This is my fourth or even fifth meal at EIC. Two were in a group (32 people) when we had the restaurant to ourselves for special events and the others as a couple or a foursome. The staff are able to deal with both ends...More

Honestly, you can only believe this place when you go! The service and the food are quite simply exceptional. It is exactly the same as you would get from a Michelin restaurant. It was an off-the-cuff decision and we were very lucky to get in...More

Went with a friend very last minute but managed to bag and early table. Very cosy in there. Lovely greeting made even nicer by the complimentary homemade soft drink on arrival. Food had excellent flavour, my lamb starter was super tasty. My friend thoroughly enjoyed...More

This is only the second visit we have made to this splendid establishment. A truly unique Indian restaurant extravaganza. Beautifully set tables set the mood for a dining experience which is really rather magical. On this occasion we chose from the a la carte menu....More

Having read the positive reviews and looked at the pictures of slightly over-elaborate plates I wasn’t really sure what to expect. This is a small restaurant with a small menu. It is very far from the standard “Indian” restaurant offering. Ingredients are expertly sourced and...More

Restricted hours opening means it's advisable to book in advance. Well worth the trouble because the food is absolutely delicious - first class ingredients blended with aromatic spices and beautifully presented. Service is very attentive and you won't be disappointed by your visit!

Love love love this place. It certainly was a fantastic experience. The taster menu (with drinks) took around 3 hours to get through, and I can say is that it was a well thought out and timed dining experience. I would highly recommend this to...More

The understated name and exterior hides an unusual, in a good way, Indian restaurant. The interior is more elegant than another Indian I’ve ever been to before. The food is more fusion than recognisable traditional U.K. Indian food and absolutely delicious. The portions are fine...More

I booked the table, paid my deposit for a group booking and did not really know what to expect. From first stepping into the restaurant, the service was first class. Nothing was too much trouble and all questions answered. The menu was intriguing but a...More

We did the 3 course menu and loved it. From reviews I’ve read they do not alter tasting menu, which is understandable I think.

Description
East India Cafe was established in November 2015. We opened the restaurant with the philosophy of bringing the techniques of mum's cooking into professional setting. We started researching the era of British Raj in Colonial India and brought those recipes back to life here in Cheltenham using modern cooking methods and our own twist. Our principle is to serve tasty food with a piece of history with it. This is not just a place to take care of guests hunger but also a place to come and relax with great variety of drinks and an evening of experience. For us research and innovation is an essential part of what we do with distinct attention to detail. We passionately believe in innovation and merge science with the art of cooking. Welcome to The East India Cafe, Cheltenham
