Awesome restaurant for groups.

This restaurant is very typical of the Lauriat Style “Imperial Dining”. I warn you that the comfort chinese food that you likely normally look for won’t be there. I had the “mantis shrimp”, the duck salad among the dishes. I just through the food was okay tasting and really was more of an acquired taste. It’s still a great restaurant but as I mentioned you have to be looking for a specific Imperial Dining style of eating that is more adventurous.

50% Off Promotion Makes the Meal Well Worth It!

We took advantage of the restaurant's 50% off dine-in promotion. Their hotpot remains one of the best in town. The fresh (not the typical frozen) meatballs and imported beef slices were delicious. The lobsters cooked in superior sauce were fresh and flavorful, despite a less than appealing presentation. The Peking Duck, however, was quite disappointing. For the 1st way, the duck meat tasted gamey, though the skin was fairly crispy. Even with the 2nd way of preparation, the gaminess persisted in the minced duck , and the use of fillers like minced jicama and fried vermicelli was noticeable. This is definitely not among the best Peking Duck in town. On another note, service was sluggish – numerous follow-ups were needed and the crew was slow or unresponsive. Even with these hiccups, food quality is generally above par. And while prices are on the high side, the 50% promotion makes the dining experience worthwhile.

Since Jan 1, 2020 this original Gloria Maris fine dining resto had new owners and be renamed. Taste now just ordinary but pricey for the dimsum noodle section. The wanton soup took 25 minutes. Am not sure when I might return again, the usual crowd has thinned out.

Gloria Maris went through an ownership change back in 2020 right around the start of the pandemic. It was good to see that they made it through and was still a busy restaurant on both the formal and casual sides. Overall their food was ok. Nothing memorable or to rave about. Too much batter or maybe lack of pork in the sweet sour pork. The Peking duck was presented, cut up and the wraps made for us. However there just was too much sauce inside. Service was reasonable. Plates swapped and food delivered in a reasonable cadence. What struck me as concerning was the air vents above our table. They were black and maybe hadn’t been cleaned in a long while. I know they were high on the second floor but in the back of my mind how much mold was blowing out? Or maybe the air conditioning wasn’t working as the swamp coolers we blowing in the corner.

Really Good Food

The atmosphere is nice and quiet here and the food is a bit expensive but it's well worth it. I ate here almost every week as a kid when we would visit my grandparents.

Solid duck!

Ate here for the despedida of my sister in law and was treated to a delightful duck course. We were well taken cared of, and they were nice enough to waive corkage. Will return!

Their staple sweet and sour pork is the best! Salted egg crabs was really gooood... but... the peking duck was so firm when we were there. It was like it was cooked twice. :/

Gloria Maris is my all time favorite Chinese Seafood resto.. fresh shrimps, crabs and garoupa are perfectly cooked exactly tge way i liked it. I always bring my visitors from usa here and oh how they liked it there! Highly recommeded!

Best dimsum in town

This is the place to have authentic dimsum with variety. Plan to arrive before the 12 noon crowd because despite the huge place, by 1215, its standing room only although turn over time is pretty fast. Best combination, dimsum with salted fish fried rice

Great Chinese Food in their VIP Rooms

Gloria Maris has plenty of room for Chinese Lauriat. First time to try their vip room good for private functions/meeting. There is a minimum for using the vip room, but the ambiance of the room is so fantastic. With the big chandelier for lighting, and a private toilet make it worth while. The table can fit 12 people. Food at Gloria Maris is good and tasty. I like the steam shrimp, fish and crab. Cold cuts and soup was great. There is also the roast pork and chicken. Very good for meeting. The vip room has a minimum charge which was within my consumption. Good for executive meeting.

Shabu shabu dinner

Nothing to rave about. Ingredients for the shabu shabu were all fresh, their chicken feet used to be really good, their Xiao Long Bao was not good and service was bad.

A sumptuous lauriat

A balikbayan classmate and his family were in town and they decided to treat us to this restaurant for dinner. It was a sumptuous lauriat of mouth watering dishes starting from cold cuts, to fish lip soup, steamed fish, shrimps, crabs, abalone, Peking duck, butche and mango sago. We occupied a function room for thirty people and we even had a short program with video presentation and short speeches and the place proved to be cozy, convenient and ideal for our activities. We did not have to go out of the room in search for a restroom as our own area had four individual cubicles (two on each side of the room) that were clean and neat for our use. Over all, it was an enjoyable and satisfactory visit complemented by the service of wait attendants that was prompt and efficient.
