We were at Andi Oliver’s book launch about her traditional cooking , there were 165 covers all being served at more or less the same time and you could tell as everything was overcooked or dried out , there was also a “service” charge added...to our bottle of wine, the girl didn’t know how to do it without……they didn’t pour the wine so no actual “service” we were lucky enough to have a banquet seat but others were perched on barstools on small high tables !More

This place looks like nothing from the outside, but step inside and wow! It’s lovely. We went for dinner and took our dog with us. Fortunately they allow dogs in the bar area. There were about 4 tables and we were seated furthest from the...bar (see photo) On arrival, we helped ourselves to a couple of dog treats whilst we stood at the bar. They very kindly brought us a mat for our dog to lay on by the table and a bowl of water. Service was good but a little on the slow side. Staff were very friendly though. We both had the mushrooms to start which were lovely and then we had the fillet steak. Mine had a little too many fatty areas for my liking but it was well cooked and the chips were lush. We both finished the meal with the plate of chocolate. Chocolate lovers will enjoy this very much!More

One of the best bottomless brunches I have been to. The drinks flowed from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Excellent food, service and entertainment, I would highly recommend.

It was so horrendous it became funny before we got up and left. Service was terrible, drinks were meant to be bottomless, we waited 45 minutes before we got what they call a martini. It was bright pink, very sugary and undrinkable. No one had...more than a sip. We were palmed off with a white wine which was like water. The Abba act was only two women, thought Abba was a foursome. The dark haired lady could not have been less interested always behind in the dancing and clearly miming when she could be bothered to even more her lips. Total shambles I thought I had been transported back to a Butlins camp in the 70’s without the fun. Shocking so we left.More

Couple in 50's - touring Cotswolds. Pre-booked this restaurant for a Monday evening...a little worried it would be too quiet and without atmosphere... But the Daffodil does what it says it does...excellent food, service and environment is beautiful. Over half full and lovely atmosphere. It...was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and the handsome young man looking after us made us feel very welcome and special - thank you. It should also be about the food - starters of scallops, cheese soufflé, mains of monkish and beef medallions - puddings high quality. Our view is that the staff, including the kitchen team obviously, provided a 100% satisfying experience - we had a great time and I wish the Daffodil team the best for the future. Thank you for looking after us so well - great experience and great memories.More

We used to eat at the Daffodil before the changes. We were disappointed with the new layout it felt less intimate. The menu was greatly reduced which meant we struggled to find anything of interest and settled on bread for nibbles and a fish plate...to share. The bread was unappetizing and just tasted charred and was bland. The fish plate was a broccoli plate (it had a huge amount of it to make the plate full) and all of the seafood was overcooked. There was very little seafood on the plate and what was there was poorly presented and not cooked well. We were bitterly disappointed and after many pleasant times there, will not be returning. What was worse we advised the waitress, who spoke to the manager and they didn't even come and say anything....More

Have been coming to the Daffodil a few times in the past year. It never disappoints. Lovely quality food prepared fresh and hot. They always have a variety of menus and offers throughout the week. The bottomless roast is a firm favourite as well as...half price fizz and cocktails with the set menu on a Friday. We will continue to visit. Staff are professional and knowledgeable.More

Yeah - big change from pre pandemic. Food is average and mean potions but expensive. Of course this is irrelevant if the service is good and the experience great but the wait staff are inexperienced, undertrained and disinterested so hard to see what then point...of spending a lot of money here is.More

No lobster, no crème brûlée, waiter didn’t know, ordered but he had to come back and ask us to choose again (twice). Tried to charge us for the lobster anyway! Lovely dining room, but music volume maybe a bit too low? An apologetic waiter. At...£60 a head we’ll try other restaurants before considering a return here.More

We visited the Daffodil during a weekend break in Cheltenham and we were not disappointed. The building itself is beautiful and we really enjoyed the two course lunch at £16.95 a head. The restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere and our servers were efficient...but didn’t rush us. I would happily go again and recommend to others.More

We have just returned from Father's day lunch... I used to be a regular here when the head chef was Tom and they had a super Maître d'. Visited again after they both departed & the place was shocking, food was average but the service...was laughable. This was a few years ago. Should have been slightly worried when we were able to get a table for fathers day an hour before lunch, when everywhere else was booked up. It was a last minute change by us to go here, and i was comforted to be told by a colleague that this restaurant had once again been fit for purpose!! Wow how wrong this was. The service was not fit for service, the food not much better. Our table was on the mezzanine level where they used to have a cool bar. The tables were barely made up, very basic. We ordered some drinks. My daughter ordered a "cloudy" apple juice. Whilst waiting for the drinks to arrive i asked if we could have some bread. The waitress asked what type of bread we wanted, so i asked what choices did we have, which she replied they just had one type of bread, kind of odd question then. The drinks arrived, the apple juice was not "cloudy" the waitress didn't seem to know the difference. When we explained she said this was all they had. So we asked for an alternative drink. When this arrived my daughter asked if she could have a straw, to which the waitresses reply was "oh well i will have to go all the way downstairs again". As it was fathers day and i didn't want to ruin being with my family i decided to bite my lip and let this go. Bread arrived. We had no side plates to put this on so we had to use our napkins. Bread was rock solid. Starters arrived, three of which were soup. No soup spoons on table. We asked for this, to then only be given two spoons, which we pointed out. Main course a disaster. They waitress blamed the "printer' for the kitchen not getting the order. When food did arrive, this was average not great but also not a disaster. My son (aged 26) ordered another orange juice, they brought him orange squash. It seemed to us that the staff were untrained and not motivated to give a good service. Totally understand hospitality venues are struggling to recruit, but bringing in second rate staff just doesn't wash as they will not get returning customers if they have a similar experience. For us, we will not return again, i suspect the restaurant will not survive under current owners / management, so we will wait for replacements before considering again. It's a great shame as the building is or was beautiful. It would seem we are not the only ones to have had a poor experience recently, and the norm is for the restaurant to ignore or at least not reply to negative reviews, which in itself speaks volumes about the lack of interest by the owners. RIP DaffodilMore

Booked afternoon tea and the experience from start to finish was a shambles , food dreadful and lack of management presence to rectify anything . To date we have had no response from email and on the day as management were all on “a fag...break” together according to the waitress . Ineptitude , disgraceful food and complete lack of customer care . No refund on deposit paid and a complete waste of time effort and only upset stomach to experience . AVOID AT ALL COST Take a photo of the decor but stay at your own risk on a Saturday afternoon for afternoon tea. SHAMBLESMore

We recently visited The Daffodil with family and friends, a large table of 10 of us. Everyone loved the food - great choice to meet all tastes from the menu. Abbey did a great job looking after us all and meeting everyones demands. The ambience...was perfect and with the recent refurbishment the restaurant looked great. All in all a thoroughly great experience. Thank you.More
