Visited La Lune with my elderly mother last week. The food was good though the service was slow, probably due to being quite busy. My issue was the attitude of the staff who, to begin with, seemed miffed that we didn't want wine, (my mother has never drunk alcohol in her life). No biggie. But my mum, who doesn't go out to eat much and is slightly deaf struggled a bit with understanding the menu (all titles in french) and no clear explanation of what was in the dish for the non-Francophiles. I also felt that the staff talked down to her a little bit as she was unclear about what she wanted and what was on offer and again struggled with hearing the blunt explanations from the wait staff. So disappointed that a venue would behave in that manner towards an elderly person. So even though the food and coffee was good, won't go back.

Took my best friend of 45 years for lunch before she headed back to the Gold Coast.
I had eaten here before and remembered how gorgeous the restaurant is inside and how good the food was.
When we arrived we were offered a couple of different tables to sit at, our choice, once seated it took a while for our server to be interested in us.
Water and menus given. When we were ordering, our server was very annoyingly flicking his pen whilst waiting to hear our order. I was almost ready to tell him where to shove the pen.
We ordered a bottle of wine and when it was being poured into our glasses most of it was splashed onto the table. Dreadful!
The food was excellent and as my best friend is a Chef, she was well impressed.
Lovely dining room, delicious food, however the service was a huge let down.

I have to start with my first experience at La Lune. I went to their website to make a booking. All dates were crossed out as booked. Perhaps I will call them..No phone number supplied however i was advised to email Sarah. After a week, no reply.
I drove to La Luna to find out how I can make make a booking, as i was having difficulty making contact with them.
No apologies were given, just a straight faced staff member .. advising me only walk-ins for 2 people. We don't issue a phone number.. Thats how we do business.
I wasn't going to return however i had a $200.00 gift voucher.
The following week my husband and I got to La Luna at 5.30 as advised by Sarah.
Our experience was completely different this time. We were greeted with smiles and shown to a table. Our wait staff were excellent. I ordered Duck Breast which was amazing and really flavoursome, my husbands Waggu dish could not be faulted.either.
However, when i went to pay my bill which I believe was $160.00 ( I wasn't shown it ) i passed over the voucher. I ask the staff member if i could use the unused balance of $40.;00, perhaps for lunch at a later date, i was told, No, you have to use a voucher in one sitting.
How can that be right...after discussion, I was given a Bottle of Wine.
La Lune is a great little restuarant with a nice ambience but some aspects need attention.

Arrived for dinner at 6.20pm. Ordered wine, starter and main about 6.35pm. Still waiting for wine and starter at 7pm. Other diners who arrived after us were eating their meals.Asked waitress and it was immediately obvious she'd forgot to put our order into the system. Wine arrived about 5 minutes later followed by the starter. By 7.40pm we'd had enough editing and tables next to us had finished their meals. Went to bar to pay and said why only to be told we hadn't ordered our meal until 7.05pm! We pointed out we'd actually ordered an hour earlier and the waitress had forgot. Anyway no apology and not even a few dollars knocked off. We paid $59 for 2 glasses of wine, water and some pretty ordinary vol au vents starters served to us on a tiny uncomfortable table. I don't know why we bothered-we won't be bothering again for sure.

French restaurant/bistro/cafe - choose!
Coffee with attitude, sublime!
Madelines only made os you order - heavenly!
Yet to try the breakfast/lunch menu though the food being served to other patrons looks very yummy.
The decor is so authentic and classy. French style chairs and tables outside set out as per Cafe Flore or Les Deux Magot style.
Courteous and helpful staff in ‘frenchy’ striped tops add to the french experience.
Now my ‘go to’ morning cafe for my coffee fix coupled with a wonderful french atmosphere!
Savourer!

Very disappointing, not recommended. The wine list is ridiculously expensive and almost entirely consists of French wines which are a totally unknown character and quality. The mains are all around $40 and come with no accompanying vegetables, salad or carbs. For four people the bill was $592, of which $355 was for wine, and we shared 2 entrees, did not have dessert or coffee.

Busy, noisy, interesting menu.
Things have improved since my last visit in October 2022, particularly the aïoli with the chips, which was spot on — a fine balance of garlic and lemon.
Salad dressing is good, the vol au vent quite tasty. Steack tartare was...well, not what I remember from France, but not bad.
Wines are OK, but a bit pricey.
I suppose it's worth a go, depending on your taste. I'm spoilt, having lived in France for 30 odd years, but lots of folks seem to like it.

A wonderful addition to both fremantle and George Street East freo. An upmarket look, low key feel, good French fare. Street side seating with minimum traffic, indoor upper class french bistro, along with French waitress. Wonderful bavette frittes avec sauce bernaise, wagyu beef tartare, whole fresh fish red emperor..pronounced "rud omperoire"

So dark we were using the torch on our phones to try and read the menu. Luckily the waiter took pity on us and brought a lamp. The duck was so salty it was almost inedible and the sauce was like an overly sweet marmalade. My friend had the fish which she couldn't taste because it was overpowered by the ham in the broth it was served in. Disappointing experience. Decent size tables would be a distinct improvement. Bistro tables aren't suited to the kind of dining on offer. Wait staff are great and the wine list had some great choices.

This is a brand new restaurant on George Street, famous for its fierce competition.
It's a nice addition, with welcoming staff, nice calm ambience, and an interesting menu.
But don't expect anything in the way of 'French' cooking that'll knock your socks off. For me, a French national who lived in France for ±30 years of my life, I don't recognise it as French cuisine — but then I've been here in Oz for the last 10 years, too!
Personally, I'm going to give them a bit of time (a month or so) to refine their offer, and then go back and try it again. I wish them well, and I'm hoping they'll be right up there at the top of their game!
For the moment, I think everything's a bit overpriced for what it is.

We arrived as the sunset crowd were wrapping up their dinner so after a short wait we managed to get a table. The pig face terrine and crab vol au vent were both absolutely divine. I loved my red emperor fish of the day, perfectly cooked and sitting in a beautiful beurre blanc sauce. The duck was probably the least impressive dish but it was also very good. Our young waitress was very charming and along with the ambience we had an excellent dinner experience.

We were lucky enough to book the private room for our bookclub Christmas dinner and had the December set menu. Food and service was amazing. We had a fabulous night ending with a sensational meringue summer fruits dessert.

Service was very ordinary . Had difficulty getting the attention of wait staff . Had to go to the bar to ask for wine glasses and a wine order . A lot of confusion over entrees when they arrived . Food was good ...if a limited menu . Wine is highly expensive

First time here and it was very disappointing. Food was very overpriced and the wine too. My daughter mentioned that you get more value in a Woolworth's Caesar salad. Left feeling very unsatisfied and hungry.
