The first time we popped in here it was really busy so I asked if there was also seating upstairs and the guy behind the counter just shrugged and said I would have to go and look. Anyway, we returned a few days later when there was a different guy who was really friendly. Turns out there IS extra seating upstairs, but it's not very clear. We sat up there as it was a little quieter and cosier than downstairs. We ordered African stew from the counter which arrived quickly and was delicious, exactly what we needed, something warming on a cold day. We wanted the cheesecake too, which looked amazing, but sadly it had sold out. The selection of teas are also very good, I had one with peppermint and rosemary which was very nice. Would definitely go back here.

Lovely, comfortable atmosphere with great food! Our first night in Reykjavik and looking for somewhere that had a good range of vegetarian food. Stumbled across Mama which is a vegan restaurant. There was only one other group in here so it feel really cosy and comfortable. Had the Potato Soup and a Cup of Calm tea. Soup was so flavoursome and comforting and the tea was exactly what ‘it said on the tin’; calming. Would definitely go back.

Wanted some good, wholesome vegan food, and we were not disappointed. The dhal was AMAZING! We also had a couple of their homemade kombucha as well as peanut banana nice cream for dessert - portions were so generous, my daughters couldn't finish it. I had peanut butter bliss ball, and a tahini bliss ball - the tahini was the best. Really helpful, friendly service - the place was no cheap, but it was soo worth it.

We came here for lunch. It’s a causal place; we ordered our food at the counter, sat down and the food arrived shortly afterwards. I had the Chili Sin Carne and my wife at the lentil rice dish. Both were well spiced and delicious. The oat bar with raw cocoa dessert was a bit of a miss. The oat bar was good, but the cocoa topping was too thick and gooey soft. Nonetheless, this restaurant offers delicious vegan food.

Downtown Reykjavík, your must-do colorful photo on the rainbow street ending on an incredible rocket-like church ready to take off. But starting where? Well, the beginning of the REGNBOGN (rainbow in Icelandic) is Mama. The vegan restaurant is a refuge for the heart, they obviously offer delicious rainbow salad on the menu, so you can just go in and use your crazy icelandic vocabulary knowledge even if I assure you you'll want to taste everything. Coming to Mama, you won't just see the rainbow you'll experience it and to experience it means to end on an orgasm... CAKE (their famous cheesecake). Body, mind, soul are nurtured with the most comforting food, atmosphere and people. It is not uncommon to have artists around us sharing their beautiful songs. The vibe is cozy & deep, artsy & calm, funky & sacred, it can be everything you want. Just add your vibe and nurture your body temple, Mama's waiting and she welcomes everyone.

Wonderfully tasty, super healthy, in a relaxed and unpretentious setting. Owners and staff keep it simple by ordering up at the register and then they proceed to create your order. Husband had the daal, with yogurt and just a touch of honey. Said it was some of the best he’s ever had. I had the rainbow salad which lived up to its name with a full range of color and taste between its chickpeas, cabbage and blueberries. The miso dressing was spectacular. The hummus plate was wonderful with fresh vegetables and warm freshly baked bread. Only slight disappointment was the sesame chocolate ball I tried for dessert - a bit too dry for my taste. But a lovely evening

Chilled cafe, friendly 60s vibe, delicious food- try the daal or Japanese Miso soup (much more substantial and delicious than usual miso soup) both excellent - and the rainbow salad is also delicious and imaginative with a tasty tahini- based sauce. Also the smoothies are particularly good. Great find in nice part of Reykjavik.

Our meals were absolutely delicious. We had the hummus platter with artisanal bread and fresh, crisp veggie sticks. Very tasty! The Dahl was luscious and the rainbow salad a gorgeous mix of colors and tastes. The peanut butter chocolate pie was heavenly. The service was exceptional. I hope to dine there again during this trip to Iceland.

This was such a delightful oasis to enjoy a late lunch and relax! My husband and I are gluten free and the menu is almost entirely gluten free! The food was so filling and comforting with wonderful flavors and textures! The staff was kind and welcoming and we enjoyed eating upstairs in a more quiet environment. I wish we would have found this place sooner, we would have gone more often!

This is a lovely all vegan cafe in the centre of downtown Reykjavik. Considering the very expensive venues in this part of town I thought the food was reasonably priced. I had the Dahl ala Mama which was a beautifully spiced and hearty red lentil stew, as well as their signature blueberry and vanilla cheesecake (sheesecake). Both were delicious. A range of coffees are available along with a tea menu. The smoothie bowls sound amazing (I haven’t ruled out going back if I have time) and there are also salads, sandwiches and juices on the menu. This place has a very relaxed and casual vibe, I would definitely recommend you drop in. Oh and they also take bookings - I only know this as I overheard a member of staff taking a call about reserving a table.

My friend who is a vegan noticed the sign as we were walking around. We went back for dinner later that evening. Walked up the stairs to discover this very welcoming environment. We loved this place so much, that we ordered dinner the following night. We had carrot soup and beat soup, hot tea, coffee, matcha, and desserts. There is another level up for seating. Two water closets on the main level. If you happen to be handicap, this won't be an option for you unfortunately. Unless you can call your order in and they come downstairs? They do offer take away meals. Even if you eat meat, this place is worth trying. The flavors are amazing.

Alright, let's start with the food.. De-lish baby! Who would have thought that the nicecream would be 10x better than any ice cream I have ever had in my life. It wasn't just my mouth that exploded with ecstatic bliss, my belly was overflowing with joy. Now to the staff.. the people there have such an approachable and unbelievably friendly presence! Super easy to talk to. I have to recommend their lovely, heart warming cacao, at least ask them about that magic. Over and out, thanks Mama!

Mama is a family, plant-based restaurant/community in deep central rekjavik. The food is bright and modern, with fresh pressed juices, high-level herb teas and the famous cacao. There are often events and live music. I would say its greatest attribute is for people of like mind to connect and relax

When you’re traveling with kids, it’s hard to find something that is healthy but filling, kid friendly but high quality, and delicious without being pretentious. Mama was amazing, and exceeded our expectations in every one of those ways. As we had read, it was a little tricky to find, since the entrance is down a dead end alley on the left, and then up some stairs to a loft. Be persistent and you will be rewarded. In a city where many of the more renowned restaurants serve very small portions, we found ourselves so full we brought left overs back to our rental. My son is unbearably picky, but he loved the lentil chips and devoured the hummus. It was so nice to eat fresh vegetables, fresh sourdough bread, and incredibly delicious wraps and stews/curries. The sauces, particularly the chipotle sauce and the cilantro cashew cream, were incredibly delicious. The service was very friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was calming and relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. When I’m traveling to a new place, I like to try as many new things as possible, but I’m pretty sure we’ll be back because it was just that good!
