A truly delightful tea garden / cafe run by a friendly English couple Nick and Sam. They have the widest selection of proper leaf teas I’ve ever seen listed, and offer some lovely home-made cakes served in enormous portions (especially welcome after a number of miles of purposeful levada walking). And the gardens are delightful (the scent of jasmine is gorgeous as you walk up the short driveway) and the views impressive. Worth ringing Nick in advance if like us you plan to arrive as a large if straggling group of 30 thirsty walkers! Very well signed off the levada.

We made a return visit today at the end of our lavada walk. A friendly English run tea house offering a wide range of tea, coffees, cakes, soft and alcoholic drinks. We each had a Croquette Madame, glass of wine and delicious home-made scones with butter and jam.
Always an enjoyable experience sitting on their lovely terrace with flowers and great views. The City No. 47 bus stops right outside. We will be back!

This a lovely place to stop for lunch or drink and cake or better still both. We’ve been coming for several years now whether after a Levada walk just getting the bus up from Funchal. This year we came on the bus and walked after. We made it a lunch and a cake visit. We both started with a glass of wine then I had the filo parcels filled with feta plus apricot and salad and my other half had the baked Camembert with I think Madeira wine and garlic plus bread for dipping. Hope I’ve got that right now we are home its difficult to remember exact ingredients. We followed this with one piece of delicious Lemon Cake and coffee. The cake was quite big so glad we shared but I’d really love the recipe it was just so good. Lovely views from the garden and quite a peaceful location with a bus down on the quiet road outside the entrance.

Visited day afternoon during an excellent walk. We sat outside in the garden area under the shade - very peaceful. We had very good pot of tea which was served in bone China cups with was very good to see. We had cheese scones - home made and freshly baked which were very good. We also had the cheese selection, nachos and also the baked camembert- all of which were excellent. I particular my son loved the camembert with toast. This is an excellent tea house with very friendly owners ..... we try to visit each time we come to Madeira and are never disappointed.

We can only highly recomend this beautiful litle tea house at the end of the hike from Monte along Lavada dos Tornos. Excellant service, deliceous scones and tea acompagnied by classical music on the veranda surrounded by flowers. Despite Corona it's open from Tuesday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If walking on the Levada dos Tornos you really must stop off at the Jasmine Tea House. Stay on the Levada and you will see a sign and a set of steps that lead you down to this amazing little tea house. We treated ourselves to some lemon drizzle cake which was freshly baked and sublime and a lovely pot of English tea.
Thank you Jasmine Tea House we will be back for sure.

Stopped by whilst out walking and what a delight. Home cooked food served on real china plates, topped off with warm scones and jam. Worth the visit and looking forward to a return visit.

Eat a nice bread roll with tuna salad, when I made the remark that there was just a little bit of tuna salad on the roll, they immediately brought me a bowl with far enough tuna salad. Very nice place, lovey located and wonderful service. Though being with a group they didn't make a fuss about everyone paying separate. To top things off I tried a homemade scone as well. It was really great. Place to visit again.

What a lovely place to stop for a spot of tea and cake during a walk by the Levadas. We did the walk with little expectation of places being open during this difficult time but Nick was ready and waiting to serve us the most lovely banana cake and a lovely pot of tea. Full of local knowledge this was a fab place to stop for refreshment. The gardens were beautifully tended and I can’t recommend this place enough. Just take the 36 bus from Funchal, get onto the Levada and you will find the Jasmin tea house and not be disappointed. We were also delighted to meet the lovely dog Poppy!

This is always a favourite place for us to stop on one of our lavada walks. The reception is welcoming and we sit on the terrace in the shade looking out of the valley while among the loverly plants - there was the odd flowering Jasmin as we entered which smelt wonderful. We had tea - in China cups which we really appreciate and with a tea pot..... They way it should be done. Business is just picking up so the menu is a little shorter than previously but still lots to choose from. We had the cheese board which is excellent and also scones with jam. I mentioned that I will lookforward to the nachos being back on the menu and the owner said he had just bought some so was happy to make them for me which he did - they were excellent and a real treat! With the bill comes some home made fudge which was delicious as always. It was a very relaxing lunch. We then made our way to the bus stop at the bottom of the drive and back to funchal. It was lovely returning to such a unique and great tea house.

A great place to stop if you're walking the levada dos tornos, also handy from the ER201.
Over 30 types of tea, plus a selection of other drinks.
Light meals are available but we went for the cake, lemon drizzle, and scones, all made on the premises by the owner. Absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and at very reasonable prices.
Nick knows a lot about tea, served in a pot, using leaves rather than commercial tea bags, and about baking cakes.
You really should treat yourself to a visit.

This is our third visit and it’s always a complete oasis of calm. We do lots of the Levada walks but always aim to include one down the Dos Tornos so we can pop in and relax. The location is beautiful with a great view out over the coast and the tea and food are great, inexpensive and just right to get you going again.

This is a great spot for lunch for anyone doing the Levada dos Tornos walk. The tea house has a lovely sheltered terrace looking out onto a charming garden. There is an extensive tea menu, and a great choice of hot and cold lunch options - all homemade, delicious, and prepared with care and attention to detail. Portion sizes are generous - making it great value and ideal for hungry walkers! You must leave room for Nick's excellent homemade cakes and scones: we had the coffee and lemon drizzle cakes, which were heavenly and much-needed fuel for the rest of our walk!

Very British style tea rooms in a remote but lovely location in the hills above Funchal. Typical tea room menu with a Portuguese twist. The English owner works very hard to supply good food and service but could be stretched at busy times. We had a very nice experience and the premises were nearly half full. The Levarda is close by and probably most customers find it this way but we took a taxi up and the bus back from opposite the main drive with no issues. In early and late season it is definitely cooler than by the coast so take a jumper or fleece.

This pleasant tea house is a godsend when walking the Levada. When we reached it yesterday after walking from Monte we were so glad to be able to sit down with a couple of cold beers, relax & wait for the bus back. This is where it fell down a bit as the bus quoted in the owners handwritten timetable never showed which meant we & two other guests sat for over forty minutes at the bus stop in glaring sun. Perhaps we were unlucky or perhaps the owner needs to update his timetable.
That said, although we didn't eat, the food that came out looked good & all prices seemed good value.
The toilet was a bit basic. We also felt the owner was a little brusque.

Thank you for your review and firstly may I apologise if I came over as a little Brusque that was not my intention. I will certainly have s look at the bus timetable and check the times. I had written them from the information provided by the tourist board, however you have not mentioned the time you visited or the bus you were looking to catch, but I will check the times I have on display. Having said that I hope that we could welcome you back to try some of our snacks and cake's.
