Exceptionally friendly staff and good food

I love Kindli for traditional Swiss (and for some reason Austrian) food of excellent quality. The staff is exceptionally friendly, contributing to the nice atmosphere. Dogs are welcome too and even get a small "dish". The only negative point is the field salad with one egg and the standard French dressing for CHF 19. This seems to be normal nowadays in Zurich but feels "unnecessarily low value" for such a great restaurant.

High Standard Restaurant

We had something to celebrate and choose this restaurant, since it's one of Zurich's top addresses. The menu is small but excellent. We ordered starters, main dishes and a dessert to share and each course met our expectations. Special emphasis should be placed on the service, which was extraordinary. Only the wine was a little disappointing. We ordered each two different glasses of white and red wine and not a single one convinced us. Nonetheless, it was a lovely evening at Kindli restaurant.

Amazing culinary experience with superb service

While staying at the Hotel Kindli, the front desk recommended we step downstairs to Restaurant Kindli for lunch. I was hesitant at first, but that quickly went away when we stepped downstairs. Everything about Restaurant Kindli was amazing. It started with the attentive and helpful service. We just arrived from the airport and were looking for a lighter lunch than what was presented on the menu. The Server suggested a few alterations, combining smaller portions of a few items, which worked out perfect. The decor and ambiance were comfortable, classy, sophisticated, and yet still warm and inviting. Finally, the food was a real highlight. My friend enjoyed both of their dishes and said they were great. My mixed salad and pumpkin curry were AMAZING. I am not normally a fan of pumpkin, though this curry was incredibly flavorful and smooth. We also enjoyed breakfast each day of our stay. The service and food were impeccable each time. Simply a great experience and definitely a highlight of my Zurich visit!

A must visit fine dining experience

Unquestionabley one of the finest restaurants in Zurich. Set in a historic building (adjoining the hotel of the same name) the restaurant services authentic Swiss dishes that are cooked and presented superbly. Service was impeccable (thanks Abir) being attentive and unobtrusive at the same time. Booking is essential.

Never EVER Disappoints..

Returning to an old favourite is always potentially fraught, yes? However when over the years having happily returned here time & again, last week I found miraculously neither the absolutely splendid kitchen work NOR the friendly professionalism front of house had diminished in any way! My fine noodles with black truffles to start were as elegantly as ever ...but my go>to Zurich Veal & mushrooms with Roesti on the side an absolutely sublime classic yet again, perfectly achieved. The stunning tender veal pieces shimmering just rare enough in their cream sheath of a sauce ...it was breathtaking, classic Swiss cooking of the first order!. The table service here remains never too presumptuous, yet never leaving us wanting for anything because our needs were subtly anticipated. The friendly professionalism belies the regrettable all-too-often snooty wait-service found at top tables in this city. Bravo team Kindli! Most highly recommended!

We had a good dinner here. The white asparagus soup needed more flavor, too bland. The calf's liver & the Swiss beef were both delicious. Nice wine list, we drank a Swiss Merlot which was descent, a 2014.

Your “must” stop for Zurich food experience

We went to this restaurant with some friends, total of 7 people. Originally we book the terrasse, and after we saw it and we saw the weather forecast, we change the booking for inside. Everything during the booking and change was great, Alessandro helped us with all needs. The inside of the restaurant is nice, with enough place between tables and with big tables. The service is good, they do not want to sell , they want you to be happy and came back. We came with some ideas about what we want to eat, and after discussing with Alessandro , we ended by going with his proposals - very good choices. Food well prepared , tasty, working well with proposed Toscane white wine. Great night, we spent almost 3 hours in this restaurant. Definitely will came back.

Absolutely wonderful!

Returning to a old favorite years later is bittersweet sometimes…one’s memory can exaggerate excellence & mistake nostalgia for the maintenance of performance .. Not so with Kindli..front of house changes didn’t matter - the friendly professionalism rare in Switzerland was amazing…but happily it’s the solid maintenance of the famed & dazzling kitchen work that was so thrilling…it was just as wonderful..I could hardly believe it’s been so many years since dining here. My fine noodles with gorgeous summer truffles as my starter were a sheer delight & superbly achieved. But the house speciality of Zurich Veal + mushrooms with an elegant cream sauce..coupled with their most excellent roesti ( shredded & fried potatoes ) >> this dish was simply out of this world ! Highly recommended.

Wonderful food and great service

We were staying in the attached hotel. The first night we had asparagus soup and asparagus which were both delicious. The second time we had dinner there and had the asparagus soup and I had risotto and my husband had liver and rösti. Sergio was our waiter and he was personable and professional. In addition, he saw me being approached by a stranger when I was approaching the hotel and wondered, as I did, if someone was trying to cause trouble and he came up and stood by me to make sure that I was fine. That's outstanding service.

Historic location with class and excellent food

Great location, excellent service, classy, warm interior with perfect outdoor seating also for people watching. The veal shank was cooked perfectly, and the pikeperch / walleye was excellent. Topped off with a great bottle of Swiss red… the perfect lunch in Zürich.

Amazing Zürcher Geschnetzeltes

Kindli was highly recommended by a friend. I did not have a reservation and the place was packed - but the owners were really nice and got me a table. And it was worth it! I had the Zürcher Geschnetzeltes and it was really delicious. I love veal and the mushroom cream sauce and rosti potato were amazing. The rosti was crispy at the exact cooking point. I did not have desert even though the chocolate mousse looked really good. The price was fair. Would certainly entertain another visit to Kindli as there were many other things on the menu that I would like to try.

Absolutely outstanding on all accounts. The truffle risotto was to die for. We were recommended the veal (Zurich style) which was utterly delicious. Paired with a Pinot Noir from a local vineyard. Can’t wait to go back!

Charming, Good Food, Friends impressed by my choice

I chose this restaurant to honor 4 friends from Zurich. It was the first time for them and for me, not being from Zurich. I chose this restaurants by intuition, I read no reviews. All 5 of us agreed it was a good choice. Everyone enjoyed their food, wine and ambiance. Our waiter was attentive in a fully booked restaurant. He was impecable. Surprising to be in a fully-book restaurant and the noise level of conversation or otherwise was very respectable.

Still amazing

I went to Kindli around 5 years ago and it stood out to me as one of the best dinners of our trip. On our return back to Zurich this February, we went again and it’s still just as amazing as it was then. We ordered the tuna & avo and beef carpaccio for starters. Both were so fresh and tasty. For the main I had the steak with truffle noddles which was cooked perfectly! And dessert we shared the chocolate fondant which we thoroughly enjoyed! The service was great. The atmosphere is lovely and cosy. We would definitely return again and recommend to anyone in Zurich.
