My wife gave me a $150 gift certificate or my birthday a couple of months ago, knowing how much I like this place, and we both thought it would be a good idea to introduce a young friend of mine to this wonderful restaurant, so today we did it.
N and I shared my old favourite, the beef chop chop tartare, and an heirloom mushroom terrine (see picture), then a whole line caught snapper with lemony wilted cabbage, accompanied by fried potatoes with Café de Paris butter.
A bit too much food, but all delicious!
One simply can't go wrong here...
With a bit of wine (4 glasses), the bill came to $143, spot on for the gift certificate! Not cheap, but well worth it.

Friendly staff, eager to please, serve some of Fremantle's best food: it's inventive, tasty, beautifully presented, and satisfying. Be careful though, their portions have increased recently, and two of the smaller plates are quite enough, at least for me.
It's not cheap, but good value. Lunch today was $118 for two, with 3 glasses of wine — an excellent Harewood Pinot Noir, for about $10/glass...

It was a birthday gift, from friends interstate, who we normally celebrate birthdays with.
Never been there before, did not even know it existed, but only living full time in Perth for a year that was expected.
Friday night, booked for dinner, 1900hrs.
a very busy little place, one reason is happy hour at the bar, which was full, we got there a little early, but was shown straight to our table.
Asked for sparkling water, and a very large bottle arrived, menu and wine and drinks list.
So far three different people have served us.
ordered,
Chicken wings, smoked adobo, crispy skin, buttermilk to share.
Pork belly, cavalo Nero, fennel, capers, pistachio
Brussel sprouts, kosho butter, wasabi sesame
Buttermilk chicken steak, potato cream, nettle Verde
Fried potatoes, cafe de Paris butter
Ordered a bottle of Margret River Rose.
Starters came very quickly, very nice tastes, and eaten also very quickly.
Then my Pork Belly arrived, we asked about the chicken and was told it was coming, well it did come, but 15 minutes later, it was still just warm, so my wife and I could eat together, the side orders did arrive before the chicken.
By now almost everyone that served us was different, as I said it was busy.
Finally, we seemed to have a person who was looking after us, and we were able to finish our delicious meal, and it was delicious.
The Potatoes are to die for, the Brussel sprouts were great and the mains were wonderful.
I was a little upset by the timing of our meals but the end result was wonderful.
The total cost was about $200.00 which for the quality was I thought very good, service was not great, but forgiven, because of the meal.
We will be going again

First time here and will be my last. I visited with my husband after learning they had a Top chef here. My husband ordered the steak and mushrooms. When he asked the waitress if it came with veg. she didn't know and had to ask. No it didn't, and there were no veg sides to order....only a large plate of potatoes. He wasn't asked how he would like his steak and it was well cooked (not to his liking) and tough to the point he couldn't chew some of it.
I ordered the Sunday special of roast pork with lentils and wood fired vegetables.
The lentils and wood fired vegetables were fine but the pork was so overcooked and dry, I couldn't swallow it and ended up leaving most of my meal.
We complained to the guy who took our money who thanked us for our feedback.

I love all cardinal directions of Fremantle, and the east is no exception. Ethos Deli is a must visit!
Young George looked fun on paper and the venue is certainly cool, urban chic. Liked the music! We were here for lunch between Christmas and New Year. Tables far too close together mind.
Food was pretty good, but quite heavy. We felt it would be better suited to a winter’s visit. Almost like no thought had gone into anything other than producing a dish. Also no thought into how the food was delivered. We were left eating two sides as a course.
Table was super wobbly. Does this bother others? Like not just a little unsteady, we felt like we were in San Francisco in 1989. I don’t think it’s acceptable that such a table is even put out in a good restaurant, but even when we mentioned the waitress put a card under one leg, wobbled it, still wobbly, and asked, “will that do?”.
But my main complaint was how the couple next to us were treated (note to restaurant, if you actually spaced your tables out I may not have known!). They were brought a bowl of fried potatoes and immediately told the server they hadn’t ordered them. Bear in mind Young George is one of those “cool” venues where they don’t write down your order, just remember it. She said, “yes you did” and proceeded to get the the itemised bill to “prove” it.
Why would they lie about that? They’re $11 or something. The couple didn’t want a row and just accepted it. The waitress was either accusing them of lying or dementia, when it’s far more likely somebody trying to remember a dozen people’s orders got it wrong. The arrogance of that. SMH.
For me, service is such a big part of a nice restaurant and these guys let themselves down badly.

Went there for dinner for the first time recently. The food was very good and I would be back for this however I won't be back! We were told the food comes as the kitchen cooks it and I asked to have our main food brought together, but no... as the kitchen cooks it. As it is a share plate place, this means that you get random dishes plonked down to eat on their own, which is not very exciting. I like to taste my food in conjunction with other dishes to get the most from the textures and flavours. The choice is eat a plate of potatoes on their own and eat the meat on it's own or let one of the dishes get cold. NOT a good system, why can't the kitchen coordinate cooking of the dishes together like other restaurants? Also it is a very noisy venue, it wasn't busy and we had to raise our voices to hear our conversation, so some sound baffling would be good! So, although it was good quality and inventive food, I am happy to not darken their doors again.

We cannot express our dissatisfaction and disappointment in this restaurant.
If we could give a 0 we would.
It was not overly crowded. We were celebrating a birthday in the family. It took over 1/2 hour to get a waitress to take our order from a very limited menu. We asked for sparkling water and bread. The water failed to appear and we had to ask for the bread. The meal took 90 minutes to arrive.
Others were served before us even though they had arrived well after us.
The waitresses looked bored and was not particularly interested in serving us. Shame on management for such pathetic service.
The meal came at different intervals for each of us.
The cos lettuce was gritty with dirt
We had organised for a birthday dessert but decided to leave as the entire experience was completely disappointing and we will not be returning.
What a waste of hard earned money

Amazing, well presented, delicious food, would definitely come here again. I had the Sunday special roast pork with wood fired vegetables and salad with Sangria. The wait staff were attentive and delivered high quality service. The portion sizes were perfect, and the reverse Malteser dessert was also delicious.

I used to think this was one of the best restaurants in the Perth area: delightfully innovative cuisine, beautifully executed, young, engaging and enthusiastic staff.
Something's changed, and I can't quite put my finger on what.
The ambience, maybe: today at lunch it was noisier than usual, with loud rap music.
The staff, maybe: though they were smiling and efficient, I couldn't seem to connect through the façade to the person.
The food, definitely: lacks the newness, sparkle, and rich tastiness that it once had.
I wonder if opening the 'Ethos Deli + Dining Room' hasn't drained a lot of the energy that Young George used to have... Ethos now seems to be more inventive and less expensive, but I can't handle the noise there, either!
The three dishes shown in the photos cost $46, and a Harewood Pinot Noir was $12/glass. There's some value missing here...

Great little venue, we were excited to try, came in for lunch. Ordered the meal and paid nearly $100 for some tasty but very very small portions. Of the 3 pork ribs I received for $32, one rib had virtually no meat. Very poor and disappointing.

My partner and I dropped by Young George in a last minute hoorah on December 31st. We were promptly greeted and sat close to the bar. We both work in hospitality, and this was genuinely the best experience we’ve had at a venue in a long time. The service was impeccable—staff were knowledgeable about ingredients, ensured our glasses were always topped up and that the table was wiped and reset for the next course while we ducked outside mid meal. The food was phenomenal—flavours were bright, complex and energetic, with great portion sizes. I’ve now recommended Young George to all of my coworkers! We’ll certainly will be back very soon.

The ambience was excellent and there was a there was a good choice for breakfast. My partner had the “son in law eggs” It was nice with a Crispy pork hash which was basically pulled pork and was scrumptious. I ordered the crab croquettes. While tasting ok it was mostly mashed potatoes and lemon and I couldn’t taste any crab at all. At$27 I’d give it a miss. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Overall good quality food but they bulk out there food with potato. We ordered cuttlefish that was mostly potato and other fillers. We also ordered the snapper that wasn’t even a full serve - tiny portion. We ordered bread and only got 2 little pieces for approx $10 - it doesn’t cost much for bread.

One of my worst dining experiences. Extra hot day & no air cons on. When we asked to move to a cooler table, the waitress threw our serviette on the table & relocated us under obvious duress. The meal was over salted, red wine hot (not room temperature) & I wished we’d left when my partner wanted to but always try to respect my bookings. A complete waste of an evening.

This place is a yo-yo — sometimes up, sometimes down. Mostly down, unfortunately.
Nothing on the online menu was available. I wanted the pig's head torchon, instead, as a substitue, I ordered, for starters, Akoya oysters. They were deep fried and battered (always a mistake), and utterly tasteless. All the sauce (vinaigrette) was in the salad.
Then, since I wanted the tiger prawns on the online menu — which weren't available — they graciously offered another version of tiger prawns, this time greasy with butter, not completely shelled, and heavy, not light and fresh like prawns should be. I asked for some segments of lime, which helped a bit, but this is one of the worst versions of tiger prawns I've ever had.
Plus, lunch for two with two glasses of wine came to $120. Outrageously overpriced.
Can't recommend.
