During our Team Building with NGM, we had the opportunity to dine at The Shack in Baler for our last dinner. Our arrival at the restaurant was slightly delayed due to our visit to the breathtaking Mother Falls in Barangay San Luis. Despite the slight...delay, we were in for a treat at The Shack. The food at The Shack was a delightful blend of flavors, although some dishes leaned towards the spicier side. However, the spiciness didn't overshadow the deliciousness of the dishes, and everyone seemed to enjoy the unique taste. It's always a pleasure to discover restaurants that offer a distinct indian food experience, and The Shack certainly delivered in this regard. It's worth noting that The Shack has a closing time of 9 pm. So, if you plan to visit, it's advisable to arrive early to fully savor the dining experience without feeling rushed. In terms of seating arrangements, our group occupied two tables at The Shack. One was a long table, accommodating a larger number of people, while the other was a shorter table. This setup allowed for some to be comfortable seating but some of us were not because of some nails on their chairs. I guess the management should look into this . For those concerned about parking, The Shack conveniently offers parking spaces located at the back of the restaurant. This thoughtful amenity ensures that diners can easily find a place to park their vehicles, minimizing any inconvenience. All in all, The Shack in Baler is a must-try if you happen to visit Baler, Aurora. With its delicious and slightly spicy food, comfortable seating arrangements, and convenient parking, it's a delightful dining spot for both locals and tourists alike. Make sure to include it in your itinerary for a memorable culinary experience during your visit to Baler.More

A must try when in Baler. Not a fancy resto BUT the offerings could rival that of more expensive ones. Staff are very accommodating! Aesthetics could be improved. Food was great. Most of it was for sharing! Price is justifiable to its portion and taste.

When in Baler, visit this restaurant! It has one of the best cuisines in town and definitely the best Indian food around! We have been coming back a lot, since we can't have enough of it. Having launched a Vegan/Vegetarian Menu the restaurant offers lots...of choices for those with a diet preference. We've tried it all and were very satisfied with every dish.More

We discovered this place by accident since we were checked in at the front of the Shack, I was surprised that there was an Indian restau in Baler and I was skeptical at first that it would good. But thankfully I was wrong! The taste...was really great especially the Ross Egg. I did not expect that there would be an Indian food that is great for breakfast. I have tried many of their dish and so far all of them did not disappoint. The taste was always on point and I can't wait to be back in Baler just to try their food again!More

The restaurant is a modest inconspicuous place near the old light house. The food are great, flavorful and with deliciously authentic Indian taste. Price is reasonable.

Baler doesn’t really have depth in food options, so finding an Indian restaurant amidst the sea of liempo shacks was a great surprise. Then, seeing that all the dishes - including the biryani - are made from scratch and not a mix by an Indian...chef gave the Shack complete legitimacy. The food overall was good - dare I say even more authentic than most of Manila’s Indian options. Be prepared to wait a little while for your food, however. And one minor change I would make is to debone the fish before using it in the biryani. But, kudos to the Shack for adding some color to Baler’s food scene!More

We originally came here on sat night at 7pm but they were already closed for the night. Glad we came back for breakfast. They had a separate breakfast menu which had two vegan options channa masala and potato bhaji with chapatis. The food was great....We pretty much ate all our meals in chalie does and we love the food there. The shack is another good option for vegans and vegetarians visiting baler.More

One weekend in December 2017, 3 friends and I planned a trip to Baler. We searched online and stumbled upon a cozy looking accommodation called Old Parola Seaside Cottages. With its beautiful traditional design (more wood, less concrete) and proximity to the beach, it was...the perfect choice. As soon as we arrived, we immediately noticed The Shack right across the street. All 4 of us happen to be huge fans of Indian food, so we decided to enjoy our first Baler meal at The Shack. As it turned out, we enjoyed our second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth meals there too. We didn't bother trying anything else and pretty much went through the entire menu that weekend. The head chef is an Indian-Portuguese guy named Everest, and we loved hearing him share his life journey and passion for good food with us. No curry pastes from the supermarket here; he mixes all the raw spices himself, which he brings home from India every few months. He also doesn't serve certain menu items like fish and beef if there's nothing fresh available from the market or nearby farms. Top tips: 1. Get the chana masala, cuchumber salad and eggplant. But really, everything is good. 2. Skip the rice, eat with your hands and LOTS of handmade chapati bread. 3. If you're a spice lover, ask for "INDIAN SPICE". Thanks for the wonderful stay, Everest and The Shack family. We'll be back!More

Ordered their Chicken Biryani and Beef Samosa and boy, they are indeed delicious!! Biryani was satisfyingly prepared and it has the distinct aroma of spices normally associated with Indian cuisine. Samosa was also very tasty and freshly cooked, together with its own sauce (to which...I don't know hot to call it!!) The iced tea was also surprisingly refreshing. I wish I ordered two servings instead of one. Staff was also very attentive and responsive. They will make sure you will have a gratifying meal. Late lunch, 23 December 2017More

The shack was for me the place to be in Baler! We've been in Baler with a group of 4 for 1week. We tried different places snd this was the best! The food was delicious. We ordered Indian food from the menu and another time...we bought fish from the market and let them prepare it. Everything was outstanding (and reasonalbe cheap)! But the most amazing thing about the place was the kindness and hospitality of the staff! Everest, Jessu, Ean and Eddie were the nicest people we have met in the whole of our trip! Thank you guys for making our stay in Baler awesome! You are the best!More

This is THE WORST Indian restaurant I have ever experienced. I can only guess that the Goan guy who owns the place was off sick. This was my order: Chicken tikka: It came with its own watery, tasteless sauce. The chicken contained not only bones...but fat and skin as well. Hardly any spice at all. Potato aloo: Potatoes were chopped into small cubes and then not cooked enough, leaving them semi-hard. Very little spice again. Plain Paratha: Actually quite pleasant Also, I ordered three or four fresh chillies as a side dish. This was forgotten about, I guess. I am trying very hard to forget about this culinary nightmare but that is not going to happen soon! Be warned!More
