This food hall concept works really well. Whilst small, there are a number of nice restaurants within the food hall which complement each other and give you a good choice. A nice way to spend an evening with friends and not too expensive.
Best food I've had in Iceland so far. I had the cod and my partner had the duck. He said it's the best duck less had in decades and my cod was perfect. Even the potatoes were amazing.
The staff was very helpful and gave...us a list of other good places to eat.More
The Hlemmur Food Hall is a great place to go, especially if you're not sure what you want to eat. We opted for Krost because it had the best wine choices (in my mind). We were glad we did. The meal that we had was...excellent. Servers very friendly and attentive.More
On our last night in Reykjavik we didn't have anywhere booked but noticed the local food hall - Hlemmur Mathöll was full every night so we decided to give it a go
After wandering around the hall and taking in the vibrant atmosphere we settled...on Krost and got a seat at the end of their bar
The menu has some simple but perfect meals
I had the grilled white cheese for a starter, which was delicious. Cooked perfectly with a wonderful gooey centre, with spring onions and served with thin crackers and a dipping sauce.
We had the Grilled Chicken for a main, which again was really, really nice. You get a decent portion and it was covered in lashings of mozzarella (right up my street!)
We also drank our first schooners of Einstök Pale Ale and it went down a treat. So much so, we went to the Einstök bar on Bankastræti afterwards and bought some in Duty Free on the way home!
Anyway, I digress, this is a fantastic, vibrant food hall for a late night meal and to mix with the locals and we recommend Krost is where you choose to eat!More
During our trip to Iceland, we went to the Hlemmur Food Hall and the Borg29 food hall, and we've been to plenty in the US. Krost has topped any food hall food we've had, with presentation and flavors you'd expect from a fine dining establishment,...all done in a tiny kitchen! We started out with the baked French cheese and honey and the Arancini balls, both of which were delicious. However, the true highlight of the meal were the mains. My husband had the cod, which was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth, and I had the burger. Hands down, the best burger I have had, and I've been to burger places run by James Beard winners - Krost's was on a different level. We will absolutely be back!More
Great selection and variety of foods, you can sit down and relax or pick up and take away. Great location, close to the city Centre so can walk there no issues or catch a bus as the terminal is next door.
We loved Krost and will definitely visit next time we are in Reykjavik. Lively, fun atmosphere with amazing food (I had the cod, my husband had the steak and our teens had burgers) and good wine/beer. We went on a Saturday night and the place...was bustling with both tourists and locals alike. We shared a table with locals, who could not have been more friendly. Great night, great place, great food!More
