Lunch on a windy cloudy day in Freo!

Been a while since a visit to the iconic Left Bank and it was a pleasant experience in this well located pub with Swan river views. Lunch for 4 inside wasn’t a problem ( too windy outside) and we settled for a share plate of arancini to start along with a couple of glasses of Prosseco and a choice from the wide range of beers on tap? The Arancini was excellent infused with pumpkin and a tasty tomato sauce as we waited fro our mains. The squid was well received as was the steak sandwich while the grilled barramundi brought rave reviews and the the cheese burger with additional egg and bacon was excellent! Good solid pub fare leaving no one hungry! Service was a little hit and miss but on the day didn’t seem disruptive. An enjoyable lunchtime experience.

Relaxed atmosphere

We met up with family for dinner. Outside is lovely in the evening and as it gets dark the trees are full of fairy lights. Good variety on the menu. My husband and I shared the prawns, carimari and sweet potatoe fries plus a jug of pimms for the table. It's very family friendly too with kids activities and changing facilities if you have a bub.

Great for a mid-week lunch

A busy Monday lunch. Groups meeting before Christmas and many locals. However after ordering and paying at the bar, the service was prompt and the food all arrived at the same time. The steak sandwiches were huge and excellent. The salt and pepper squid was also a generous serve and fresh and crisp. No ‘gluggy’ batter. Great job!

Poor service and disgusting toilets

It was a quiet Thursday morning, however we waited far too long for our food. I approached the counter and when she couldn’t work out why we were still waiting she asked me to step aside whilst she served another customer. I returned to my seat thinking she would come and apologise and explain.....she didn’t. So I waited some more. I re approached the counter and spoke to another staff person who told me they were having paper receipt issues. I requested a complimentary glass of wine, which was refused. I again returned to my table and a while later my order arrived without the sauce I had ordered and without cutlery. Again had to request this and wait. Such poor service. The toilets are disgusting and it’s about time this place was renovated.

Hi Happy Relaxed Couple, thank you for taking the time to write in with your feedback and we apologise again in writing for the delay with your meal. As explained to you in person, we had a small issue with our kitchen printer which resulted in a very small delay with orders going out, which was communicated with guests at the time and apologies aplenty for the wait and inconvenience. Like the Alanis Morisette song, ‘isn’t it ironic’ that as you were standing up at the bar letting us know that your food had not arrived after a short wait, that the entrée sized calamari which you were sharing with your guest for lunch, was being placed on your table at that exact moment! You can then appreciate why your request for free wine for the table was very politely declined. With regards to the toilets, we do agree that the décor in the heritage listed building is not to everyone’s taste, but we do refute the term disgusting as your visit was just after opening and the bathrooms had just been professionally cleaned. Hopefully this unavoidable technical issue which occurred on this occasion and which was quickly rectified won’t prevent you from coming back another time so you can truly experience our relaxed venue as a couple, in all its glory.

Terrible chicken parmigiana

Probably the worst chicken parmigiana I’ve ever eaten. The serving size was very small but that’s ok because I didn’t even want to finish it. Very soggy and terrible sauce used.

Hi Bethnay, we are really sorry and equally surprised to hear this! We can honestly say that this is the first ever complaint about our chicken parmigiana that we have ever received. We sell over 200 per week and have only ever had positive feedback. I really hope that you will come back and try the dish again another time so that you can experience the parmigiana as it should be enjoyed.

Visited with a group of friends. Food was just average. Ordered the grilled barramundi at $32. It was fine except I accidentally bit into a piece of raw pork belly hidden in the kale salad! Not great considering I'm pregnant and trying to avoid uncooked meat! Not sure how it got there.... The place has a great view though.

Engagement Party at The Left Bank

We cannot recommended hosting an event at The Left Bank enough, both ourselves and our guests had an amazing evening. The view from The Mezanine is absolutely spectacular and the team of event coordinators, staff and security assisted in ensuring that our party was a success. During the planning process, Carmen and Nicole ensured that the organisation of our event was seamless and worked together to provide a highly commendable event planning service. We primarily communicated with Carmen in the lead up to our event. She ensured that all queries were clarified promptly and provided practical recommendations to ensure that our event was a success. Carmen was both personable and professional, which surpassed all of our expectations. We feel very fortunate to have had access to her wealth of knowledge when it comes to event organising and we cannot thank her enough! We hope that Carmen is thoroughly enjoying her well deserved holiday in New Caledonia and we wish both her and Nicole all the best for all future endeavours. Best Burger Ever

I came in yesterday with a friend for a late lunch and ordered the Wharfie Burger with chips. I have to say the burger was excellent, one of tge best ive ever had. The pattie was cooked perfectly and the bbq sauce was delicious. The chips were good too, crispy and tasty. The atmosphere in the pub was nice as well. Will definitely come back

Go for the beers and views, not the food

The food is still very average but the views and tap beers are great. Dad’s steak sandwich was great but my pizza was dry and the base had an odd taste. Maybe just beers next time!

Another tasteless meal at this venue. Calamari was tough. Chips soggy. Pumpkin salad with chickpeas and some sort of strange green leaf, most unappetising, plates are very small with food falling over the sides. Won’t be back. Pity as the venue is so pretty.

Swan River watching

Excellent place to relax and enjoy Swan River - while biking, walking along the river. Staff were friendly , note you order food at bar and pay, then then serve you. We just ordered hot drinks and sweet potato fry's - were all good

Corporate End of Year Function

We held our 2019 Xmas function upstairs on the Mezzanine in late December and had a fabulous time. All 50 attendees loved the surroundings, service & view. The private bar and having your own bathroom was a plus, table set up was perfect, service was great, food was on time and thoroughly enjoyed, Nicole & Carmen from the Functions Team were outstanding. Would highly recommend an event here.

A great place for a drink and a meal

We had several visits to this hotel for drinks, to watch the sunsets and the dolphins glide past. The meals always looked good when they went past. We ate there last night for the steak and pint deal for $18 and weren’t disappointed. There was a group of 6 in our party and everyone was pleased with the meal, the decor and the surroundings. Happy to recommend it.

This is one of my favourites in Freo as it's right in the water and is perfect on a warm day. Food was really good, beers really cold and fantastic service. Highly recommend especially now things are opening up more.

Iconic Pub with amzing views

Simple and yummy pub grub, with the best views in Fremantle. Staff are super friendly and we love every visit to The Left Bank. Cant wait until they bring back their specials nights. Steak night is our favourite!
