Six of us had lunch under the umbrellas at this lovely restaurant in a small side street in Verona. The owner was friendly and helpful in explaining the menu, including all the daily specials. We all enjoyed lunch here and would not hesitate to return
I had a beautiful and delicious “frutas do bosque” risotto. Fair price to the nice plate offered. My experience was very positive and i recommend to anyone passing through Verona.
Walking around a crowded Verona at lunchtime, most osterias and trattorias were full. Finally, we found this and it was a treat. Good food, good wine and service was quick – we were hungry and lucky.
We ate at Macafame during our recent stay in Verona and had a wonderful meal there. The staff were helpful and warm and the food was delicious. We ordered many dishes here, as we were interested in much of what this cozy eatery had on...offer, and were impressed with the creativity and execution of the dishes. If we had stayed another day, we would have returned. We were surprised to see Horse on the menu, which we stayed well clear of, Italians eat all sorts of lovely creatures that Americans find hard to imagine eating but that's a different discussion... I do wonder when Italy will come to see the benefits of a vegetarian or mainly pescatarian diet. That all said, this is a a wonderful little eatery and well worth a try in Verona.More
Our good fortune to visit Verona with Marisa and Arnoldo, Marisa being a fashion angel with business connections in Verona. So that brings us to Macafame. One of the best, if not THE best risottos with Amarone in Verona, so Marisa's associate said. The dish...lived up to its reputation. The only sound at our table for ten minutes was the whispering traffic of forks scooping velvety risotto. We followed with beef cheeks, the guancialino, done to perfection. By the glass, very reasonably priced, a hearty Amarone. Highly recommend this restaurant. Relaxing ambiance, excellent service, and . . . RISOTTO. This was a perfect lunch.More
The food is ok, not great. Tried the tagliatelle, horse and cold pickled vegetables "jardineira". One dimension dishes. The space is nice. The service is good.
The historic center is usually full of overpriced restaurants with mediocre food. But this is an exception! Great food, great beer, nice and professional staff. Thank you!
The restaurant has great food, with daily options depending on the season.Service was great, the waiter spoke great English. Its in a nice alley not far from the city centre. You should try it at least once if you stay in Verona. The cod cooked in milk was...a highlightMore
We came across this small friendly restaurant in the heart of Verona whilst looking for somewhere for lunch and are SO glad we did. The prices were very reasonable (10-16 euros for most dishes), the staff really helpful and the food was some of the...best we’ve eaten in Italy. All freshly made and not obviously trying to cater for the tourist market. The beef tagliata and the spaghetti with fresh tuna were delicious. We’d come back to Verona just to eat here!More
Really recommend this place! We ordered from the special menu and both starters and main course were super tasty. Good prices and attentive service!
The best restaurant i’ve eaten in all italy! Truly amazing and the staff is very nice! I will definitely be coming back!!! Super recommended!
In small peacefull alley, beautifull italian restaurant. Traditional meals with a nice original touch. Must have "tres veroneses", three sorts of fish. Great food and ambience, nice wine selection.
Great location just off Pizza dei signori. Shared a very tasty risotto for two, and a plentiful "small" plate of cold cuts. Service was fast and friendly. Large, clean bathroom
This was our final dinner of this visit to Verona. The whimsical yet interesting attitude of this casual little place is summarized in their small outside sign: “We are against War and Tourist Menu.” This means the dishes are pure and traditional Veronese, and while...the menu itself offers no English translations, the owner is quite friendly and ready to help you, if needed, work through some of the less familiar dish descriptions. We had a very good dinner of skillfully and imaginatively prepared versions of traditional dishes, including a simple but elegant plate of anchovies with smoked burrata (which was super delicious), some wonderful tagliatelle with a ragu of rabbit and duck, and perfectly cooked beef tagliata, all of which paired well with a bottle of 2017 Albino Armani Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. The owner brought us some local grappa to end the meal. This was a very enjoyable meal, and we would return.More
