We booked here as a spur of the moment decision as wanted somewhere close to our hotel. I mentioned in the booking we were celebrating my wife's birthday and were welcomed with complimentary fizz on arrival which was a nice touch Really enjoyed all the...food and cocktails were really good. Overall feel it was really good value for money and would go back if we are in the area againMore

We had booked for Saturday lunchtime and were the only customers in the restaurant; having said that, this probably enhanced the experience. The service provided was outstanding: friendly, efficient and good-humoured. Lovely. The food isn't cheap by any means but each course was beautifully prepared...and served. Delightful. Overall, we would happily return.More

Maybe we are just county bumpkins but the London prices of this Sunday lunch seem a bit eye watering. We were phoned the day before and told we only had our 1300 table till 1500. Not a problem. We also politely reminded of this the...moment we walked through the door - which was a bit overkill. Firstly, lovely interior, packed tables and warm ambience. Just ever so slightly dampened by being seated next to the toilets. We ordered a chicken and a beef roast, having been told on arrival that the lamb had run out due to groups pre-booking. The food was swift in arriving. My beef was perfect, rare in the centre and done on the outside, topped with a massive Yorkshire pudding. But, oh dear, the veg was disappointing. A mound of crunchy cabbage was enhanced by it swimming in a delicious gravy but the potatoes were a total let down. They were par boiled but looked and tasted like they had been roasted for twenty seconds in a microwave. Not the five star food I expected for almost £20! We shared a plate of rather uninspiring cheese and downed our £25 bottle of wine (cheapest on the rather exorbitant wine list) and left. There must be a million places to get a great traditional Sunday roast in London - this is not one of them.More

We visited late on a Sunday afternoon and were a bit concerned about availability on some dishes but were were able to order our first choice of mains. The Scotch Egg stater was excellent and my beef Sunday roast was good rather than excellent. One...of our party had the lamb and found it a bit chewy. My chocolate brownie dessert was excellent. I would return to try the normal menu.More

This is an expensive restaurant, and as such the review is going to be more critical as the expectations were higher. We arrived and were greeted and shown to our table. The first thing to note is the wooden chair is very uncomfortable. I actually...envied my wife sitting on the padded bench seating. We ordered the wine which was nice enough. The menu is small and the starters are cold so the expectations were that they would come out quickly. They took longer to appear than expected, and were disappointing. I had the terrine. The terrine itself lacked cohesion and the flavours were overpowered by the flavoured cream in the centre. It featured burned crackling and bits of cherry tomato. All presentation and poor execution. The main was the venison Wellington. This had good flavour but the pastry was wet and mushy and generally unpleasant. When our plates were taken I was asked about the food and explained about the unpleasant pastry. The waiter simply said he was surprised as it was one of the best sellers. I appreciate that. You only find out how bad it is after you order it and attempt to consume it. No attempt was made at rectifying the issue. After we paid the bill we were offered a scoop of ice cream as a sweetener. Having paid over £130 for some pretty ropey food (2 starters 2 mains and a bottle of wine)I didn't think that was much of a gesture. Seriously, you can do better than that. Apparently the Wellington is the signature dish. Time to learn to cook it properly then. I mean really, you should be embarrassed. This restaurant promised so much, but delivered so little.More

From the outside it looks like a gastropub, but in fact it's a proper restaurant, serving what I would call contemporary British cuisine. Tried the Scotch egg, venison wellington and the cheesecake, and all were very interesting interpretations of the classics. Looking forward to visit...for Sunday roast, I've heard it's fabulous.More

The waiters were really friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. They have a small Menu and food is good. The pub has a good vibe. If you’re looking for something simple and good this is the place for you.

What a great restaurant. Lovely food (took ages to choose - whole menu looked lovely). Staff were super friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The photos don't really do it justice. A great location near Southwark station - and tastefully decorated.
