Bangus Restaurant is a pescaterian’s paradise.
Specializing in Milkfish, its menu spotlights what Filipinos call Bangus (bang-ooze), the salmon-lookalike with the silverback and white belly that earned its name and unofficial title as Philippine National Fish, if there’s that. adranomous (born in freshwater, lives in the sea, returns to its birth environs to spawn) fish is beloved throughout the 7,000+ islands where it is cooked in multitude ways. Bonier than most of its cousins, it is prized for the thick layer of fab in its stomach.
Never had Fried Milkfish Belly with Sampaloc Candy Sauce and Crispy Kangkong (PhP394), an radical take on sinigang (sour soup) by incorporating tamarind, a traditional ingredient turned into a sultry sweet-sour sauce to coat and cut the richness of the fried fatty stomach. Each of the 6 cuts sits on a crisp breaded water spinach leaf. Quite an thrilling experience we had to order a second each of the 2 visits in the 7 days we spent in Manila.
Above dish was among choices in the Prime Cut (all belly) category that includes
Sizzling, Ala Pobre (supergarlicky), Bistek (in soy sauce and caramelized onions) and Paksiw (simmered in vinegar, top of the line at PhP399).
We wanted to see if our Filipino American restaurants interpret Bangus Sisig similarly, and they do, although some chop rather than mince the flesh. But the flavors are spot on. Here an order in the appetizer section is PhP378.
Stuffed with its own flesh sautéed in aromatics, Rellenong Bangus (PhP488) is a pain to prepare which makes it a celebration dish. Here it has a smoky undertone, hopefully not from Vienna sausage, a common ingredient in Philippine casseroles.
The menu is easy to navigate and servers – all wearing masks in the early days of the COVAD19 hysteria – are solicitous.
Vegans and carnivores can also have their fill here, but the star of the show is the fish whose name is on the marquee.

It's been quite a while since my last review with Tripadvisor (about 2 years ago) since I was busy at work. Having retired recently and now having a lot more time for family matters. I joined our group of two families for a lunch birthday gathering at Bangus Restaurant Greenhills, a Philippine-inspired restaurant located in the heart of the sprawling Greenhills commercial center, in the city of San Juan. I used to make reviews on places I visit but now it's time to digress to food, yes, Filipino food.
Bangus Restaurant specializes in dishes made of the Philippine staple fish called "bangus", hence the name of their restaurant. Any meat dish you can think of, they can make it using bangus as the main ingredient They offer fish meat as a healthier alternative to red meat, without sacrificing the flavor, keeping in mind their health-conscious customers and senior citizens who are among their loyal customers.
We had a generous serving of "Bam-I", their version of the fried noodle-based dish, popularly called "pancit" by Filipinos, oozing with generous portions of vegetables. We also had their version of "Kare Kare" and "Sisig", perennial staple dishes served in Filipino homes. We also had their ever-popular dish of bangus belly, consisting of yummy servings of choice cuts of the deliciously-fried bangus belly, served with tangy mango slices on the side. The surprise dish was the bangus fillet with salted egg, consisting of tender choice fillets of boneless bangus generously coated with crumbs made of salted egg yolk. This was my first time to taste this dish and this took my attention the moment I took a bite. The tender bangus fillet blended well with the richness of the salted egg, with its saltiness and buttery flavor tickling the tastebuds. This dish took the honors and stood out in the sumptuous lunch array. Generous servings of rice was also served, as Filipinos love to eat with rice. To top it all, Bangus Restaurant also serves glasses of "Guinomis", a cold drink which contains coconutmilk and other goodies ser ved with crushed ice, a dessert drink similar to "Halo Halo", another filipino dessert drink, and Japan's Kakigori, just perfect for the sizzling summer season. My romance with Bangus Restaurant was truly an unforgettable experience, providing a refreshing respite from the temptation of junkfood and tasty-but-unhealthy dishes. To put it simply ... Satisfy the gut without the guilt.... Cheers!

Bangus is the national fish (for eating though) so make sure to order this. If you're new to the cuisine, best to have a local guide you. Order the "crispy pata" and the green mango salad. For desert, try the local "guinumis".

When in Greenhills, this is place where we go for lunch. The Menu includes well-prepared vegetables and seafood. It is known for its "milkfish", hence the name. We usually order crispy pata (pork leg), sigarilyas (winged beans) in coconut milk, boneless bangus. For dessert, do not miss "tibok-tibok" (maja-blanca). The place is across a huge shopping center and situated along a row of other fine restaurants.

We were in Manila over a year ago and remembered how much we enjoyed the food at this restaurant. We're visiting again and were excited to see this eating place still at its original location. All the bangus dishes we ordered were cooked and seasoned perfectly. So good! On top of that, the servers were attentive, polite and friendly. It remains one of our favorites.

Looking for a place to sit and wait for a friend, we stumbled upon Bangus Restaurant. While checking the menu, the waitstaff offered unlimited coffee... so that sealed the deal.
We ordered Bangus (milkfish) prepared different ways-- dinaing (sliced in half and fried), and soured with vinegar and some eggplants.
Love the quiet atmosphere as we noticed senior citizens love this place. Newspapers are available and of course the overflowing coffee.

As mall food goes, this is one of the best. Many updates to Filipino dishes incorporating milkfish - a much better alternative to meats. Portions are generous and the price is reasonable.

had lunch with family and the food is still the same as good as before. Pity, they ran out of watermelon shake. Their fish fried lumpia, kare-kare, sigarilyas with coconut milk and the famous sinigang bangus belly is still so good. And the staff is great with all your orders.

Dear Mrdacillo,
We thank you for your visit and your review. We are glad that you appreciate the consistency in quality that we put into our dishes. We apologise for having run out of watermelon shake as it is much demanded by our customers (and we love it ourselves too!) and it also depends on the raw supply avaliable. We hope to have you again in Bangus Restaurant! Have a nice day!

If you love bangus, this is the place for you! All the bangus dishes are very good especially the "prime cuts" (bangus belly). But the specialty drinks we ordered like buko pandan, guinumis and sago gulaman were so-so. The servers were friendly enough and the prices reasonable. The breakfast menu looks good and tempting so we'll probably be back to try that. And we know what not to order next time!

Gotta love the Bangus Prime Cut Sinigang, Sizzling Bangus Prime Cut a la Pobre and Sizzling Sirloin Tapa. I remember that taste since the first time I had it years ago. Even until now, the taste is still there. Just how my late grandmother loved it so well.

The store is not a fine dining like a five-star class, but the food was very good. Not too much customers when I've been here, but most of them were in group. Yeah, the food was really a Filipino cuisine, and I loved that I tried eating here. Checked the branches on their menu as I need to try also to other store :)
The fish dishes was awesome, and the iced tea-not powdered was also great. Though, they should offer also that particular iced tea in bottomless. To clear it up, they have two kinds of iced tea, one is the powdered one (maybe the instant where you can see on groceries) and that's available in bottomless. The other kind is, the non powered iced tea(maybe their homemade) is just available with regular order. So we took the regular, to have a taste :)
Everything was good, even the staffs were nice. Ambiance is okay. And yes, will surely try it again :)
