Everything was perfect. Waiting staff very friendly and professional, chefs looking for honest feedback not forcing any compliments like other places. Food was exquisite, everything melted in the mouth. We had steak, pork cheek and queijada. The kitchen is half open so you can see the staff putting finishing touches on your orders. Best food experience we could find on the island in two weeks.

I don't understand why the chef doesn't have at least one Michelin star, open kitchen, place furnished with care and style, really low prices for the quality of the products. truly a sensory experience. the cuisine is typical but revisited in a modern key. nothing to do with the tourist restaurants found in the central areas of the city. Congratulations to the guys who work there, kind and approachable. Absolutely worth trying if you are in the area.

Great!!! A pure treat! It had been a long time since I had eaten such an exquisite dish! Cooked with refinement. I took the black sword with its passion banana sauce and my husband the octopus perfectly cooked and accompanied by small melting vegetables. We loved it! Special mention to the service and the French waitress who is a very good Trip Tip. Everything was perfect. Too bad we found this restaurant the day of our Check-out. Because we would have come back to discover other flavors. To go there with your eyes closed

We were guests at this marvelous restaurant which is intent in re-discovering traditional Madeira cuisine. I use guests because it felt as if we had been invited by the wonderful crew. I had the distinctive perception that the chef is en route to building an innovative experience which radically departs from traditional restaurants in Canical. A true discovery was tuna stomach. I am not the kind of adventurous explorer but was convinced to give it a try and I was totally convinced by this unique cut of fish served with red onions and almonds. The octopus, too, was served on a bed of tiny local potatoes and vegetables. It deserves a visit, but you need to be someone who sets themselves apart from the noisy crews of traditional holiday travels

Mega good dinner and conclusion after a day of hiking

Excellent dinner and nice service. For starters we had breaded squid and a delicious dip. The squid meat was tender and huge. For the main course we chose tuna with green vegetables and sweet potatoes and were very impressed. Excellent food!

The restaurant was extremely welcoming, Elodie and Cristiana provided us with excellent service and a great sense of humour. The food was delicious, we opted for some of the local cuisine which was prepared wonderfully. Cristiana recommended a fantastic wine which complimented the food very well. If you are visiting Madeira briefly or for a longer stay. Restaurante Recante should be a staple for your stay!

We went for lunch with the family and found a pleasant, welcoming place, with dishes very well prepared by Chef Eusébio, the “açorda”, the fish soup are simply wonderful and the cod à Brás for starters. As a main dish, a phenomenal fish pasta. We will be back soon to try the meats as we were curious after seeing the presentation of the dishes.

Little restaurant on the street in Canical, a little further inland than the waterfront. If you don't know it, you don't even pay much attention from the outside, but inside it is very cute and nice, modern and minimal furniture, with open kitchen. Friendly service and right waits (generally waiting times on the island are much longer). Typical Portuguese dishes, but much lighter than average and presented in a much more accurate way, with attention to detail. You won't find plates full of fries, so to speak. The phenomenal octopus. Couscous with cod as well. Not to mention the typical fish with banana that we found around a bit everywhere, but never so good and inviting. The menu is rich but not overly vast and very tasty, you would like to try everything! They also have a decent selection of wines. Honest prices for an Italian used to eating fish in Italy! 74€ in two, with starter, two main courses, dessert, bottle of wine and coffee. The covered includes homemade bread and three small snacks. It really deserves a ride and a more than positive review. That's great!

A nice place for dinner, very tasty and nicely presented dishes at a good price. An additional attraction is the open kitchen, thanks to which you can see the process of preparing dishes. I would highly recommend!

Perfect culinary experience on the island

We found the restaurant by chance and it has been the best culinary experience on the island. With products from local suppliers, they offer very tasty dishes with a great quality. The quality-price ratio is perfect. I strongly recommend this place if you want to have a good time and eat delicious food :)

Amazing lunch!

It was brilliant choice to stop in this restaraunt. We were going back to Funchal from out hike on Vereda da São Lorenço and were hungry of course. Everything was amazing. The restaraunt itself, very kind stuff, incredibly tastefull food made out of homemade and domestic stuff. Definitely recommend!!!

This Restaurant is really great. The Service is Perfect. The dishes are prepared with love and skill. The Desserts are incredibly good, we tasted the pasteis de nata and the Chocolate Mousse which we simply enjoyed incredibly. It really wants to be detoured.

The experience at this restaurant was very enjoyable and the food was delicious. The service was excellent, and we were welcomed with a starter as soon as we sat down. For the main course, we had the seafood risotto, which was rich in flavor and absolutely delicious.
