I have been here twice for brunch now and both times I was left very satisfied and happy with the food. I’ve had the breakfast bap, chicken burger and pancakes which are all great! I will definitely come here again for brunch. I would get...the breakfast bap and pancakes again as they were delicious! The chicken burger was good but I don’t think I would get it again. Service was grand. Both times were quite in the day, probably because it’s more of a bar, and is a big place, but it means you can get a comfy couch or booth.More

We selected this restaurant by viewing their menu on the window, as it was early yesterday morning. Everything looked very interesting based on the appetizer, mains, dessert, etc. listings. There must be a reason this restaurant is rated 471 when, in retrospect, we looked at...the reviews. Our reservation was at 4pm, as reservations are encouraged. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated. The noise level, however, was totally unacceptable for a restaurant with a preferred dress code of smart casual. We both ordered the peach and elderflower iced tea, as we do not drink alcohol. They were very refreshing and the cost of EU 1 5 very reasonable. The appetizer chosen was organic Galway Bay Smoked Salmon with soda bread for EU 15.95 which was very good. The crab & dill cream sauce on the side for EU 3.50 was also an excellent accompaniment for the very thinly sliced salmon. We should have stopped there. My wife ordered the Ivy shepherd's pie for EU 24.95 which was about 4" in diameter. it consisted of mashed potato filling with a lightly toasted top, circled by a ground beef/lamb mixture about 1" high x 3/4" width. Very over-priced. Never experienced shepherd's pie such as this in England, Scotland, Wales, US or other places in Ireland. I ordered the fish & chips for EU 25.95. Over encrusting resulted in the internal texture of the fish to be very mushy. We've been to Ireland 5 times, staying from 2 weeks to 4 weeks, within the last 7 years and never had such a horrible dining experience. The waitress was attentive and did ask how our meals were. My wife and I discussed what we would say to the waitress that would make a difference and decided we would write a review instead. Our only complaint with her was the length of time it took her to give us the bill.More

Better food in chilli banana next Door or the mint leaf across from Fagans further down the road. And cheaper to!...Amazing that. People need to cop on to these places And stop the gouging for average Food, we keep paying they keep Putting the prices up. Dont get me started on the price of the Swill! 😂 Rant over 😉More

Had been previously and loved the food. Brought my family back for the same reason. We were seated immediately for our reserved time. It took 10 minutes to be acknowledged our overworked server, At that moment I had time to count she had 9!!! tables....I watched as she worked non-stop to keep up. Once she came to take out order for cocktails my husband had asked to speak to a manger. Meanwhile, a couple across from us had asked for their bill. We ordered our drinks and another 10 minutes went by .A man on a suit attempted to deliver a drink order to us. Unfortunately it was for the wrong table. After a long wait the drinks arrived and so did a man in a suit. What I did notice was that there were multiple suit-wearing staff members and one female manager near our seats. Our unfortunate waitress had her nine tables going strong with NO SUPPORT from management. Out manager came over to apologize, stating this was an unusual occurrence. I pointed out that out server had been crying which he blamed on "trouble at home". I pointed out she was completely overwhelmed with no support and was a sinking ship. He made excuses again and offered to get us a drink which came immediately. Amazing how he can make that happen! Again, we watched out order attempted to be delivered to another table by a blue-suited manager. I watched as the couple across from us asked 3 different servers/managers for their bill and never received it. In my opinion they should have left! Our food was delicious. The manager came over a few times expressing apologies and excuses. My thought was he did not want a bad review so he wanted to appease us. We informed him we did not want any compensation but to let him know how our server was overworked and had NO support. He had more excuses that she was only there for three weeks-- even more reason to me to support her. He did attempt to step in but that quickly ended. I believe having more serving staff and less suit-people who walk around with self-importance would help the Ivy. Overall I recommend the food. I would not return because of the way they don't support their staff. I was assured she would get the entire tip but don't believe she did. She deserved it.More

I have been here plenty of times, as it is one of the local places, however I have yet to have a good service experience here. Service is always awful, where staff don't look up. 5 staff for about 12 tables today and so many...dirty tables. Takes forever to get staff attention, and drinks always so slow.More

My family ate here during the Christmas holidays. The location is great and ambience was lovely. The menu has plenty of choice. I had the battered fish which was tasty and the batter wasn’t heavy while others had rib eye steak and chicken and no...complaints. They have a great cocktail menu also. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience for us all with friendly service and we will go back.More

Some friends and I visited the Ivy house for brunch, and although everyone seemed the enjoy the food, the service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. Our server was so rude that she created an awkward experience for all at our table. When one person...at my table asked if she could change part of a dish she was answered with “no”. Although we were constantly polite tryinb to make the situation less awkward, we were given short 1 word answers. Would go again for the pancakes if I could see who my server would be before sitting down for the meal.More

Was in the Bar last evening for a few drinks with a friend and business colleague. We're both locals and have been customers for years. Barman spent most of the time on the floor chatting with a group of his college friends. Bar lady came...in from the Lounge and almost threw two pints of Guinness at us - she didn't look very happy to be there. Worst of all was last orders were called at 11:10pm - another customer at the bar asked why the bar was closing 20 minutes early and the barman's response was "I could't give a f**k, I can't wait to get out of here" Don't think we'll be back..More

I visited the ivy with friends for food today. The decor and interior in the restaurant is lovely however the customer experience was terrible. The service was not friendly and there was no enthusiasm or warmth from staff. Our waitress was yawning when serving and...it appeared to be a major inconvenience when one member of our party wanted to pay with cash. She also demanded we hand her the plates rather than make an attempt to pick them up herself. The food was okay, the burger was nice however I had the wings and they were very bland. When my meal arrived I ordered a portion of sweet chilli sauce and it never came until I had finished my food and no apology was made. Very disappointed as we were regular customers in the ivy a few years ago but it has went downhill.More

Have been to the Ivy House a few times in the past both for food and nights out, but it’s been a few years since we were here. Decided to try it again on a recommendation from a friend who was raving about the food....We placed our order had our drinks and seemed to be waiting for ages for our food then another server came out and went through our order again? Eventually when the food came out we had to send it back, both main courses were cold. In fairness to the staff they were sincerely apologetic and took it away and returned shortly after with two new mains. Have to say the food second time round was delicious and cooked, this time, to perfection. Steak was cooked as ordered and fish tacos were really tasty. Will probably try The Ivy House again and hope for hot mains next time round.More
