Only stayed here 1 night but would have been very happy to stay more. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Building is in a conservation area so single glazed metal windows in the room with not too much soundproofing, I had no problems sleeping, but...I sleep well anyway.
Restaurant was a real winner, food was inventively designed and plated, and cooked phenomenally. Wish I could have eaten there again. Even if you are staying in the hotel, pre-book your table, it gets really busy!!
I rarely give 5 stars, but the Bath arms earned it.
Only tiny negative is wifi reception in the room was not great, but I was in the furthest away room, and the signal in the bar area tested at over 50mb... Purely an issue with thickness of walls in a building of this age.More
Birthday meal with family. Lovely decor, wonderful food, helpful staff but upon receiving the bill- we were over charged more than £100! Upon mentioning this to the staff they made amendment but with no apology which left a sour taste in our mouths despite having...had a super evening… It was overall a bit odd end to an otherwise great experience.More
I'm really surprised to see the service being criticised. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the food was sublime. We both had the lollipop prawn and pork to start, just the right amount and bursting with flavours. I had the Green Thai curry, my husband...had the lamb; both meals were cooked to perfection, so full of different tastes. The chef is amazing. Our only regret was it was our last night otherwise we would have eaten there again.More
Went here with a party of 4 adults and 2 children under 5. The menu was enticing and impressive. The food was very tasty and interesting with a kitchen which obviously prepared food from scratch and took pride in creating a nice meal.
Unfortunately we...were let down by the service. We ordered a coffee which never arrived, and when we followed it up the waiter just said 'it's not on the receipt'. I was told not to approach the bar and advised that it was table service only. Yet it was impossible to get the attention of the staff when we attempted to! As we were leaving, another party came in with a dog which jumped up on my 4 year old daughter which left her very distressed. None of the staff intervened. Then as we were leaving a waiter who was clearing the table asked how everything was. We said it was nice except that a coffee had not arrived. He looked down and carried on wiping the table without commenting. Not sure why he asked then?
It was a tasty meal in a lovely venue, but unfortunately soured by the bad experience of the staff. Given that we paid £87 in total for a lunch, I expect better.
The 3* review is not entirely accurate as it is not true that it was 'average' but rather that it was 4* food with 2* service.More
Brilliant from start to finish food, staff, venue ambiance. 10/10. We stayed in Wedmore about 6 miles away so looked for places to eat, we booked the Bath Arms. This was a special treat after a weekend in London with high end food and restaurants...this beautiful venue topped them all. Great food choice in all three courses I went for the chilli beef started (amazing) followed by the beef and ale pie and then the lemon posset. Every course was excellent staff were polite and knowledgeable no COVID limits but nicely spaced seating and staff all wearing masks. Best restaurant around will return .More
Stayed at n Cheddar for a couple of nights and this was the closest place to where we were staying. Food was good and staff very attentive. Limited veggie options for my wife but they were very accommodating in allowing something from thd on her...menus that she enjoyed. I had the fish and chips which was fresh and tasty.More
