Visited last week for a lovely meal with my friend. Staff as always were very friendly and attentive. We ordered from the valentine’s menu that had been advertised for weeks previous, the food was exemplary. We had goats cheese, chateaubriand steak for two then sticky...toffee pudding for dessert, all amazing!! The owner is a lovely lady who clearly takes pride in her craft and this shows in her food and customer service. Upon leaving staff wished us a good night and a thank you for our visit, as they did with all customers. To further note in regard to the one star review below, I attended the same night as the four women mentioned and only witnessed rude obnoxious behaviour from the women in this group. I wouldn’t normally add this but found I quite disturbing that such a review was written when the staff and manager clearly tried to attend to the group’s complaints (that were over a menu that was a sample menu) in a professional way. The rudeness upon leaving was the staff wishing them a good night as they did with all customers. But I suppose some people just like to complain! I’ve never witnessed anyone be so rude in my life. Anyway if your in Wigan give this hidden gem a visit absolutely fantastic place will be booking again soon.More

Ate here last night with my husband & our friends (another couple) even though lived in Wigan all our lives it’s only the second time we’ve been as only recently discovered it & we wanted our friends to experience it too. We had seen on...Facebook earlier in the week that there were special cocktails available for Valentines week so we tried the Cherry Baby which was delicious! There was a special menu for Valentines week too with brilliant choices, we all went for the blade of beef for mains which was absolutely delicious (my friend took some home in a doggy bag - we were all stuffed & sadly had no room for dessert)! We all had two courses & each of us couldn’t fault anything, the service was also excellent with all the staff incredibly polite & really looking after us. My family also came for my auntie’s birthday last Saturday & really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back, Jayne the owner is so passionate about ensuring her customers enjoy their meal & want to come back - the first time my husband & I came which was in October we had called in on the off chance of getting a table at about 8.30 on a Saturday night - we were lucky & absolutely loved the food, Jayne & her daughter came to speak to us & we couldn’t believe they’ve been there 14 years & we hadn’t been! Wonderful place can’t recommend enough.More

Owner confronted us when we never even asked for her. Never experienced anyone as rude in my life. Firstly got our booking time wrong, we didn't mind, then only questioned the valentines menu when the website clearly shows a bistro menu (not a sample menu...as she said). Apparently the menu changes daily. The bistro menu online states 5 - 9pm Thursday til Saturday. Why would we think that wouldn't stand? But her attitude to two over 60's out with their daughters was absolutely appalling. We paid for drinks and left as all the staff shouted sarcastic comments at us. Very professional. Will never come here again. Have to put 1 out of 5 but really it is zero. Get to Francos round the corner. Millions times betterMore

Amazing valentine's meal & service. We have visited several times and it is one of our favourite restaurants. Jayne the owner & chef really goes the extra mile. The menu was delicious. We had the camembert sharing platter with tasty bread, olives & grapes. We...also tried the bhajis. Wow they are massive & nicest we've ever had! The blade of beef was delicious. So tender it melted in your mouth. It was a huge portion. Every mouthful of food is so tasty. Unfortunately we didn't have room for a dessert. The staff were all very efficient and professional. Lovely atmosphere too. Definitely will be back.More

We visited red door bistro on 15/12/23 to celebrate my sisters birthday. When we arrived we sat ourselves down and waited for someone to come and take our drinks order. This took that long a member of our party had to ask. I booked over...the phone and looked on the online menu which catered for kids, when we arrived the menu was completely different and they were serving ‘smaller portions’ of the adults menu which didn’t go down well with the kids having to eat beef in Bourgogne sauce and I wasn’t informed of this on the phone that the menu would be different. The starters were okay, most of the mains were okay, the beef was very nice however two of the people we were there with ordered a vegetarian stew and when it came they both didn’t like the taste so sent it back. This was down to personal taste and they didn’t ask for anything else or a refund and were happy to wait for desert (one of these being the birthday girl). They described it as having a smoky bonfire taste which they caused the chef to come out being very confrontational telling them it was cinnamon and was not burned, to which they explained they just didn’t like it and were not complaining. Then one of the waitresses was listening to our conversation after and came over confronting us saying that’s just what the chef does and comes out to anyone who has a problem. We felt very uncomfortable and I couldn’t finish my main. From this point halfway through the mains it was an extremely awkward experience and I didn’t want to be there. The atmosphere was terrible so we decided to leave without getting a dessert. Definitely not worth the trip out for a special occasion or the money we paid. Feel like I wasted an evening and a babysitter on it to be honest. Very disappointed about the treatment we had there tonight. Wouldn’t choose to go back now. Also allows children but we were told to keep a 2 year old sat in her seat… nearly impossible but okay.More

Four couples dined here after reading the reviews. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent and whilst the menu was not extensive we all had a starter and main meal. The service was very good and the staff were all really friendly and helpful....The ambiance was also very good. My only slight criticism would be the red wine which I thought was a little pricey (jumps from £23 to £32 a bottle) but I thought the food was underpriced. Overall we all had an excellent experience and will definitely be going back.More

We’ve been here 3 times, food is outstanding. Every dish presented perfectly. Small menu, but never had an average. Went twice in one month and the menu was different in both occasions. Service is excellent, not stupidly pricy either. A all round decent restaurant, just...what Wigan needs. No doubt we’ll be back many more times!!More

Absolutely amazing food and service. Our waiter was so helpful as we were in a bit of a rush. The flat iron steak was perfect and they offered a GF sauce to go with it. I had 2 starters. Blue cheese soufflé and cauliflower bao...buns. Divine Ambience was also welcoming and warm with grt musicMore

Went to Wigan for a few drinks and booked here last minute. We haven’t been for a number of years and it’s still as good as it was then. I love the small menu, not over complicated enough choice and some unusual twists to traditional...dishes. The staff are really friendly and give an excellent service. The lady/chef who runs it is a lovely person and offered changes to a couple of things I wasn’t sure about. Good prices on the menu especially for a Saturday night. Will definitely be going back sooner rather than later!!!More
