Reznicek is the only Viennese restaurant in the area, and, being off the tourist circuit, it has the flavour of being honestly a spot where local people eat local food. It is very basic in its decor, which adds to its honesty, and the menu...does not offer anything "fancy". Mostly meat, for meat lovers, and a few vegetarian options...very few. Having said that, the waitress was extremely kind to me, and suggested spinach ravioli. Now, for an Italian, ravioli are small, these were about 7-10 cm in diameter, real huge. Both the pasta and the filling were delicious, and seemed originally home made. The sause was simply browned butter, with a bit of pepper...yet, the simplicity of the sauce is necessary to preserve the delicate flavour of the filling. The portions are huge, and commonly, you receive a salad in addition to the main dish. I had wine, and I loved the fact that the lady waiting on me presented myself with a glass and a tiny (1/8 lt?) carafe . She did not fill the glass up to the brim, just half of it, and left the rest in the carafe for me to puor when I desired. I thought that was more classy than a filled glass...They speak a bit of English, and are very, very friendly. One thing, which is true for many restaurants in Austria, people can smoke. Thus, if you do not like that, I am not sure what to recommend. Locals are there with their dogs, thus, again, if you do not like that, try another option. But I really loved the place, even with the smoke. At times, it reminds me of my youth, when we were free...we did not have all these rules. This simple, friendly, lively spot in Vienna filled me with nostalgia. And I loved it. A must if you really want to try real food in a real place.More
