It's a great place. But maybe not for everyone...
It's a single menu, so you need to be able to eat more or less everything. Of course you can have things removed, adapted, meatless, etc, but it's never going to be as good as the original intend. So it you're complicated with food, maybe this is not for you; if you're not, then you can expect a great meal in an inventive italian style.
Then the atmosphere: the owner is very lively, chatty, funny, interacts a lot with the customers (Italian style I guess). If you like that, then again, great place. If you want a quiet place where you're left in peace, maybe this is not for you.
I have fun with the staff and the owner, and I think the food is great. So I liked it a lot, and I'll definitely go again.

Fabolous Italian Cuisine in Lucerne. This restaurant has a beautiful terrace by the river, close to the downtown. The chef Bruno selects always fresh and delicious ingredients like local beef and cooks them with art. The menu has four corses and is always stunning. No compromises to excellence!

As in my previous visits, I have not been disappointed with Geissmatt. The food was excellent (the beef was perfect: very tender, grilled on the outside, red and juicy inside), all dishes really tasty.
As usual, the owner is a bit of a showman, and we had a lot of fun with him.
Also, I found the price/quality ratio to be particularly good.

An unforgettable evening. First, fine white wine from the region is served as an aperitif on the terrace directly on the Reuss, with the finest crissini and raw ham. The evening menu was top class, from the cozze in coconut curry sauce to the orechiette in broccoli sauce, the tender, pink-roasted and finely sliced lamb chops to the mascarpone dessert with berries. The vegetarian menu with couscous, potatoes, risotto, carrot mousse and leaf spinach was also excellent. And the recommended Bianco di Ludovico from Sicily rounded off the meal perfectly. The tenant family's very attentive service and friendly visits to the table make you feel like you are dining in your own home. Late in the evening, we left the restaurant feeling like we had spent several days like God in France or in Sicily. A thousand thanks for the hospitality.

Even if the boss was missing and Koch only joined the team a few months ago, we spent a successful evening at Geissmättli. The finely cooked and well portioned 3-course menu with marinated salmon carpaccio in the style of the house, fettuccine al ragu, breaded veal steak on rocket salad with fried potatoes and finally trifle with mango and passion fruit has us very much mouthed. Accompanied by a beautiful wine recommendation from Mary, this was another successful evening with lived hospitality.

This intimate Italian restaurant is tucked along side a river draining from Lake Lucerne. We visited in June and sat on the outdoor patio. A fixed menu, which changes over time. was served. Everything from start to finish was delicious. Special thanks to Bruno and the staff for there exceptional hospitality. We quite enjoyed the visit and highly recommend.

The Geissmatt restaurant is located a bit away from the centre of Lucerne, near the Nölli Tower. The restaurant entrance in St. Karli-Strasse is hardly visible. But once you stand in the entree, you quickly feel: Now you are in another world.
First of all, there is the cosy atmosphere with great attention to detail: Nice colored bottles here, old coffee grinders there, pretty lantern flowers on the buffet, next to it a wine-red cold cuts machine. Italianita and atmosphere at its best.
Then the host couple Mary and Bruno, who – supported by Luana – care for you in every way and are concerned for the well-being of their customers. There is also always time for a chat, a chat – or a wine consultation from the landlord.
Last but not least, to the culinary: We started with a wonderful Asian greeting of zucchetti, diced radish, sliced Chinese cabbage and Asian sauce.
Then a fabulously aromatic carpaccio of Swiss salmon, ultrafine and wonderfully spiced, with a warm butter-vinegar cloud. Just a poem.
We continued with orecchiette with pak choi and with pumpkin pieces – a fabulous combination.
To the main course then a tagliata of a wonderful entrecôtes, with a mixture of savoury tomatoes and rocket, accompanied by a juicy creamy porcini risotto.
And then finally the dessert: A taste explosion. When I heard something about yogurt, my expectations were low. But I haven't eaten such a brilliant sweet that wasn't that sweet in a long time. The yogurt was infinitely light and I had more of an impression of ultra-light whipped cream with a fabulous aroma of Amalfi lemons. Among them wonderful blueberries, doused with a thickened juice somewhat reminiscent of honey and fried pumpkin seeds.
If you like large cuisine and an atmospheric ambience, the «Geissmatt» is the right place. In any case, we like to say «Ciao a tutti, Belli et Brutti»: We will definitely be back soon.

We had a wonderful evening at Geissmättli! The menu was awesome. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. When dessert came and one of us refused, the owner's reaction was so rude and alienating ............we all lacked words.

We were finally able to visit the rightly praised Geissmatt. We had made a reservation at short notice and were lucky - we got the last few places.
Hosts Bruno and Mary welcomed us warmly and courteously and spoiled us with their team (service and kitchen)! The food - including an aperitif on the sunny terrace by the Reuss - was excellent. We'd love to come back!

The food was amazing, interesting, and beautiful. The service was friendly and prompt, engaging but not intrusive. It feels like the highest end neighborhood place imaginable. And Bruno and the staff go above and beyond for their guests in extremely thoughtful ways!

Our first dining out experience post lockdown...
A lovely restaurant in Luzern with Italian influence. We sat outside on the balcony/terrace next to river.
Menu was fixed 4 course.
Service was excellent.
buon appetito!!

Go as a couple or foursome, sit outside on the water for drinks. Wonderful.
Food was great. A salmon starter was to die for. Main course pretty good. Decent desert. Good service. Lively patron. Fixed price menu.
We were invited for a 60th - on reflection, just not such a good set-up - large groups at long tables not good for circulation.

What a hidden pearl in the old town of Lucerne. The restaurant is family run which makes it even more personal. The menu was determined by the master of the house and was coordinated with the wine menu.
