We found the restaurant by chance, due to its excellent location. Always friendly staff and very good quality of food invited us to choose the place for a second lunch the next day too. We chose an appetizer with cooked ham, raw ham and cheeses and some side chips, which I recommend because they were delicious! As a second course we shared a plum dumpling, different from the classic dumpling, rightly different from region to region; served here are 3 large gnocchi with plums inside (good).

We went to dinner. Very long wait even though there weren't many people. Decent dishes but nothing exceptional (ravioli and Friulian dish with polenta and sausage) and prices not low (compared to other restaurants in the area). The dessert also disappointed us a bit (fruit cake with cream). Convenient distance from hostel and museum, friendly staff, homely atmosphere.

Table of 12 people, who chose different types of dishes ranging from typical Friulian, to sandwiches and pizzas! Everyone satisfied and served at the same time! Friendly and attentive staff, the Aquila Nera was truly a welcome discovery! More than satisfactory value for money! We hope to return soon! Congratulations to the staff: all young and smart!

We had dinner at the Black Eagle as booked the room. Great quality food, from linguine to clams, fried and one of their specialties is frico, to try. A great review is also to do on the cozy, modern and well cleaned rooms. Also good for breakfast. The staff was very friendly. The location with respect to the historic center is good in fact with a walk of a few minutes you are at the archaeological museum and with a few minutes more to the Basilica.

I had identified this typical restaurant for lunch during my trip to Aquileia. Out of caution, I had checked that it was not closed, but there was no indication on the website (closing day?). I thought that since it is also a hotel, it was normal that the restaurant was always open. Instead, once I got there, I found the restaurant closed, and after knocking, a boy showed up and told me that Thursdays are closed. BUT WHERE IS IT WRITTEN??? While I was looking around disappointedly, I noticed a sign on the door, where it was written: "Opening at 7.30am, closing at 10.30pm, closing day: NOT PROVIDED".

Sunday lunch with cousins. Simple but welcoming location. Great service, attentive and thoughtful, not easy with 4 small children. Good, good sized dishes. They deserve the frico and the cjarsons. Also baked radicchio with lard. The only flaw, if possible, is the prices a little higher than usual. For its proximity to the basilica and the availability of parking, as well as for the cuisine and service, I recommend it.

I was rebooked from the Hotel Patriachi to the Aquila Nera. Both hotels are owned by the same family and they close each one for a month during the slower winter months of January and February. The Hotel sits on a small square beside a canal. The grocery store is right across from the Hotel. I came by train and the bus service is infrequent. Upon calling the Hotel to help me get a taxi the manager (son of the owner) said "I'll be there in 10 minutes." He also gave me a ride back to the train station. My light-filled room looked onto the square. Breakfast was in the Hotel dining room. They brought a delicious pizza up to my room the first night. The second night I had the Friuli dinner, and later learned that the scrumptious salami and sausages were made by the father. I was fascinated by the finishing touch for some of the take out pizza orders: they scattered potato chips on top of the pizza before closing the boxes. I've never seen, or heard of that, and intend to try it sometime!

It is also a hotel (TripAdvisor has it as a restaurant). We stayed here on an Exodus self-guided cycle trip so was expecting something average but I have to say this is a great little hotel Our room (and bathroom) were of good size, windows opened out onto the piazza and there was place to stow our bicycles. Aquileia is a really historic town, well worth a visit.

Had lunch there today before visiting archaeological museum up the road. Choices are classics with nothing spectacular but done very well. Had the spaghetti pomodoro which was delicious, my girlfriend enjoyed her pizza margherita. Cheese very good on it. The local wine was excellent, but could have been cooler. Service efficient and friendly. Price very cheap, so great value.

We were having a busy day sightseeing in Aquileia and decided to locate the Archeological Museum and eat nearby. This restaurant is at the end of the side street that the museum is on. It seemed to be the kind of place where local people eat. We sat in the dining room for our lunch. There is also a bar area and outdoor seating. We ordered a salad, Friulian meats with polenta and frico, penne with San Daniele ham, and gnocchi with venison ragu and washed it all down with Gosser beers. The penne was really good but very filling, kind of like creamy macaroni and cheese with ham. The meats were less successful being over cooked but the polenta and frico were yummy. Husband enjoyed his gnocchi. The staff was not overfriendly but were efficient enough.

The restaurant is a clean with a pretty big menu. We also stayed at this hotel so we ate here several times. The pasta was amazing and my husband enjoyed the pizza. Both were very flavor full and we didn't have to wait long to be served. Loved every beer and wine that we received from the bar. We also ate breakfast here every morning. The croissants were AMAZING and warm. It was set up like a buffet from yogurt, to meats, fruit and bread. Definitely a great place to eat.

very local bar at the front, great for people watching, as the locals called in for their nightly beverage. Very good pasta, the chef made one especially for us, which was superb. Good selection of local wines and all reasonably priced
