Called into the Balgedie Toll for lunch today but hadn’t booked as it was a last minute day off work. We were greeted with a warm welcome and seated promptly. Enjoyed a local ale and really delicious freshly cooked lunch. I had a small portion...steak pie which was still more than I could manage but did my best to try as it was so good. My partner had the fish and chips which he thoroughly enjoyed along with the homemade condiments. Sadly neither of us had capacity for a desert! Will most definitely return (hopefully the open fire will be back in service by then). I don’t often leave reviews but this tavern deserves a mention.More
Met up with family for dinner and a catch-up, I used to live nearby and had been a regular user in 70’s then occasionally after that with last visit 30 years ago. The interior hasn’t changed structurally but has been kept freshly decorated and welcoming...maintains the quaint feel. The menu was a good balance of choice with good old favourites like steak pie, smoked haddock in cheese sauce, etc all items were good prices for post covid. The service was friendly and professional. The four of us all enjoyed our meals, it was a welcome change to the meals we have been served post covid in the Highlands. Everything was cooked perfect and full of flavour, the deserts that followed looked and tasted superb. It will be a definite stop next time I’m passing the junction on M90 going either North or South.More

Absolutely great meal with family. Everyone had something different across the menu. Everything was tasty, good portions and service was everything you would expect. Traditional pub/inn style which is becoming rarer and lovely to still see. My meal (smokie) was delicious and hopefully be back...soon!More
Delighted to have a delicious meal at this traditional, cosy coaching inn. Our large party of 9 enjoyed a fab meal, between us trying most of the main course and pudding menu. Everything was delicious, staff were great accommodating allergies and preferences with ease. Lovely...friendly atmosphere in a spotlessly clean venue (including bathrooms). Looking forward to our next visit!More
Been several times before and it had been very pleasant. This occasion it seems to have dropped their standards; cleanliness wasn’t great in particular the toilets. Food; spring roll was over cooked, batter on the fish (fish and chips) was thick and not fully ,...also a load of salt on the top of the fish. Staff member came over as flustered as she had forgotten our drinks order. Not sure if I will be back.More
I am disappointed to read your poor review, it would be nicer as a customer if you pointed out any problems that occur on your visit, they could then be dealt with promptly. I do not accept your cleanliness comment at all, toilets are cleaned...More
We have been to The Toll several times recently and it has been consistently good. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, and the food beautifully prepared and delicious. Pay a visit, you won t be disappointed. 😁
We visited for lunch on Christmas Eve and were not disappointed. The food is consistently excellent, the service is attentive and we were seated at a lovely table by the fire. We have had a number of meals here now and would highly recommend.
Christmas Day excellence, absolutely perfect food and service as always. Just incredible well thought out flavours and delicious meals. Well worth the money!
Interesting country pub not far from Loch Leven. Decent pub food with comfy lounge area and seating outside. Staff were friendly and the service was good.
Popped in for lunch. Didn't have a booking but luckily got a table. Would advise to book as it's a large place and was pretty full on a wet Tuesday in November. Staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The menu offered a...good selection. The food was very good all prepared and cooked well and a good plateful. The steak pie gets a special mention, beef tender and a good pastry . Star of the show though was the Apple and cinnamon crumble with custard and ice cream. My tip is; leave roof for dessert.More
1s Wedding Anniversary meal with my husband today, we went in at 2pm my husband had the cock a leekie and I had balgeddie smokey, the food is without a doubt excellent on every visit. The chef is creative and innovative without being pretentious… delicious...and wonderful every time, cannot recommend enough. Really well done to Neil and his team. Just fantastic.More
We have visited a number of times, we enjoy the ambience and intimacy of the place. This visit was for lunch as a wee treat, we each had 3 courses and we all commented on how good the food was, it was lovely the best...I have had for a while. That coupled with the service was worth the visit. Thank you, a satisfied and full customer :-)More
We were staying for nearby for a few days, and fancied a meal out. This was the most convenient place for us, so we booked what we assumed would be just a normal pub meal. How wrong we were! It was so much more: the...service and the food were exceptional, the dishes offering tasty and imaginative combinations of predominantly local and very fresh produce. We were really impressed that portions of the mains were available in two sizes, too: not everyone has the same sized appetites. It was our penultimate night in the area, but even before we’d finished our main courses we’d decided unanimously to try and book again for the following night, if we could. Luckily, we were able to get a place! Although it’s in a very rural setting, the tavern is only a short detour from the northbound M90 motorway between the outskirts of Edinburgh to Perth: southbound you’d need to do a loop back between the Kinross exit and the northbound exit for the A91 to reach it, though in these days of satnavs and smartphone apps, it’s easy. At the time of writing, it’s closed on Wednesdays, but open for lunches and evening meals on the other days. Weekends in particular can be busy, so it’s worth booking ahead. Highly recommended if you’re in the area, or even just passing through!More
