Like all the restaurants in York, we needed to book to gain access. No problem: worth it. Pleasant staff, good food and much enjoyed. The portions were very generous. Altogether a very enjoyable evening out. Thank you.

We have been to many Cote Brasseries but this was the first time in York. Things started well, nice table, lovely staff, orders taken and drinks arrived quickly with starters shortly after and they were very good. Mains arrived, unfortunately wife’s lamb chops were ordered...pink but turned up raw? All the other mains were fine. We brought it to the attention of the chap looking after front of house and his response was excellent, I felt really sorry for him as he was so apologetic and it wasn’t his fault, he immediately reordered, said we wouldn’t be paying for it and offered us drinks! We also enjoyed our desserts? Things do occasionally go wrong and it is how they are handled which is important, in this case it was handled very well and we would have no hesitation returning?More

We have been customers of Cote for many years in London when we visit, and in York where we live. We have recently experienced two occasions, one in London and one in York when we have had to send back the steak because it was...too tough. The French onion soup was only warm and had obviously been standing around for hours before being heated up inadequately. It was glutinous and unpleasant tasting. The Tarte aux Pommes was a shadow of it's former self. It used to be a slice of reliably good dessert, with soft but firm pastry and good apple slices. The recent version was a flabby round affair with slightly chewy pastry and lacklustre, overcooked pommes. Like the soup it seemed to have been sitting around for ages until warmed up. I was willing to give Cote another chance after one unsatisfactory experience but now I'm saying 'Goodbye Cote, it was nice knowing you in your former glory'.More

Best experience we’ve had as customers in a long time. Really pleasant and helpful waiting staff - nothing was too much trouble. The food was nicely presented and lived up to expectations. We ordered a la carte, so waited a little longer for food, but...not a problem. Just to note that there is an optional service charge of 12.5 % added to bill.More

From the moment we walked through the door, we were made to feel welcome. The staff couldn't have been nicer - attentive, friendly and efficient. There was a varied choice on the menu, all at a reasonable price and the food was really good. (the...crab starter was amazing!) We asked for a break between the starter and main and staff went out of their way to ensure the main was served just when we wanted it. We were given a table for two, a little way away from groups on larger tables so even though you could hear people enjoying themselves, it didn't take over our conversation. Even though we live over 88 miles away, we would certainly consider coming here again for the overall lovely experience.More

We often visit different Cote branches but the wonderful service, lovely atmosphere and delicious meal we had here sets the York Cote apart from the others. A calm and friendly atmosphere was a relief from the extremely busy streets of York during the 2021 Summer...'staycation' and our waitress couldn't have made us feel more at home. Steak Frites was great as always!More

My family ate here during a recent mini-break to York. Whilst ordering the next table were complaining that the food wasn't hot - oh dear not a great start! Two of our party ordered the bourguignon and were a bit let down - the meat...wasn't good. Anyway we carried on to desserts which were better. When the bill arrived I was surprised to see an "optionl" tip of almost £20 added to thie bill. Who thought this was a good idea?!!! I purposely did not tip due to this and will never return.More

Really impressed with the menu and quality of the food. It is clean and you could choose where to sit. We booked in advance as it was for the dinner at the weekend and worried we would not get a table so had to settle...for a slightly earlier time, yet half the place was empty - perhaps they leave this for walk ins? Next time will chance this but will visit this chain again.More

Another excellent meal at Cote, they do the food well. It’s a chain but it is consistently good. Service was good and the atmosphere very nice. Would recommend any of the dishes we had, very enjoyable

Good menu and service, very attentive. I had Devon crab Maison, followed by Breton fish stew and finally tarte aux pomme. The food was very good although salt on the lettuce which was a bit tired with the Devon
