Food here was great and very creative, if you’re looking for traditional Italian food with a slight twist this is the place to go. The food is delicious and so was the Sangria. This would have easily been a 5 star if the service wasn’t so slow, there were only a few tables when we arrived but we got severed after a family of 6 who arrived an hour after us. That was a little disappointing but the food made up for it. Still worth a visit if you’re looking for something a little different.

We found this by luck - just a few side streets north of Piazza Navona. Very very friendly staff each with a great command of English. We paid a very reasonable €37 for two mains, one starter and a half litre of house red. Lovely setting in backstreets of Rome.

My partner and I have had dinner at Old Bear in Cobham and we have the most wonderful service, provided by Charlie. It made out evening very special. The food was amazing, too! Charlie was very knowledgeable on the chef’s techniques of preparing meals. It was a delight to be here!

This was my second visit. I was there about 18 months before. Very nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. The truffle bruschetta and the ravioli were both okay but unimpressive. The eggplant parmigiana and the spicy mussels were both excellent. Those four dishes, two glasses of red wine and a bottle of sparkling water were under 49 euros!! We will go back next time in Rome.

I came to this restaurant once almost a decade ago and enjoyed it so much that I had to return when visiting Rome again. It was just as good as I remembered. Awesome crostini, spectacular pumpkin lasagne, and delicious desserts. I was surprised when we got the bill, but in the opposite of the way when traveling the rest of Italy. Very reasonably priced. Two carafes of wine, appetizers, two desserts, and meals for 4 at about 110 euro. Happy customers. I will return again next time I come to Rome. In a sea of standard Italian fare, this is a delightful departure from the ordinary.

We had reservations at several “must go” restaurants but Old Bear had the best food and provided the best dining experience. We ate here three times during our stay in Rome because the food was that good. We did have reservations for two of those nights. If you go early, you may be able to get a table but will be told there was a time limit. We sat outside each time. The street was busy with people but vehicle traffic is light. The owner Gabrielle was so nice and welcoming. His mother makes incredible desserts. I doubt you would be disappointed with any menu items but we had the truffle lasagna and the ravioli. If you like raw mushrooms, order the shaved mushroom salad. The Sangria is perfect without being too sweet.

Delicious food and reasonably priced too. I had a steak which was very nice, my husband had the pumpkin and speck lasagne and it was so tasty. The kids had the gnocchi which they both thoroughly enjoyed. We didn’t try starters or desserts but the menu was varied with a good selection. The restaurant was directly opposite our apartment and is located in a quiet side street close to Piazza Navona. Staff were very friendly and suitably attentive. One of the best meals we’ve had in Rome. I would definitely visit again

The Old Bear was a pleasant discovery in the Roman gastronomic panorama. An elegant but without excess environment, where the menu balances traditional proposals and an innovative touch, always with an eye on the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The service, attentive and never intrusive, enriched our evening, guiding us through flavors and wines with competence and friendliness. Honest prices, especially considering the high quality of the offer. An experience to repeat and recommend.

We had a party of 21 . Adults and kids. We called Old Bear at 4pm and they were able to take us at 6. When we arrived, we were greeted and told it would only be a couple of minutes. We were seated within 5 minutes. We sat and ordered 2 bottles of wine and a couple of beers. Drinks were brought out in a timely manner. We ordered several appetizers and they were all brought out together. When we ordered our main course, several in our group ordered the Truffle lasagna, and I have to say it was absolutely divine. The rest of the food was delicious also, but that truffle lasagna was the best. The overall experience was great. Food and service alike. This was my second visit, and I talked Old Bear up, and they did not disappoint.

We ordered the lasagna with truffles and it really was incredible, with a lot of flavor and we didn't even need to add grated cheese. The only problem was the service, they were super friendly but they mixed up our dishes twice and therefore we had to wait almost an hour for them to be brought to us. Other than that, it was totally worth the wait. I would come back again.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a Delta flight attendant, she travels to Rome twice a month and spends 36 hrs each time. We called that afternoon and got a 7:30 reservation and said yes when they asked if we wanted to be seated outside. Everyone that walked up after us were turned away without a reservation. The lasagna with truffle crème sauce was excellent, one of the best dishes of a 9 day trip. The large gnocchi were really good also. Service was good, prices reasonable. If and when I go back to Rome we will dine there again.

We had a great dinner here after a long hike through Rome's back streets. We were actually brought here by a random Google search for 'fresh strawberries'. Turns out they have them! All courses were tasty, I'll happily visit again, and service was really good.

We had eaten a few times at the Old Bear before the pandemic and liked it a lot so we were pleased to see that it was still open. We dined here 3 times during July Perhaps the best item on the menu are the semolina gnocchi - each gnocco is like an airy pillow of goodness, served in an awesome sauce. The restaurant also serves an eggplant parmigiana that eats like a stew. Just delicious. The menu lists several beef dishes - I had the steak (cooked to perfection) and the beef goulash (just outstanding). There is a nice selection of starters, including a good selection of bruschette and a top-notch beef carpaccio. There are several selections of tap beer, always cold and the house wine is very good; the restaurant also makes very good cocktails and spritzes. The desserts are all homemade– I found the cheesecake and the semifreddo to be delicious. This is a busy restaurant but the staff was always very helpful and professional. The prices are very reasonable. Give it a try – you will not be disappointed.

Great food in a very cosy setting! Popped by early on a Friday night to check availability for later and was warmly greeted by the staff. When I returned they remembered me and seated me very promptly upstairs. Food was delicious, I had the spaghetti with pork cheek and a small bottle of Prosecco (which equates to about two glasses). I would definitely recommend this place as it’s off the tourist trail and delivers on the food! 5*

We went for dinner at the old bear. We ordered one aperol spritz, one Negroni and bruschetta as starters and the Roman gnocchi of semolina with Gorgonzola sauce and the baked homemade ravioli as main dishes, paired with some red wine, and a tiramisu as dessert. Very reasonable price. Everything was good, best place we ate in our time in rome. The hostess was very welcoming even though we did not have reservations.
