From the amazing tostadas to the fantastic decontructed dessert this place cleverly blends the modern with the familiar and with such gusto. We had the six course tasting menu - Festival of Mexico and were amazed by the light, zesty and punchy flavours. It was a stunning celebration of Mexican food at its best but using the fabulous food of Iceland and all served by the impeccable Embla Rut. Thanks for a fabulous time. The best Mexican outside Mexico

Be sure to make reservations as it is very busy/packed in the restaurant. The vibes and decor are fun inside. The staff were very attentive and the food service was quick. The layout is a bit cramped. We ordered an appetizer to share, tacos and a quesadilla for dinner.
The tacos were two very small portioned tacos which were incredibly overpriced by US standards. The chicken quesadilla on the other hand was a very large portion for slightly more money.
If you’re ordering a meal each, an app, and possibly drinks expect to spend around $150 USD minimum. We did not order any drinks and the overall meal was still around $100 USD.

Visited on a weeknight for dinner, we had actually walked by several times and thought it was closed because the blinds were shut - but it was open the whole time! Stepping inside you're surrounded by fun themed decor and almost forget you're in Iceland. Good menu but we were a little disappointed in the quality of the quesadillas which were a bit stodgy and didn't taste as fresh as we'd have liked. Wished we'd gone for the tacos instead. A few vegan options but would like to have seen some protein in these (beans, soy protein etc). Excellent selection of Jarritos flavours. We tried the Tres Locos guacamole which features grapes and pistachio, not our favourite but we were glad to have given it a go! The salsas that came with this were tasty but lacking in spice but that may be a reflection of the Icelandic palate? Our server was Jana, she was an absolute star! She was really attentive, friendly and informative, but not over-bearing. When it came to looking at the dessert menu she remembered I had said I was vegan so she made sure to let me know what options I could have (nothing explicitly vegan on the menu itself but they had a passionfruit sorbet available).

The service was very random.
First we ordered drinks and 2 small dishes for sharing (starters) and then we waited for a long time until the waiter came back and asked us if we were ready to order the mains.
Then we got one of the staters to share and were told that the other starter was mot available - still no drinks.
Finally we got the drinks and then we ordered the main courses.
The portions are very small and the menu is quite expensive.
On top of that the service was not good.

Unfortunately I will say this place was one of the most expensive I had while in the city, and the one that lacked in taste. Their guacamole was delicious, apart from that I wasn’t impressed and felt like they don’t really know how to serve Mexican food. If you know what Mexican food is like, let me just tell you you will be disappointed.

This place was excellent — as good as Mexican I’ve had at top places in the US (in major cities). The tuna dish with pickled watermelon salsa was so good. Tortillas were fresh. The grape and pistachio guac was really interesting. Overall avocado was too creamy as I’m guessing they don’t get many fresh ones. So that’s a drawback. The biggest drawback is the insane pricing — $50 for fajitas, and some dishes were $60-90 USD. Crazy expensive but at least the quality was there.

We had a fantastic time yesterday. From the vibrant atmosphere to the delicious food, every aspect exceeded our expectations. Swaelish was attentive and friendly, and the dishes were bursting with flavor,. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience!

Had an incredible meal at Tres Locos in Reykjavik! The Mexican food was authentic and packed with flavor.
The vibe in the restaurant was fun and lively, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better.
Definitely recommend it if you're craving some tasty Mexican food!

Snaedis was such a perfect host she was always watchful of what we needed, got what we wanted quickly and cleared the plates fast as soon as we were finished. I was impressed how Snaedis cares to do a good job. This seems rare in the service industry unless we are in Michelin starred restaurants.
The food was very good as well. We enjoyed everything but especially the excellent service!

My girlfriend and I visited Tres Locos on the last night of our Iceland trip. We really enjoyed the food there, and I can’t recommend the beef fajitas enough. We were served by Embla Rut who was very helpful and also gave us some useful bits of information on some of the dishes. We really enjoyed Reykjavík (and Iceland as a whole), and we’d love to come back to this restaurant next time we’re in town :)

We are always looking for good places and experiences to recommend to Reykjavík visitors. We visited Tres Locos as we had heard great things about them and read positive reviews. The experience far exceeded our expectations and they will now be one of our top restaurants to recommend to our clients.
The atmosphere and the ambience is very colourful, light and happy. As you walk in, you feel that you will have fun.
We were welcomed with a big smile from our waitress, Tekla, and seated in a comfortable corner in the restaurant. Tekla was very quick to take our orders and answer all our questions about the menu. It was obvious that she was well trained and that she had deep knowledge about the food. We had some in our group that have food intolerances and Tekla was so understanding and accommodating to that.
The food was amazing and the portion sizes generous.
We also tried a few cocktails and they were lovely as well.
I know we will definitely recommend Tres Locos to everyone visiting Reykjavík.

What a great place! I went alone, had a voucher that covered 2 types of tacos the waiter suggested that I would get taco lamb and taco pork, both were delicious, thank you for the recommendation Tekla! definitely coming back to try more thank you!

Horrible service and overpriced average food. Went there at nine in the evening after a cinema trip as it was one of a few resaurants open until 23:30. Thr waiter was so unprofessional I have never experienced someone so rude in my life before. The food was so expensive. I had beef fahitas, two red wine glasses and one white wine glass and paid 14.500 ISK just for myself. Will never go there again.
