Spot on! As a Brit who loves curry it was spot on! Loved it so much we went here twice! Word of warning. If you like hot or spicy curries then ask for extra hot or chilli's to go with it. Menu is basic as in there is a handful of dishes to choose from but enough for everyone to enjoy. Again, if you're used to curry houses in the UK as an example you will not get 40+ dishes to choose from. Remember you're not at home. You're in a foreign country where spicy food is not the number 1 delicacy. Only way to book? Turn up in person or telephone in advance (I know right, really weird! You can actually use your smartphone to make phone calls as well as surf crap on the web and like photo's of people you don't know and will never ever meet). Roughly £170 for 5 of us to have a curry with rice and naan bread with a beer. Iceland is expensive even if you want a bottle of water so please do not complain or whinge or moan. Fantastic host, great food and atmosphere and literally 100 Metres from Hotel Island Spa & Wellness.

We ventured to this busy spot on our last night in Reykjavík seeking a warm and spicy Indian food fix, we were pleasantly surprised. Friendly service and pleasant atmosphere presenting straight forward and well executed Indian classics. Shared an order of Vegetable Samosas which were crispy and delicious served with a nicely dressed salad. Ordered Chicken Madras and Lamb Josh Rogan which were well presented with a shared bowl of saffron rice. Each entree was delicious and had a well crafted balance of spice which we enjoyed very much. Friendly and attentive service added to the level of enjoyment. Highly recommended!!

We showed up t this restaurant without a reservation expecting availability since it was not on a busy street and surprisingly were told, very politely, there'd an hour's wait. It was evidently popular. Being Indian, I was skeptical about eating at a Indian restaurant for the limited time we were there but came back there the following day. and I have to say, was a great decision. The menu is sparse but most of what we ordered was quite delectable .I We'd ordered the fish dish, something vegan and butter chicken. I took some time to compliment the owner later and asked about the chef - he mentioned the chef was someone experienced and that the ingredients were sourced fresh from local sources daily. The Icelandic owner was gentlemanly, friendly and obviously took pride in what he did, I'm surprised by some of the critical reviews - personally I was quite pleased with everything and highly recommend it. Its not a place you'd go for the decor or space- its relatively a small place that is clean, gives good value for the money and prides itself in maintaining a standard.

Icelandic Couple - We had just arrived 10 minutes after they open (at 17:10) we stood first at the cashier waiting to order. Some group of 3 came in 5 minutes after us and they immediatly showed them to a table so we waited a bit longer and then left because nobody came to us, not even a hi or welcome. Insane behaviour.

I have been couple of times to this place, but prior COVID. My pre-pandemic experience was good. Now when i vistited this place for a dinner with my wife, this was absolutely terrible. Service was slow, we got served bad expired beer on a bottle. What saddens me the most is that the food was terrible. Over cooked chicken (reheated x times if you ask me) the chicken was like dry plastic that was like old wet toothpicks. We ordered #65 and chicken vindaloo and the taste was thin an the chicken very off (as described above). I would want to share photoes of the food, but that would be sencored content.

Friendly service and friendly staff. Beforehand we had Samosa with meat, then chicken vindaloo and my daughter butterchicken. The Samosa with sauce was delicious as was the fresh salad. The two main courses were also delicious.

I had done some research into some restaurants near to our hotel whilst visiting Iceland and as such we visited this one. We are so glad that we did. The restaurant is in a quiet area.... but totally worth a visit. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated. The food was really lovely and served is some beautiful crockery. The pappadoms are served with mango chutney and then like a salad/slaw mix and this was delicious. The curry’s themselves were lovely and plentiful and the curry’s come with rice. We ordered naan breads and although these are different to what we have in UK curry venues, they were more crispy and flat- they were absolutely delicious!! They provide water in beautiful glasses for you also on the table- free of charge. Overall our meal was about 8500isk for poppadoms, two curry’s, rice, two naans and a zup. We were more than happy to pay this amount - it was worth it and for Iceland, was quite reasonable. We had a lovely meal in a nice setting for a reasonable price. Would defiantly recommend.

The place looked really popular, so we was really looking forward to the food. if i wasn't as hungry as i was, the food would of gone back. took 45 minutes for the poppadums' and a further 45 minutes for our dish............ the rice was lumpy like it had been microwaved. the chicken was dry and very unflavored, we all said it tasted like a cheap ready meal. The service was slow too. one good thing the price reflected the meal wasn't to expansive. wish we had gone to the burger place instead. Would never go again

One of the very best Indian meals I've had in recent times, let down slightly by the surrounding chaos. Arriving unblocked at 6pm on a Saturday evening, we were prepared for a wait, but instead we were nodded towards a table in the far corner (a little bit dark but very private). The younger waiter came and took our order of two starters (the samosas), four mains and a couple of naans. Two of the party got their drinks quickly but the other two (draft Tuborgs) were forgotten in the hurly burly, and the waiter had to be reminded. Plus, the cracking open of a couple of cans behind the bar doesn't really reflect well in any restaurant, but it was fine. The samosa order got a bit mixed up but again was resolved eventually. However, all the food was absolutely fantastic, from the veg and meat samosas, the lamb which was perfect and the chicken dishes were very well received. All round a great meal, and we can overlook a bit of chaos on a Saturday evening when the small team had been left to look after both eat-ins and take-outs between them. Highly recommended.

From start to finish this restaurant is fantastic, the service of the staff, professional and friendly. We had the popadoms to start, that come with a beautiful side salad and mango chutney. I had the Cod curry it was amazing the cod so white, a hint of heat but not over powering. My wife had Chicken Korma which again she said it was soo good. Would definitely recommend!!!

I've been in many Indian restaurants and many have been good, and the Indian dishes do not really my type of food. So I went to this place with my family, just expecting the same Indian food as always, but my god it was good. The flavour was just insane, I added a little bit of chilly paste witch helped the flavour a bit, but it was not really needed.

Fisrt I got an expired beer. Then I got the most popular dish according to the waitress. Chicken 65. Never have I ever tasted a chicken this dry and bad tasting although the sauce was tasty. My husband ordered extra spicy Vindaloo but it wasn’t spicy enough for him. Service was good and the atmosphere was nice.

For an Indian, the quality wasn't as good as we had been led to believe by another diner. Perhaps they were having an off day? My chicken which was supposed to come with spinach was well cooked but there was neither spinach nor spinach flavouring. If you wanted service, they didn't know how to check on you or offer dessert etc.and you had to flag their attention. Perhaps because they were quite busy with take aways?

We needed a reservation for a Friday night. This is a perfect Indian restaurant with a modern twist. We loved it!!! Parking right in front (this is away from the city center which was a plus for us). The value for the money you pay is excellent compared to Iceland prices. The owner is serving the orders with the other employees and we valued that and support small business owners. Customer service was really nice, attentive and quick (even for a busy Friday night). First time in Reykjavik and we will definitely visit this place again before our departure. The restaurant is on a busy street so it is really easy to find. PS: make sure you order the veggie samosas, excellent choice to start your dinner. Pictured: Brinjal and Nine diamonds with onion naan extras ;).

This is the best indian restaurant in Iceland. The kids usually choose the tikka masala but me and the wife have tried almost all the courses and we can't choose a favorite. They are all that good. The samosas and papaboms are also amazing. And the restaurant is also super cheap, compared to qualify. Anyone who says something else hasn't eaten much in Iceland.
