After reading the reviews online and being big sushi fans we knew we wanted to visit Sushi Social and we were not disappointed! We pre-booked a table as we were coming straight from the airport, but it was fairly quiet which was nice. The atmosphere was lovely, very relaxed and the staff were great. The perfect mix between attentive and chilled :) Our waitress Elisabet was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The menu has a great variety of food and drink and was hard to pick as we wanted to try lots! We ended up with the Edamame which were AMAZING, nice bit of spice and kick to them! We had some Maki, Tempura & Spring Rolls. All were lush with great flavours and we ordered just the right amount for 2 to share. The house white wine was also very tasty (and I am super fussy) and my partner really enjoyed his beers too. There was a dessert menu but I chose to have an Espresso Martini which again was very well made and presented beautifully. Thank you for a wonderful first meal in Iceland, I would definately recommend trying this restaurant if you're a sushi lover! 💜

Very fresh! Really cool place, we had the fixed menu. The courses were creative and made with love. My only comment is the extremely outrageous price we paid for a small amount of sushi. Sure, I get it, food is expensive in Iceland, but we did not go back secondary to the cost. The service was good, we were totally accepted despite the fact that my 2 year old son gets wild sometimes. They never batted an eye at his antics, which made us really appreciate the place. Give it a try and spend your cash!

To only say that this was the best sashimi I’ve ever eaten, would be neglecting Sushi Social of the caliber of praise it deserves. Our hotel’s front desk person suggested we eat there, and it turned out to be during the annual Tuna Festival. Everyone there, working and dining, were absolutely beautiful. We were the only tourists there. I couldn’t believe Toro was not only on the menu, but multiple types. The sashimi brought back memories of the best toro I had had 15 years ago, and this quality surpassed my fond memories. It was truly a spiritual experience. I know I will remember those bites of premium fresh toro for the rest of my life. Their management asked me to consider writing a review as 80% of their business is local and they wanted to market to tourists. I highly discouraged this as I said they should keep this as a “hidden jewel” for locals. However, I said I would respect their wishes and give them the recommendation it deserves. Coming from this American, who lives on the beach in Florida, and eats sushi 1-2 times per week...This was the BEST sashimi I have ever had. It was a crowning end to our Icelandic vacation. Thank you so very much Sushi Social and staff. Lee and Tara Nettles Florida, USA

Went to this place a few years ago, had great sushi. This week, however, they were serving a freshly caught tuna fish, with different raw and lightly fried cuts from this magnificent beast. Simply sublime, elevated Reykavik cuisine to another level. Had a tuna tasting menu, brought the kids, who had chicken. Great food, drinks, absolute perfection. Pretty expensive but, hey, you are not finding such exquisite fish every day..

We both had chosen the Icelandic Feast the day before and booked a table. Food was fabulous! We also tried a couple of cocktails which were just as amazing! We had the pleasure of Elisabet as our server and she shined! Detailing each course as it came out, so we could fully enjoy our meal and know exactly what flavours we had. Highly recommend if in the city - come hungry as it's filling! Thank you Iceland :)

After wanting something a little different fro traditional Icelandic fare we decided to try Sushi Social. It was a busy. Saturday night and we did not have a reservation but were seated immediately at the Sushi bar which had a great view into the kitchen. The food was amazing..especially the grilled octopus and the grilled asparagus. The second time I had a fancy gin drink which was so good! I would highly recommend. Our hotel had a 15% coupon good for Sunday-thurs which might be something to look for.

The lovely Elisabet served us the lobster cigar, wagyu nigiri, salmon nigiri, samba roll and surf n turf roll. All were pretty tasty and service was excellent. We also had delicious cocktails, the Snow White and the Nihongo Sour which were both excellent!

We loved our meal at Sushi Social - the restaurant was lively and we appreciated that they found a table for our party. The tasting menu was a splurge, but totally worth it to try the Icelandic specialties. Beautifully and thoughtfully presented.

Visited Sushi Social on the recommendation of a YouTuber called Hrafna and it was definitely worth the visit. However, even on a Monday evening the place was very busy and I'd recommend booking a table in advance. We both had the "Simply the Best" set menu which we assumed would be similar to a "taster" menu where the courses were quite small... Ohhh no... Each course was a very generous serving, the food itself was absolutely amazing - great mix of Japanese sushi with an Icelandic twist. Our waiters did a great job of introducing each course and made us feel like we didn't need to ask for a single thing. Drinks wise, I stuck with beers but my wife enjoyed all of her cocktails. In terms of price, Sushi Social was probably more towards the luxury/gourmet side and it was certainly one of the more expensive dining experiences of our stay, but it was for a special occasion and in this instance, Sushi Social was very special indeed. Just make sure you leave enough room in your belly ahead of time!

Amazing sushi and a very cool vibe. Service was impeccable with a great choice of cocktails and bottled beers. We ordered the set meal , 5 or 6 courses, the first being being beef tartar - it was delicious Next up was a huge plate of sushi, a meal in itself. Some of the best I’ve ever eaten actually. Then salt fish in a tomato and lobster sauce with an accompanying pasta. The fish was beautiful but the sauce and pasta were cold. I asked if that was intentional and the answer was no ? Anyway, we ate the fish and left the sauce. Next up was the star of the show, a piece of beef with some truffle potatoes in a sauce. Unfortunately that was really cold and congealed. We sent it back and the Maitre D explained that the plate heater was broken. Anything that sat on a plate for more than 10 seconds became stone cold. A real shame. Cheesecake with crumb and sorbet came next, again it was amazing. The Maitre D gave us a discount, apologised and sent us on our way feeling happy but a little disappointed - the food looked amazing. Definitely going back for the sushi and cocktails , I’m giving the hot food a miss until the plate heater is sorted

First, I would like to thank that manager at Apotek for getting us an earlier reservation as a sister restaurant in Reykjavik as he could not get us into Apotek earlier than our reserved time of 8:30 pm. While the sushi that we had was very good, it is actually a fusion restaurant combining sushi with a South American steakhouse. The New Year's Eve menu was fabulous. While there were tasting menus, they permitted our party of six to split between the "Simply the Best" and choosing à la carte (main course being salmon). It should be mentioned that two of our party had significant food limitations due to sensitivities or allergies to certain items. The staff was particularly accommodating and made any and all necessary adjustments to adequately make our evening memorable. Particular emphasis is that the desserts are quite interesting with such items as Crunchy Bananas, Lava Dreams, Oreo Cheesecake and Popsicle Party. While the latter seems reminiscent of our childhood, its presentation is of interest. There are three popsicles above a bowl of ice. While this was not our first choice of restaurant for New Year's Eve, it met all of our expectations. Thank you!

Such a cool place to visit. Very much has tropical bar club feel to it which we enjoyed. Dined here on our last night in Reykjavik and booked a table in advance online (glad we did as the venue was full so unsure if they accept walk ins). Our table was slightly delayed so they sat us in a bar area and got us some drinks whilst we waited. There are so many options on the menu, highly recommended for non sushi lovers aswell (my partner does not like sushi and throughly enjoyed) service was good and friendly staff! Meal was expensive worked out around £120 but we were aware of this and happy with the quality. Highly recommend for a fun night out!

So, I hoped to spend a nice birthday dinner here but it wasn't really the case. We were 6 people place at an oval table and we were pretty tight. The first thing you notice when you come in is that the music is incredibly loud and we were not able to talk effectively with the people I was at the table with. We ordered a set menu, which consisted of 8 sushi pieces, one small-sized main course, and a sort of pre-packaged brownie. We spent around 8k each. I do not recommend this place if you want to chill and talk with the other guests. Plus the food was really mediocre and overpriced. Bad experience

Probably Best sushi ever. Normally i awoid shashimi because Its “too Fishy” i thought lets see if fish is fresh on Iceland. :-) it Were and the fish just melted inside your mouth. Very nice Cousy atmosphere and if you end with Elisabet your evening is secured. Great latte too. No problem in being one person only.

Fantastic food and exceptional service! My wife and I arrived in Reykjavik late Tuesday evening and headed straight over to the restaurant in the hope we could still get some food before it closed. Despite it being late, the staff were welcoming and nothing seemed like too much trouble for them. We both ordered the Icelandic Feast. As each fantastic course was served, Briet took the time to explain the dish, which really added to the whole experience for us; the service she provided was truly exceptional! We would definitely recommend dining here for the food, service and ambiance.
