Really good quality and delicious food with a really great selection for vegetarians. The waiting staff recognised that we were vegetarians and were able to help us avoid hidden animal based ingredients. Tapas style restaurant that is reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in Reykjavik and definitely worth the money for the quality of food. Nice ambience and well decorated. We turned up after 9pm and were able to get a seat and they were still serving food. Friendly staff and quick service too. Would recommend.

We visited here on our last night in Iceland, booking is essential, the place is small and gets packed! We sat on the ground floor which has a lovely view of the church. Meal for four cost £160 which included two plates and a side each, two beers, two cocktails and two soft drinks and a dessert. There’s a lovely selection on different dishes and the sharing ethos allows you to sample some really different tastes. We had beef pancake, fish stew, cod, artic char, prawns, duck and lamb, all really tasty. Only disappointment was that one of our dishes they’d run out of but didn’t tell us till they brought the rest of the food, we did order something else but it came after we’d finished everything else, also the waitress was very keen on clearing the plates while some of us were still eating (not sure if that’s an Icelandic thing or just her way?) all in all though, a really nice meal and I’d highly recommend.

My husband and I visited here for our 20 th anniversary. We prebooked and were booked in at 1830 (it was happy hour when we got there) and it was already packed. They were having to turn people away who were just turning up. So booking is advisable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were advised to have around two tapas dishes each. These were not like Spanish tapas and more like a meal in itself. We chose three dishes each and soon regretted it when we saw how big the portions were. The tomato soup and toasted cheese sandwich was absolutely delicious and the bowl was huge, This was one individual tapas option, and yet it would be the equivalent of a lunch or a light bite in a lot of UK restaurants. My husband opted for a steak dish which he said was tasty as well. We had a bruschetta between us which was served on a sourdough base. Again very fresh pesto, tomatoes and the sourdough bread is so flavoursome. I also had a nut roast which again tasted fresh, full of flavour and lots of texture. My husband had another meat dish that was like kebab skewers and he said if he wasn't so full, he could've happily eaten it all again. During happy hour, a bottle of Moet champagne worked out to around £55 (7000 isk), or £5 more than the standard house red wine and so we felt that was quite a good price and not too dissimilar to what you pay in UK restaurants for Most anyway. We shared the chocolate dessert although in fairness, we were being greedy as we were already full, but saw other people have the dessert and it looked so delicious that we couldn't resist it. The restaurant itself is very modern and had a vibrant atmosphere. Very clean, great selection of food and drink and very close to the cathedral. The outside is similar to a log cabin type building. The whole meal, with drinks, starters, mains and desserts was 18535 isk or around £116. Given in the restaurant in Perlan we were charged the equivalent of £30 each for burger and chips, we felt ROK was not only superb food, but good value for money. Iceland is VERY expensive and for a good meal out, this was by far our favourite restaurant that we tried.

So very disappointed, we went last night after reading rave reviews for the food but left hungry and annoyed. The service was slow but we were in no rush enjoying a bottle of wine it took just over an hour for the food. They came with complimentary bread and offered free desert due to the delay, we thought great as long as the food was worth waiting for. Sadly it wasn’t, the food was not fresh or tasty. We had the chicken skewer which was dry and tasteless, the fish pie was nice but not a lot of fish, the bruschetta which upon finding a hair sent back which really put a dampener on things, the other dishes came which were potatoes with aioli which were ok but again not very fresh and lastly the beef taco which tasted foul. At the point we decided to leave and offered to pay for the wine and the dishes which were edible and politely declined the free dessert. The waiting staff were great and very apologetic and the place looks lovely but let down by the kitchen.

This restaurant came highly recommended so we were excited to try it. I don't know if we went on an off night or simply ordered the wrong dishes but it just missed the mark for us. Out of 5 dishes the arctic char was good but the rest were not at all.The wine list was great and we enjoyed a nice bottle but we left hungry and disappointed with our last meal in Reykjavik. We sat for a long time with half eaten plates before someone eventually came to clear them. When they realized we didn't enjoy it they were very good in offering different options and modifying the bill which was positive. It's a popular place and others seem to love it but in my opinion there are better places to eat in the city.

We had a very elegant and delicious dinner. The ambiance is classy and contemporary, and the servers were great. It’s tapas style food, which is excellent because you can try a few Icelandic dishes at once. I enjoyed the reindeer, Arctic char, and risotto while my fiancé had the tacos, duck, and lamb. We thoroughly enjoyed everything, as well as some lovely cocktails. The only thing that kept this from being a five star experience was that it took FOREVER to get our food, and was quite expensive. Don’t come here if you’re in a rush or have scheduled plans afterwards. It took an hour to get our food and we then had to rush to make later plans. It made what would have been a perfect experience quite stressful. Also strongly recommend making a reservation.

We were recommended by a local shop keeper to try Rok, and especially the reindeer small plate. We arrived on a Friday at 6:25 without reservations. The manager told us we could have a table if we were done by 7:30. Our meal was outstanding. They recommend getting two small plates per person, which was more than enough. We had the fish pie, the duck confit, the reindeer, and a mushroom pesto bruschetta. Everything with the exception of the mushroom pesto dish was outstanding. There was nothing wrong with the mushroom dish, it just wasn’t on the same level as the others. Sadly the desserts looked so good but they needed our table for a reservation but offered to move us upstairs for dessert and coffees. If you have a choice, sit upstairs. It is less cramped and is far more peaceful plus if you’re on the sofas, you’re rewarded with a gorgeous view of the Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral. We had a fantastic meal and pleasant and efficient service. It was a great pick for our first night in Reykjavik. Highly recommend. The blood orange cheesecake and the rhubarb crumb cake were terrific!

We visited after reading the positive reviews on trip advisor and can confirm that the reviews are true - this place is wonderful. The service was a little slow but we weren’t in a rush so this was okay. We went for lunch and did the 2 dishes for 2950 ISK deal - I’d recommend this as you can choose any two dishes on the menu and it makes for an affordable and delicious lunch. We had the steak, lamb, chicken kebabs and traditional fish pie - all of which tasted fresh and delicious. They’re good sized portions so two is enough per person. We also treated ourselves to the cheesecake for dessert which, though was not a traditional cheesecake as we know it, was yummy all the same. Highly recommend Rok restaurant to others, particularly with the great lunch deal.

Charged 6000 for three glasses of champagne under the guise of "happy hour." Please just tell your customers the price or give us a menu when we ask. Instead, when we asked for a happy hour menu, they told us they didn't have one and that champagne was the current happy hour drink. We assumed that it was like every other place in Iceland with happy hour drinks ranging from 900-1600 so we went ahead and ordered. Nope. They charge you an extra 800 for 7 pieces of licorice and 10 pieces of cantaloupe that we didn't even want, didn't know we were ordering, and didn't eat. It's not hard to be upfront with your customers--I would've gladly bought cocktails at that price point.

After a great day at the Blue Lagoon we wanted to spend our last night in Iceland on a special note and we couldn't have found a better place, Inside is welcoming with a great view of the iconic cathedral. The waiting staff are super friendly and efficient. We chose 3 courses each , from Green , Meat and Fish ,and each one was utterly delicious. There looked to be a good range of Vegan options as well. The two chefs in the kitchen , who you can see working , deserve a lot of credit. With the superb food , cool music and friendly atmosphere we could have stayed there all night. A definite place to go to on our next visit to an amazing country.

As recommended by friends, we enjoyed “smallish” plates, but five dishes with beers was a delicious and not extravagant dinner. My partner passed on the cured reindeer with blue cheese, almonds and burned butter, but we shared sautéed char with fried potatoes and Israeli couscous, lemon-cured salmon with goat cheese, a salad with greens, quinoa, Parmesan and perfect avocado, and mushroom risotto. Our server was from Romania; she said all the other staff (all women as far as we could tell, wearing black leather skirts or pants) were Icelandic, and that the chefs were “from Africa” and Palestine. Dinner was fairly pressed. Guests were mainly Icelandic. Stop by or call to make a reservation to make sure you get a table.

I walked in off the street and they were able to seat me upstairs at a small table that was great! Ordered a glass of house cabernet and two of their small plates. I had the salmon with goat cheese on baguette and the reindeer with blue cheese sauce! I was blown away! Excellent service and a phenomenal value. A glass of wine and two small plates was plenty of food to enjoy and clocked in at just below $40 US. Highly recommend this place if you are in Reykjavik! Great location right by Hallgrimskirkja.

We went to ROK on last night in Iceland. Fortunately, we went early, so we did not have to wait for our table. However, by the time we were leaving, there was a long wait. We highly recommend to make a reservation. Atmosphere is lively and casual. Servers were very nice and friendly. They made some time to chat with us although they were quite busy. They serve tapa style dishes, and each person generally orders 2 to 3 dishes. We ordered Thai Shrimp, Taco, Mushroom Risotto, Arctic Char, and Fried Cod with a bottle of Pinot Grigio. We like tapa style which we can taste variety of dishes, and we thought they were all good. The restaurant is conveniently located right by Hallgrimskrikja church.

We were exploring Reykjavik on the last day of our holiday. We’d not planned eat here but just as we got to Hallgrimskirkja it started to rain heavily. We took shelter in the restaurant and decided to have lunch. The service was excellent with friendly, helpful, accommodating staff. We were looking at a set menu however the waitress explained that a two plate lunch option was actually better value. We went with the recommendation but didn’t save any money as we spent more on wine!. The food was excellent, we had two meat and two fish dishes which we really enjoyed. Taking into account the location (near the big church) and the fact the Iceland is not a cheap place to eat we thought the prices were very reasonable. I’m so glad the weather made us seek shelter and eat here it was great experience. We enjoyed it so much we stayed for several more glasses of wine after we’d finished our meal. I’d recommend this restaurant and would definitely eat there again.

The place is romantic in the evening and the staff friendly. The food, however, does not meet the expectations. Though the tacos and the very small ceviche were tasty, the side salad was something gas station restaurants offer. In addition, the cesar salad was a huge disappointment with exactly 4 salad leaves and huge bread crutons that filled nicely almost the whole bowl. What a pity as the premises are beautiful.
