Really excellent local cafe with veggie/vegan bias, but does have superb bacon rolls. Not a huge choice at lunch but very tasty with good size portions. Great cakes and tray bakes as well. Service is so friendly and you can buy small selection of local produce. Lovely atmosphere with the wood burner crackling away. Cafe even has its own very well behaved dog who loves a pet.

We sat in for lunch, coffee and cake this weekend - felt very comfortable with regards to appropriate covid measures being in place and staff were lovely. Beautiful food for both vegetarian and non vegetarian. I would definitely eat here, sit in or take away, again soon :-)

Our first visit - we were looking for coffee and cake, and were very pleased with what we found. Coffee was delicious, as were the citrus scones, which were served with lovely home made jam.
The staff were attentive and friendly, the wood stove was blazing away.
An excellent asset to Aboyne - and (unlike many places) open on a Sunday too. Easy Parking in the square. We'll certainly be back.

Went in for take-away teas and a cake. The teas were served in rather small sized cups, almost espresso mid sized.
Surprised also that the tea bags were not left in the cup for us to remove as we wanted, the tea was hardly brewed. We paid £3 for 2 x small cups of hot milk.
Also surprised that a cafe like this does not offer sweeteners, only sugar ?!?

We visited recently for take away lunch. Unfortunately the bread was so stale we threw out the sandwiches. The cakes and coffee were nice. Disappointed in the quality and even though cafes have been through a tough time I still think they paying customer should get at least fresh bread for their sandwiches.

I have visited Spider on a Bike twice since the change of management and have been left feeling disappointed on both occasions. There is no warm welcome, the staff always seem too preoccupied with other things. There are too many small tables crammed close together which doesn’t make for a comfy setting. On our last visit several items from the menu were unavailable and staff seemed unable to advise on suitable alternatives. It’s lost the fun, vibrant atmosphere that it used to have. I hope these are just teething problems, but it needs some work to be what it once was …

Probably one of my most favourite places to go!!! The brunch never ever lets you down. I don’t know what it is they do but it’s always super flavourful and every mouthful is superb!! Same goes for lunches. Their salads are full of heavenly goods, healthy and yummy and fills you up for hours.
Can’t recommend this wee gem enough

Really thrilled to recommend this place. Went in there before going on a trip to Glasgow, and Hollie's recommendations for where to eat / drink / brunch in Glasgow truly made our whole trip. She was so lovely and took so much time to walk us through some coffee options which all turned out to be brilliant...it was a really nice experience and we are so thankful! Plus, the coffee HERE is absolutely brilliant and the food is divine. 100000% recommend.

This has to be one of my favourite 'wee' coffee shops that serve an amazing variety of healthy snacks & treats (I am gluten-free, and they have some wonderful options).
I also love the variety of coffees available - my favourite this fall has been the Turmeric Latte....so good and nourishing for the body & soul! Great value always friendly customer service and I just adore the book-swap shelf! If you are in the area, or even just passing through...definitely recommend.

If you find yourself in the area or just passing through Aboyne, then you absolutely must stop here. Unquestionably the best coffee you’ll find in Royal Deeside. It’s a big call I know but believe me we’ve looked and done our research! Conveniently located just off the main road in the station square, you can’t miss the bright signage and suspended bicycle signage at the front. The cafe is bright, cosy and welcoming with plenty of seating and a log burner at the back for those arriving by foot or bike on the chilly Highland days. The coffee is phenomenal, the cake simply divine (banana and choc chip was to die for). If you appreciate quality coffee then Spider on a Bicycle is a must. Highly recommended.

Stopped for lunch here while on a bike trip. I have coeliac disease and so require gluten free food.
Exceptional service and knowledge of the products and what was gluten free and at lowest risk of cross contamination - multiple items on the menu could be made or adapted to be gluten free and they had GF carrot cake stored separately from the baked goods cabinet as well as a small selection of packaged gluten free baked goods.
The food/coffee was very good.

We discovered Spider on a Bicycle whilst staying in the area and what a discovery, the food was so good and the staff were really friendly, our visit was made better as our cocker spaniel Molly was also welcome. Our brunch was sooo good that we went back in the afternoon. We had misunderstood the menu but the staff were so obliging and made what we needed. The almond croissant was delicious, as is the coffee. We can’t recommend Spider on a Bicycle enough as the food is excellent and all the staff extremely helpful and friendly, we will definitely be back.

Good food, lovely staff and a characterful space. Always enjoy popping in for lunch and it caters for all comers so if you have a mixed group of folk with different food preferences they won't be disappointed. Handily accessible too as there are two disabled parking bays just at the door.

Great lunch menu and cake selection, particularly enjoyed the sourdough cheese toastie. Quick and very friendly service. Owner Alistair entertained the kids with a teddy hunt and gave the dog treats. Handy free car park right outside and good baby changing facilities.

Stumbled across Spider on a Bicycle while taking our dogs around Arboyne before heading to do food shopping. Great welcome for both us and our Sprockers. Good coffee and delicious iced bun and danish: who would have thought of heating the buns? Stroke of genius! Lovely, warm and relaxed atmosphere. Will be popping on again!
