We were very happy to discover this little sandwich bar although I’m sure it is hyped by this site, but then again it is quite impossible to vote anything else but “Very Good” or “Excellent” concerning this place ! Little simple crispy sandwiches with local...More

Don't understand Why this hole-in-the-wall was rated numero uno. It's not very well located unless you're staying in the Santa Croce area. It's a teeny tiny place that serves house wines and sandwiches with cold cuts (porchetta, mortadella, salami, cheese, ...). The bread is crunchy...More

In the afternoons there are literally hundreds of young people crowded around this little hole in the wall in the square. Cheap drinks, delicious chicetti, we stopped here most mornings for a speck roll. It is busy all day. Standing only. A classic Venetian experience.

This place is not a restaurant but a wonderful little snack bar with a delightful setting. Delicious snacks with a selection of wines/prosecco at a veryaffordable price. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.

This bar doesn't deserve rank 1 in trip advsior, thats why i give this lowest score. I wanted to give my wife a big first impression of Venice and found this restaurant on rank 1 in trip advisor. And when we found the "restaurant" we...More

Went here after reading other TripAdvisor reviews - this was actually our first stop straight after getting off the bus in P. Roma. Did not disappoint - the muscat's gorgeous, the little sandwiches very tasty and the atmosphere makes you think of a student place...More

As the previous reviewer said...a tiny place.. Wine from 60 cents a glass,Prosecco was 90 cents or a Spritz..a Euro. As this place was literally around the corner from where I was staying I visited a few times. The speck/cheese/salami rolls at lunch time were...More

As has been written before - this is not a sit-down restaurant. There are maybe 6 square meters where one can stand. So most of the patrons are standing outside. Even if your hotel is not close by, when you leave Venice by bus, it...More

This is literally a corner plot that is absolutely tiny - so squeeze in, place your drinks order, pay for them and them take them outside! We loved the experience, mixing with the locals in the little square and standing at the canal side partaking...More

Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district)
when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring
cars and buses close to the center of Venice.
Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking
Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes
with energy from travelers and students. Historic
palaces and former industrial buildings house some
departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture

I don't recall any fish. As far as vegetarian, you could get cheese and tomato on your sandwich. The counter guys were very nice and helpful.
