditions than sitting in boiling heat and not enjoying our food. The food was nice but overpriced and we couldn’t eat much because it was so uncomfortable in the heat. Will not be back again.

Unique location, great seafood and excellent service. Couldn’t ask for more. My wife and I asked for a nice table indoors and we well looked after, sitting in the high chairs with beaut views of the city at night. More standard tables inside accommodate larger groups, but don’t seem to have as good a view. They had a reasonable selection of wines and beverages; our Margherita’s and Margaret River Chardonnays went well with the seafood. Recommend having the hot olives, cool natural oysters and warm scallops for entree. We had a couple of different fish of the day for mains, also excellent. Side salads perhaps a tad small but fresh and delicious. Most dishes offered are gluten free, which helped us too. Recommend parking in the well lit underground car park opposite the restaurant in The Esplanade for convenience, just be prepared to manoeuvre a narrow entry/exit. Great restaurant, look forward to trying them out soon for breakfast too.

Went for a morning tea service slow finally ordered large coffee ended up with a small cup that was luke warm apple muffin turned up after l finished coffee on a warm plate with a cold muffin and to top it off they don't split the bill which makes it hard in a cashless society.
On the good side the view over our Swan River to Perth is very good. But I will have morning tea elsewhere.

Been here 3 times prior all gr8, but our last visit something has changed, meal sizes reduced, quality of food reduced, understaffed, long waits for service, grilled fish was bland, supposedly hand cut fresh chips oily and soggy.
Our entree share plate the pork was tough and av flavour, we complained about the entree and at least we weren't charged for it.
I also complained about the chips, nothing done, and i am a lover of chips but couldn't eat them, left on the plate, along with my so called salad which was just cabbage with some dressing, worst meal i have had in years anywhere.
At least 2 of all our meals were ok.
For the price we paid none of us will ever go back again.

Location is great. Restaurant is loud and busy. Waitstaff were stressed. Menu was rather inflexible with all dishes containing garlic. Went for the baked Alaska only to arrive and it had been removed from the menu. My only option was the fish and chips (only thing on the menu with no garlic) and this being a dish I never order anywhere hence lack of options. The dish itself was acceptable and arrived unseasoned. It really needed slices of lemon. Salt and pepper was on the table. The tables were packed so tightly it was hard to get to the end seat of a ten seater table. Affagato served too fancy, served in a wide martini glass when it really should be in a low ball glass to be thoroughly enjoyed. Personally this is my a place I would return to or highly recommend.

This is a lovely venue, ideally positioned over the Swan River and opposite Perth city. We chose to sit inside at a high table so we could see the surrounds. The menu is reasonably diverse and there is something for everyone. There was plenty of staff and we were seated quickly and fed quickly. My cocktail (Mojito) was flat, made with water not carbonate water, it was replaced free of charge. My battered Ling came out as pan fried Barramundi. My wifes beef curry and gnocchi ragu was tasty but very gluggy, she suffered all night. Tonight our meal selection was very poor. I note that it is becoming very difficult to find a restaurant in Perth that you want to go to for a meal. I can cook better, balanced meals myself at home. Still as regards Mr Walkers, tonight was the exception rather than the rule. After a little break we will try again.

Ordered the fish and chips (Snapper) with salad for us both. It arrived within 10 minutes but the fish was only luke warm, the chips not hot. The salad was nice. Snapper didn't have flavour. The batter was "flat and soft" and looked liked it had been fried earlier then microwaved. We told the waiter twice that it didn't taste right and seemed like it had been microwaved to heat up as batter was soft and not crispy. We were assured it hadn't been. We mentioned it was not at all nice and we were unhappy. She said she was sorry and walked away. We paid for our meal at full price, no apology or even recognition of our dissatisfaction or offer to make fresh. We live in the area and are regulars at Mister Walker and have often recommended Mister Walker to our friends and visitors, we'll be looking elsewhere so disappointing as our 46th Wedding Anniversary.

I was seated next to reception with my two freinds, not a good spot! Then the owner decided to have an argument with a customer who table was not avaiable when he and his girl freind arrived. This went on for 20 minutes making us feel very uncomfortable. On top of this when i got up to pay the bill this customer was leaning on the reception bar and i was unable to access the the person to settle my bill, on my request for this person to please shift hae turn and said to me , dont you look at me like that!
The food was good plus the service was also good and freindly, the Owner just needs to be aware not to ferform like this in front of other customers. very uncomfortable feeling.

Having been to Mr Walker for breakfast and Christmas set menu lunch on 2 prior occasions, I booked for my husband's birthday dinner. My son joined us.
We were disappointed with the size of the main meals. My son ordered battered fish and chips and when it arrived he said 'Is this a child's portion?' My husband ordered the ink seafood pasta which was served in a large bowl, it was tasty but there was just not enough of it. I ordered the $40 fish of the day which was a fare size but would have been even better if it was not covered in raiti, this should have been served on the side.
The restaurant was full and busy, it was a Wednesday night, there were not enough wait staff, they were run off their feet. We waited half an hour to have our dinner plates to be removed and to ask for a dessert menu. We ordered one dessert fearing the portion size would again be small which it was.
I would return here for drink as the location is fantastic but will not return for food. It was not value for money and we left disappointed and hungry. Could have been so much better. Totally underwhelmed!

A short walk from our accommodation in the South of Perth for breakfast, tick!
The setting, atmosphere & location was spot on.
We were seen too & served very quickly.
I ordered The Harvest - eggs how you like em, toasted sourdough w/ mushroom & potato ragu, tomato, avocado, spinach, cauliflower curry hummus, & Mister Walkers baked beans.
B ordered The Hunter - eggs how you like em, toasted sourdough w/ smoked bacon, grilled chorizo, tomato, mushroom & potato ragu & Mister Walker’s baked beans.
I ordered soft poached eggs & they came out well done, writing this review, there was no spinach. The beans were a little under cooked BUT guys, their homemade baked beans sauce was EVERYTHING!! I gobbled everything up & washed it down with a giant mug of dirty chai.
All in all, we enjoyed it. Great setting & service.

Waited 50 minutes for breakfast to come out and restaurant was almost empty. When it did coffees were cold. The food also was cold/lukewarm and tasted old and stale which was bizarre considering the time it took to arrive. The owner or manager asked us if we liked the food and we tried some feedback but was met with offended vibes and defensiveness so we gave up.. but it was clear the food at this place does not reflect the price… you are paying for a view, not good food quality. You get a bigger and better quality breakfast at Dome for half the price. Honestly one of the worst if not the worst breakfast I’ve had in Perth.
My tip definitely also be avoid the waffles as these were so bad and stale.. and avoid the big breakfast it is not worth the money.
