I stayed there on the night of the 8th December 2023 & not even an hour had passed after I checked in was this scene of drunk first nations people arguing & fighting outside in the carpark area & on the motel balcony. Police showed...up n eventually sorted the situation out but real nice trying to relax after a 9 hr drive & this happens. I was worried about the Prado being damaged ect so a restless night, up at 5am as I couldn't wait to get out of there. Also, it took a couple of hours to cool the room down as the aircon had almost had it or they don't clean the filter, so literally a sauna & I was thinking of jumping in the shower to cool down but from looking at it, I decided against it as it was dirty ect. The bed was hard as & floor needed a sweep & mop out. No TV remote & no wifi as advertised on the dated welcome information pack. Completely different menu than what is on their website, so plenty of misrepresentation going on & a price of $140 to boot. I would strongly suggest that you bypass this place as it has seen better days & better management. Total Headache !More

Stopped in at this iconic pub for a drink. Officially known as the National Hotel its one claim to fame is that in the past a publican painted it purple. Now the ’Purple Pub', as it is known, attracts tourists simply because it is purple...and stands out in the town's main street.More

We had a well cooked steak and a pizza that was ok. We expected pub food and that's what we got. You could sit inside in the aircon or out the back in the beer garden. We chose the beergarden. Service was outback Queensland -...a bit indifferent and that's ok.More

We went for sunday roast dinner which was value for money but on going to bar for drinks was met by a very rude bar woman. We went down to the Albion for drinks.

The Purple Pub is indeed purple and I’m led to believe it is quite famous in the Gulf. I arrived in town just before 7 and the team were able to serve me a fabulous, hearty roast with beef, pork and roast veggies for a...great price (it was a Tuesday so the roast was all that was available but boy was it good). The quintessential Aussie barman who greeted me was friendly and gave me some tips on accomodation including the free campsite just down the road. I’ll take away good memories of the Purple Pub.More

7 of us booked a table for dinner for the Sunday night roast, which BTW was delicious and great value at $18. Disappointing that the 'greeting' we received from the lady behind the bar was anything but friendly - in fact downright rude. Her manner...did not change the whole evening, not a smile, not a single thank you. Nothing. We remained incredibly polite and thanked them for our enjoyable dinner. If this lady is the owner she either needs a holiday or some hospitality/friendship training.More

Called in for a cold drink and were gobsmacked to be served by our daughters first boyfriend from the Barossa Valley - it was his 3rd shift after arriving on the Saturday - interesting pub and worth a visit

I was blown away by the helpfulness of the staff in The Purple Pub drive-through. We bought a couple of beverages, but didn't want a huge bag of ice. So, what did they do; they gave us a small bag of ice that suited our...needs. Now that's excellent customer service. Thank you.More

On entry to the Purple Pub I was greeted by a very rude bar lady who clearly didn’t want to be there, the pub is quaint and the locals friendly. The Albion around the corner is a much better Pub to visit and eat, at...least the staff are friendly.More

Worst pub food I have ever had in my life. Horrific, I feel sick now. Burnt to a crisp chicken parmi, soft and old ‘hot’ chips for the kids meal. Not even my kids could finish their meal. Barman a great bloke, wait staff lovely,...can’t fault them at all. Food on the other hand an absolute disaster.More

We had their $12 lunch special which was amazing value for money. Everything inside as well as outside is purple, including the staff uniforms. Bit of a gimmick but why not. Gets people in to their business.

We were waiting for a tour on the Gulflander so called in here for a beer so I could take a look inside. It is a typical country pub with locals decorating the seats. It needs a bit of TLC to spruce it up a...bit but the beers were a good price, service not over friendly but not rude. I liked the novelty of having a beer at the Purple Pub and just in case you wondered it is purple inside and out.More

Getting pretty tied looking however, it does have good old fashioned pub food. There is a big beer garden area out the back. The front unfortunately is full of pokies which takes away from the country pub atmosphere. If in Normanton it is a box...to to tick, but it is just a pub.More

We had booked in at 6.45 for dinner. We arrived on time and when we went to order we got told all service was closed and no more meals were to be ordered. We explained that we had a reservation and all he would say...to that he was not sure when we would get our dinner but it would NOT be less than an hour, We came to the town specifically to have a meal there so there is no way we will come back. So if you plan to eat there do not expect to be fed. To top it off everything else was closed in town.More

We went on Sunday night with the view to have a meal. The menu is huge but our decision was simplified. Roast beef or pork only on Sundays. The veggies were diverse but not well cooked. The meat was fine. The bottle shop was closed...but they sold us take away wine at the bar. The pub has WiFi.More
