Since in Maasin there is virtually no competition, Kinamot is the go-to place to enjoy the sea breezes over a beer and freshly cooked Filipino food, with a Chinese slant. Most dishes are designed to be shared, so bring your group or a big appetite. The menu is comprehensive and most items are available most of the time. Choices of rice dishes and vegetables is good, as is the choice of pork dishes. Non-pork based dishes are limited. Vegetarian almost non-existant. Choices of drinks is very limited and sometimes fresh fruits are not available at all. As is usual around the Filipino food scene, a trip to the nearest market to replenish outages just does not occur. Desert choices are limited, but excellent. Prices are considered "expensive" locally, so the clientele are generally upscale Filipinos, with a spattering of foreigners. The Governor held his Christmas Party at Kinamot this past December.

My first evening in Maasin, my host took us to Kinamot. I enjoyed the location so much, the views of the water and the open air. Perfectly enjoyable. I went cautiously into Philippine cuisine, ordering chicken inasal, a nice marinated chicken then grilled. Very tasty. Prices were very reasonable, and we had no wait for a table on a Wednesday night.

The old kinamot was good with the previous manager but staff but now, they have a rule on not admitting children (for some reason they didn't specify why). And the food were average and staff are not that friendly anymore. I would not recommend this place anymore, just like what the other review said, it's already torn down to its staff.

Closed since March. Building completely razed to the ground. Rumour is it's a 'renovation'. Perhaps it will re-open in 2018.

After being recommended our 1st visit left a little to be desired. But sadly our next and final visit was not a happier one. We were pointed to our tables by a none too happy waiter who finally produced the menus. I asked to use the gent's toilets and just as the 1st time, the toilets were disgusting !! Very stinky and no toilet papers. Our meals arrived 'eventually' and in dribs and drabs ! The food ? Rice and more rice until the course finally arrived. Not much more on the positive side to say , other than . 'No more' !

The restaurant is open to the sea, that makes it interesting but if you are not sitting right at the front it is not so interesting. This is an average sort of restaurant, after visiting the place three times I think we had had enough. We did not stay in the adjacent hotel but the menu is the same. What I found interesting was the guys diving for crabs outside the restaurant (I hope I did not eat those crabs) The staff on the whole were friendly and helpful the prices were average for this kind of restaurant.

Sit literally over the sea and enjoy Filipino/Chinese style food for very reasonable prices. Friendly staff and generous portions - for instance, soup will do for at least two people!

Open air restaurant adjacent to Villa Romana hotel. Best in Maasin, but would be considered average elsewhere in Cebu or Manila; but very good for Maasin. Alternatives are few unless you like to eat in Jollibees or Andoks - don't expect any fine dining in Maasin. The restaurant is on the shoreline overlooking the pier. Most times there's a sea breeze, but it can occasionally be stiflingly hot and humid if there's no breeze. The food is Filipino and Chinese. Service is not so good, but ok if you relax and forget about time.No point complaining thinking that you will get better service - the waiters are middle aged and stubborn - typical Filipino trait. Even being a regular foreign customer who always tips, never results in better service.Southern Leyte is a tough place for a foreigner who likes good international food: think twice before visiting.

If you're coming to Maasin, try to make a pit stop at this restaurant. It is one of the pricier places here but it's totally worth it because the food is delicious!

We had breakfast here for 3 mornings in a row it's because they're close to where we stayed in Maasin and they were the only ones who serve so called American breakfast that we know of. They provided us with wheat bread which was good but still a little sweet kind of bread. The service, they could do a bit better. At times they're slow in attending the customers.
