Good place for traditional catalan cuisine in the center of the Barceloneta. It's renewed and I guess it has lot part of its DNA but it has been nicely decorated. It's big and with a noce terrace in front of the market of la Barceloneta. Food was very good, the artichokes and the rice were really tasty! Price is average.

Not the most salubrious of areas, but luckily we turned up at 12.30(lunch) and must have got the last table, the food is loaded with garlic and I dread to think how much salt, but you only live once and if your time is up - what a way to go..., rioja served in carafes if you don't fancy a... More

Thank you very much for your review and visit. For your peace of mind, the meals are not excessive in salt, rather the opposite, although they are potent in flavor. We hope this reassures you in some way !!. Thanks again More

We were not allowed to go to our tables before reservation time though the room was almost empty. The food was delicious and fresh. The service was OK but we were almost kicked out after 2 hours with a company of 12 people. Finally we managed to stay longer. All in all we had a nice time.

Good Morning. We would firstly like to thank you for visiting our restaurant. As you indicate, it is true that before entering the room, we suggest you take something in our reception area, since you were a large group and had not yet all met. They arrived a little before the time of the restera and we were preparing the... More

We had late lunch and ordered paella which is suppose to be a good stuff here. The paella was salty and very poor with the amount of fish and chicken. Other dishes we ordered were Ok, nothing outstanding. Try somewhere else in the area and you'll be better.

Management response:

We are sorry that the paella was not to your liking. It is one of our specialties, we do it 60 years ago in a traditional way, being one of our most successful dishes. We hope that if you come back, give us another chance. More

We went here for the lunchtime menu. The monkfish soup with fish balls starter was outstanding. The cap i pota with mussels was similarly excellent. The classic mel i mató pudding was also delicious. The 3 courses with included bread and wine were great value for €18 and the service was brilliant.

We found this restaurant by accident (having failed miserably to find the one recommended by the hotel). It was early so there were few people which may account for the quick service. Food was lovely and just what we required having spent the whole day travelling. Garlic prawns, garlic bread, mussels, patas bravas all lovely as was the wine.

It took me a while to know this establishment was here, even though I am now living in the area. The food is tasty, well-presented, and fresh (the mercado is a few meters away). Afridi has exceptional social skills, which make my company and me feel we are well taken care of. There is an outside dining area, which is... More

One says that it is the first house that was constructed in the district of the Barceloneta; their walls later gave shelter to a bar of wines and to a tavern of fishermen. Until in 1956 Ramona and Ramonet they initiate a project that, without them to intuit it, would register the gastronomy of the marine district.
Can Ramonet is a restaurant that watches the past but the present lives, and is that tradition and modernity are not fought. It offers an amiable space devised by the interiorista Lazaro Rosa Violan to facilitate a gastronomical experience reviewed by chef Jordi Herrera, of the Manairo restaurant.
Faithful to the line of Catalan traditional kitchen emphasizing rice and fish, Can Ramonet serves so much in his interior as in his terrace black, caldosos rice and paellas of the house, vermicelli, zarzuelas of seafood or sea breams, meats selections or a well-taken care of selection of covers and classic subjects of gossip and author.
“… and thus it will follow because a place that lasts three centuries has eagerness of being eternal.”

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
