This is a fine restaurant! What a joy to eat the good Venetian food. The antipasti were good. The main dish (smoked sea bass) was delicious and the desserts were original and tastefull. Especially, the Sgropino was a surprise. The waiter had a good sense...of humor. Only remark: for a guy of 6”8 the portions were not too big.More

This is from our family trip in July 2019. On our second-to-last night in Venice, my wife and I had a date night that included a wonderful meal at Taverna Scalinetto. Just off the Grand Canal and all the craziness that goes with it, there...is a cute, little place that is perfect to catch your breath while enjoying each other’s company. After starting with a glass of Prosecco, my wife went with the beetroot gnocchi (clean plate club) and I played it safe with a steak dish that all you needed was a butter knife to cut. Perfect! To cap it off, we enjoyed their amazing tiramisu (highly recommend) and espresso! If you are looking for a great dinner without breaking your bank, this is the place. Delizioso!!More

Very nice local food in Castello close to San Marco. I certainly recommend their local food and the nice wine list. We visited the restaurant two nights during our stay in venice. Please try their “Bis di baccalà mantecato e sarde in “saor” su polentina...morbida” - very nice combination. Or the very nice “Capesante scottate su cipolla caramellata e crema di zucca”. Also the fritto misto is nice. The food is indeed “value for the money” compared to other restaurants in Venice. Furthermore the wines are very fair priced. Enjoy 😊More

The restaurant is small so reservations are really recommended. The food and quality of the wine was incredible as was the service even though it was attended by only two service persons. The restaurant is off the beaten path and really incredible! One thing, although...we had made a prior intenet booking which we had received a conformation for, when we got there they of course could not find it. Thanks to my wife she had a copy of the reservation confirmation with her. Word to the wise!More

I know there are so many cosy and quaint little restaurants around Venice but apart from this ticking those boxes I loved their menu. Also, off centre so makes a change. Everything sounded just mouthwatering. A great selection of fish and meat dishes caught my...eye. They all sounded tasty. I got a nice welcome and you could sit in or in the small covered courtyard. It was nice outside so opted for that. I think one minor thing is the toilet is in the courtyard too and although it has a completely separated wash room I think I would sit in next time. Some seating is away from it but some are not. Good service though and pleasant atmosphere. Very well presented plate. Lovely succulent melt in the mouth chicken. Fabulous. Opted for a couple of sides too. Small to these guys seems medium to me but as I had not had any breakfast and been on a big walk was happy to get through the salad and superb curly skinned fries. I know it sounded like chicken and chips but I promise you it is so much more. My selection maybe boring but their menu has some far more elaborate ideas to tempt you. Recommended if you are wandering into this area.More

We found this by accident and it was already busy. The service was warm, friendly and welcoming, very attentive but not too much. The food was superb. Fabulous pasta, my black ravioli had lovely delicate flavour, the seafood spaghetti had a wonderful rich sauce. Fried...calamari and prawns was superb, light delicate batter - wonderful sweet prawns. All in all a superb meal, would highly recommend, but maybe book if you want to be sure of a table.More

This restaurant is really the best restaurant in Venice in terms of value for money: the dishes are large (more than the average of other restaurants) and the prices are lower than the average of Venice. The location is also excellent: along Riva degli Schiavoni,...close to Piazza San Marco (10 min by walk). This is a perfect place for eating typical, and it is not easy to find a really good restaurant here. Recommended for everyone!!!More

Food ok but not best in town. Service not very nice and make non-italian speaking visitors feeling a bit unwelcome.

I found the Taverna Scalinetto by chance looking for "the best lunch places around me". My wife and I decided to book for dinner instead and what a dinner it was! We sat in the cozy inner garden and especially enjoyed the fish prepared to...perfection and the Venetian specialty "Sarde in Saor". A special mention for the competent and nice staff!More
