First point of arrival for the family in Iceland. We came for lunch as a family, arrived without booking on a Friday and got a table without an issue.
Orders: the lamb sandwich was very nice and significant in size. My son order the bread and hummus, he wasn’t a fan of the hummus as it was flavoured. I braved the 4 course tourist Icelandic meal… comes all on one nicely arranged plate… for me… fish with the meat didn’t go, the meats were okay but there was a lack of compliments. Glad I tried it to say I’ve tried X… would I order again? No.
The waitresses were knowledgable on the beers and also had good bantered between them on their preferences. Service was the main plus for me here. We just missed out on the happy hour.. looks like 3-5 gets cheap(er) drink

We entered this pub with the idea of just having a drink before dinner, but captivated by the dishes of the other guests we decided to stop to eat as well. A decision that turned out to be a great one :) to start with, I recommend the tacos with cod, really special flavours. To continue, we ordered the lamb dish to share, which we found excellent (coming from a person who usually doesn't even eat this meat, it makes you understand how good it was!). Bill in line with Icelandic standards, very kind waiters and well-deserved 5 stars also for the choice of music that kept us company throughout the dinner :)

The best of all components: interesting restaurant decor, excellent food and best of all was Hildur was our server. She is friendly, very attentive, helped guide us through a 7 course Icelandic tasting menu and suggested we add a seafood soup to be served after the 5th tasting item. Not only that but she made time to talk to us about the culture, Icelandic letter and word pronunciations. She very much elevated out experience at the restaurant. If eat at this restaurant make sure to see if she’s working and asked to be seated in her section!

We had read a lot of reviews about the food and wait staff and we were not disappointed.
Had the 7 course Icelandic Journey tasting menu and all dishes were beautifully presented, exceptionally flavoured and tasty, and served by lovely wait staff. Our thanks to local Hildur who waited on us.
We ate upstairs in the corner booth on a Tuesday night and the place was full. I highly recommend a visit. All meals being delivered around us looked just as amazing. By the time we finished all courses, we were happily full.

We wanted a meal synonymous with Iceland and found this lovely Gastropub. The menu had us slightly outside our comfort zone with some of the items but there was ample choice that would meet everyone’s needs. I had the braised pig cheek and my wife had the Ling (like cod). Both were exceptional and cooked to a very high quality; the added touches to the dishes were well received. For dessert I had the Devil’s Cake and again was excellent, the additional strawberries, raspberries and frozen raspberries were exquisite. As others have mentioned it is a little pricey but was well worth it

My group came to Reykjavik a few days before our NCL cruise was to embark. Looking for a place to eat supper within walking distance from our hotel led us to the Happy Pig.
We were a party of 5 without a reservation but we were immediately seated upstairs. The restaurant is clean and richly decorated.
None of us speaks Icelandic but that was not a problem. Fast, friendly service along with delicious entrees made our supper very enjoyable for a group of strangers in a strange land.

We stopped in our last night in Iceland because they had dark beer, which I find lacking in summer anywhere & I have literally had 1 good dark beer the entire time I have been in Iceland & Norway. Good beer (I ordered the flight) and even better apps & service. Karen was very attentive & helpful, and the smoked cod dip was the best smoked fish dip I have ever had- & that’s saying something, as I grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula & on smoked trout and whitefish. Just yummy.

We came upon this bistro on our way back from the marina and went in initially just for happy hour, we had some drinks and played cards.
Later moving to another table to eat.
I ordered the grilled salmon and my partner had the slow cooked lamb (£50!).
Both were very well cooked.
Would recommend

The food here was delicious!! I'm still thinking about it. I got the Sweet Citizen and it was so good. The crispy Bang Bang brocolli was great and they were nice enough to remake my son's burger after they brought it out covered in ketchup (which he hates). It was really expensive, but that seems to be the case in most Reykjavik restaurants.

Wow! What an absolute gem of a find! We found this lovely restaurant on a walk one cold afternoon! And was excited to see on the board outside we could try some proper Icelandic grub! Back at the hotel we did some research and review reading and headed over to the FB page where there were a few offers… as Iceland’s so expensive this was a bonus! We booked a table and headed there the following night! WOW what a beautiful place! The restaurant is super cute and the surrounding are really a lovely feel of being in Iceland! We ordered the offer that was a 3 corse meal but 2 for 1 offer! We also orders a taster board to try the local cuisine, Horse Carpaccio, Smoked Puffin, Flatkaka and Minke Whale! OMG it was absolutely delicious! The following 3 courses were as good! The beef was cooked to perfection, the lobster was incredible and the chocolate nemesis cake was to die for! We got through a few jugs of Mojito and had to undo the buttons on our jeans (hehe) the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the staff were helpful, kind and attentive! 10/10 Definitely go you will NOT be disappointed and considering the cost of everything in Iceland this was excellent value for money! Thank you team x

We went here for lunch the day we arrived, after walking the length of Laugavegur in search of a place that looked like it served real food. We weren’t disappointed! Great seafood soup and fish tacos. Relaxed service outside, it was a mostly sunny day but the blankets provided at the table came in handy.

We had a burger and the grilled salmon. Both tasted good and was served quickly after ordering. Some components of the salmon dish were lukewarm but still fully edible. I would not describe the dishes as special or unusual - but this is not meant to be negative.
We noticed our service - it was very friendly and accommodating.

Friendly and warm atmosphere with attentive service, excellent food, creative cocktails and extensive local beer list. Our party of 3 enjoyed the lamb shoulder for two, grilled salmon and the cheesecake dessert made with Skyr and crowberries. The rhubarb cocktail was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend this wonderful spot.
