There are no words to describe the cinnamon buns! They are sweet, but not too sweet. The tops are crispy and the center is gooey just the way a good cinnamon bun should be. They also have an amazing and eclectic variety of flavors that they use like black licorice and raspberry, rhubarb, and velvety chocolate fillings. I took 2 loaves of the rye (with seeds and more seeds) home to share with friends.
We "had" to wait 12 minutes for a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls to come out of the oven. So so yummy!
I will visit here as often as possible during my trips to Iceland!

Came across this bakery on my way up to the church and decided to drop in on my way back to my hotel. So sorry I did now as I first bought a cinnamon scroll, which was fabulous. My friend arrived from the USA next day and I took her to the bakery. I was disappointed to find that they had had problems with the ovens that day and could only make a few different types of pastries. The woman behind the counter showed us a few of the pastries they did have and we decided to give the rhubarb and chocolate pastry a try. Well, it was that good we went back the next day for a piece but to our horror they had sold out. We went back the day after and bought a piece and the day after that. We were back too late from a tour the fourth day, so missed out but went early next day to be able to have a piece and satisfy our craving. A must try and can be addictive.

We ran in one of the Braud & Co places for a quick breakfast item for the kids. The cinnamon bun was huge and very fresh (still warm). My other daughter enjoyed some fruity deliciousness (I couldn't tell you the name) that the Baker picked out for her. Prices are reasonable too!

On my recent trip to Iceland a taxi man took me to this bakery as I was looking for good quality bread. The lady who served me was so friendly and polite and recommended me a typical Icelandic loaf which was delicious. In addition, because I was a visitor she very kindly gave me a typical Icelandic cake to try free of charge. On my next trip to Iceland this is the place I will definitely visit. For those who like good quality bread and cakes this is the place to visit.

We arrived in the city at 5:00 AM, and we made it a point to seek out this bakery because I knew it would be one of the few places open that early in the morning. Great food with lots options and coffee. Limited seating at a window so plan to eat on the go.

Great sweet pastries that taste better than they look.
On a very snowy Sunday morning, the weather had done away with our plans for the day so we decided to go for coffee and pastries, Braud & Co was the closest option. We were not disappointed, there was a small selection but what there was, was very tasty, initially I didn't think they looked very apatizing but they were lovely and married up with bottomless coffees from the stall next door a snowy morning became a rather tasty one.

May be my expectations were too high after reading all these glaring reviews.
If you don’t like extremely sweet baked goods, this is not for you.
I also thought it’s weird that you can’t get any hot coffee in a bakery like this.

My wife and I are locals and frequent patrons of Braud & Co., which has several branches. It's a bakery rather than a restaurant that offers some excellent breads and pastries, although not the very best. The shop on Frakkastígur seems to have been given over entirely to tourists, who crowd in and don't follow any COVID cautions. In this shop, a number of the staff are incompetent and not very pleasant; and evidently none of them speak Icelandic, which means that we cannot use our own language when we shop there (so we have stopped, since we find this unacceptable. Bad as that is, most of them seem not to be very good at English either. The bakers seem to be devoted to overcooking. You could possibly ask for less-overdone items if the staff were cooperative and spoke some language or other, but as it is, you shouldn't bother—it's a waste of time. I'm not sure whether the other Braud & Co.shops are going in the same direction, but we have definitely written this one (Frakkastígur) off and caution others—especially locals—to avoid burnt bread, incompetent service, and perhaps even a dose of COVID-19 and look elsewhere.

Hands down the best cinnamon bun I have ever had. The outside of the building has an old bike with a sign on it that tells you the bakery name. The building is painted in what appears to be graffiti and the windows display all the yummy pastry inside. It is a very small place and business is good. A must go.

We popped in this morning for breakfast after reading previous reviews and I’m so glad we did!
We went to the one closest to our hotel but I know there’s about 4 in various areas of Reykjavík.
Hubby & I both had the cinnamon rolls which were still warm from the oven and they were AMAZING! Very sweet but if you have a sweet tooth you will enjoy them. We had a coffee with them and it was a reasonable cost, especially given the cost of food in Iceland.
So good that we are going back tomorrow morning before we leave for the airport!

I was expecting to like Braud & Co a bit more based on all of the stellar reviewed. I got 5 different items on two days, both early in the morning when they were still fresh. All were good but none truly blew me away. I enjoyed the pretzel croissant the most as it was the perfect blend of the two. The cinnamon role was a bit disappointing. I meant, sure, it was delicious. But it was a bit lacking in sweetness, mainly because it had hardly any cinnamon sugar on top. Maybe I'm just used to the American style.

We went early on a weekday morning (around 7 am) for a pretzel and cinnamon roll, but neither of those were ready, which was very disappointing. Nonetheless, I tried the raspberry and vanilla croissant. It was so delicious I am glad I was forced to try it by the 40" wait time for the cinnamon rolls.

We knew nothing about this outstanding bakery prior to visiting Reykjavik, and we discovered it by chance as we were exploring this colourful city and doing some photography. We were drawn to a group of brightly painted buildings on the corner of Njalsgata and Frakkastigur: the brilliantly dazzling blue, and the vibrant red and green of two of the buildings, and the striking (and more gentle) psychedelic colours and the quirky mural which covered the third building. And it was then that we discovered the secret that lay within the multicoloured building - a local bakery of epic standing within the community: Brauð & Co. The tempting display of freshly-baked cinnamon rolls in the window, and the intoxicating smell wafting around, was enough to draw us in.
The bakery is well known to, and much-loved by, the locals. It specialises in sour dough bread, and a delectable range of cinnamon buns, slices and pastries. The cinnamon buns, kanilsnudar, are a local specialty, and inspired by the traditional Danish cinnamon roll. They were flying out the door, with a queue to get them while they were still warm. One bite was all that took for us to returned each of the next three days for more. We sampled a number of the traditional cinnamon rolls: the traditional, one with blueberries and liquorice, and one with a topping of pistachio nuts. We also sampled some of the slices and pastries: the rhubarb slice, and a vanilla pastry with a mango custard. All were memorable, and totally delicious.
It’s worth seeking out. I believe there are a couple of other outlets of Brauð & Co in Reykjavik. This one is a short walk from Laugavegur, and the Hallgrimskirkja. You will be rewarded with some delectable treats. You can also grab a coffee there to compliment your morning or afternoon tea. It should not be missed when you are in Reykjavik.

This place is the best! We stopped in on the way to the church. The cinnamon buns were freshly baked, light and so very delicious. We bought a few extras to take with us . The chocolate croissant was fantastic as well. If ever in Iceland, we will return to this bakery. We are already cravings their cinnamon buns.

This was one of the most delicious cinnamon rolls I've ever eaten. This place is very bare bones so don't expect a dining experience. Pastries are strictly to-go and the staff are kept very busy with a line frequently out the door. If you want a delicious breakfast on the go, no hassle, this is your spot.
