Wonderful - must visit

A fantastic restaurant in every way. Lovely location with stunning views across the canal. If you can, try to sit outside on the terrace. Food and drinks are wonderful - we both had the traditional veal dish recommended by our waiter and it was delicious. I asked for a wine recommendation and the waiter suggested a local wine that was perfect for the dish. Bonus points to him for suggesting one that wasn’t the most expensive on the menu! This is a must-visit for anyone who loves good food and wine, and great service. By far the best restaurant we’ve tried in Zurich!

Gala dinner for company event

We organized here a dinner for a company event: everybody loved the atmophere, the food and the service. As organizer, I was more than happy with the support of the staff: very kind, patient, always smiling, they accomodated all our requests. The food was amaing. Our international guests were extremely impressed by the place. Totally recommended!

Reopening with amazing food and team

We have visited this place just after the reopening in August 2020. The food was incredible and the atmosphere in this old guild house is unique in Zurich. The service was excellent and drinks in the bar downstairs is a must for every visitor to Zurich! The own Gin was very tasty and a bottle to take home can be bought right there. We can only recommend this restaurant for every type of occasion.

Lovely Experience

I had 2 dinners at the Rueden during my recent trip to Zurich. The first dinner was outdoors, very nice location overlooking the Limmat River and you get to do some people watching as well. The second dinner was indoors in a beautiful wood paneled gothic dining room. Both dinners were excellent. The menu is well balanced, there are some local Zurich dishes as well as modern international cuisine. The service was relaxed, yet very attentive. The prices are very reasonable by Zurich standards. I highly recommend it and will return

Great food and ambiance in the heart of Zurich

It has been many years since I had dinner here among business associates so I was interested in how it was doing these days for a weekday lunch. I am happy to report that it is still doing fine. The atmosphere is old Zurich with the barrel roof in the main dining room. The service was prompt and impeccable. I highly recommend it.

Excellent food, views and kid friendly atmosphere

We were looking last minute for a reservation in old town area of Zurich as our prior restaurant had cancelled on us due to summer holidays. Haus Zum Ruden was able to give us not only a reservation for four but a perfect table with a view of the river and set up for our kids so they had some shade. The attention to our kids needs was the best we have had in Switzerland on our trip so far. Their approach is to make a kids version of anything on the adult menu for reasonable prices. Or make regular kids options like pasta. Both our boys loved their meals. So did we. Our server was also knowledgeable about the history of the area and the restaurant and local foods. He spent time explaining all of it to us. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Go there, sit outside and enjoy. We had the local Zurich veal and rosti dish and desserts. Try it all.

New Crew, New Team still perfect

I was surprised when it was announced that the crew has changed and so I went there to see how it will be. And it was great again. We have choosen the tasting menu accompaned with wine. Every single dish was just perfect, really tasty on a high level. Also the wine for the price was good (42 CHF for 7 Glass wine). One very small point, for me the dishes have been a bit to big ;-) I felt a bit full after all the dishes but hey they have been so good I had to eat all :-))

Excellent venue for a special occasion / Ein ausgezeichneter Ort für eine besondere Feier

I booked the Ruedenstuebli for my husband's 60th birthday and the whole occasion couldn't have been better. For a start, the room is beautiful - 18th century traditional (inside a much older building). We had 20 people and although the restaurant offered to do flowers, we did our own, which worked well, but they printed up personalised menu cards for us. We arranged drinks and apero plates beforehand and then had a delicious 3 course meal with coffee afterwards. All our guests commented on what a fantastic evening it was, and how both the food and the service was perfect (just two people looking after us in a very understated and efficient way). I would highly recommend this venue for special occasions. The quality of communications before the event and the menu and wine choice (I prearranged everything re. food and drink) was excellent. Highly recommended.

Best Beef Tartar in Town

This is a wonderfully located (by the river) restaurant, in central Zurich. I've tried beef tartar in numerous places around Zurich, including at the Widder Garden restaurant, but the tastiest beef tartar (order the sharf/spicy one) was definitely at Haus Zum Rueden! With little pickled onions and capers, the balance of it was perfect. Also, highly recommended - their seasonal salad! This one is definitely not a tourist trap, very good food and would recommend a visit.

Peak Asparagus

I came in alone without a reservation. They took lovely care of me. It’s upstairs in a Zunfthaus, a guild hall-type dining room, though I’m not sure it was itself an actual guild rather than a dining and drinking hall for guild-member medieval oligarchic power-brokers. In any event, it offered the best white asparagus of any place I’ve had it these two weeks in Switzerland, where it is, as all over Europe, magnificently in season. The veal au jus was not outstanding, nor was the Swiss wine, but the asparagus was fabulous, carefully chosen and steamed just right. (I had them keep the hollandaise on the side; it was good hollandaise with the bread, but theirs was really the best asparagus of the harvest so far, and it needed nothing added.)

Not the quality you would expect for the price you pay.

I did not realise this was a Michelin Guide restaurant. Even less so from the quality of food unfortunately,untill today, when I thought to write this review. We were a family of four. My son and I had veal escallop with ruccola salad. It was extreemly salty and we had to turn it back. It was imediately replaced with a new one. Salate was a bit better( still more salty than normal though) but the meat was cold this time. Definitely not the quality you would expect from such a restaurant and price. The three stars are only for the service.

Best Place for Business Lunch in Zurich

Best place for business lunch during the week in central Zurich. Great to take clients out, especially when you can sit outside (the restaurant on the 1st floor is also incredibly nice). Top place.

One best avoided

One to avoid. So poor food over priced. No service! They accepted our booking for lunch but was pretty clear they did not want to serve us food. One of those poor service Swiss experiences that just want others not to have to suffer!

Lots of places to choose from in Zurich. Not sure how this one was rated so high....

NIce location. Lovely room. Hostess somewhat disingenuous. Placed us in a corner, perhaps the worst table in the room. When we asked for a different table, she said the room was fully booked. We were very early, but stayed for several hours and only one other group came in during our entire time there. We were charged 11 Euros for water, even though we asked for tap water. My lamb was rare even though I asked for medium. My partners veal was on a rare side but delicious. He gobbled it all up. House wine was okay, nothing special. Salad was overdressed. Veggies were nicely done.

Nice location, food good

We dined on the first floor in a spacious wooden vaulted room. Service attentive and good. I had foie gras, Züri geschneltes and lemon meringue pie, all tasted fine. The rest of the party enjoyed their food too. We had a window table with a view of the river and the Storchen, another fine restaurant
