We visited the Tav as a party of 4 for Christmas meal. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The meal was amazing! We opted for the Christmas menu with the option of 2 or 3 courses at a very reasonable...price. We all had different starter, lentil and ham soup, tomato and basil soup, pheasant spring rolls and cheese souffle. Everyone loved theirs. Next we opted mainly for the turkey with all the trimmings. The turkey was succulent and had lots of flavour. The plates were over flowing with roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls and lovely vegetables. One of our party had the venison and it looked so rich and apparently tasted wonderful. Desserts were to die for. Profiterol sundae, tablet cheesecake and amaretto creme brulee. I had the cheesecake and it was massive and tasted wonderful. We declined tea or coffee as we were all so full and asked for the bill. All of the food and drink ( they also do real ales and cocktails) came to under £110 for our party of 4 which I think is amazing value. If I have any complaint it is that the portions are too big! Will definitely be booking again soon.More

We had a lovely lunch with friends on Sunday. It is a warm welcoming place with very attentive staff. I started with excellent pate and moved onto what I thought was supposed to be a smaller roast beef and yorkshire pudding--certainly not small! moved onto...a huge apple crumble. I finished with an excellent cappuccino in a decent sized cup. We all left in agreement that we can't wait to return.More

We have lived near to Ardler for 11 years, heard nothing but good things about the tavern and always said we would go there. Somehow life got in the way but we eventually went tonight. I was impressed when I called to book, pleasant and...informative call and was asked if there were any dietary requirements. We didn't have any but it's quite rare that we get asked this when booking a meal, so top marks there. We were greeted on entry and shown to a nice table in the corner. Nice feeling place, decorated well and nice and clean. Very attentive staff and Roderick could sell snow to the Eskimos. We had starters and mains and the portions were a lot bigger than we expected. Damn tasty and super delicious. We both had to take a doggy bag home as not to waste any of it. As mentioned Roderick persuaded us to have dessert but didn't pressurise us. We both have eyes bigger than our bellies so we went for it! Rolled out of the place, very full, very happy and very thankful to the staff and chefs. Will definitely be back but maybe restrict ourselves to a 2 course meal....honest.More

the food was bang on what we ordered but my main delight about the day after a very long hike was the service of this young handsome man called andrew. He was a delight and honestly was the best service we have had in a...while. the owner felt a bit snide to us so we tried our best to ignore him but andrew was brilliant hopefully he goes far. As for the locals we felt right at home after all we shop at millets too and love people in hiking gear. Will 100% recomend love S.More

Myself and my wife were staying in the local area while on holiday and were looking for somewhere special for a meal to enjoy on our 19th wedding anniversary. I looked at various places around Dundee until I finally stumbled on this little gem of...a pub. A mark of how good a place is how busy it is and even on a Tuesday night it was pretty near full. Booking in advance is essential btw. When we arrived we were greeted by the Roderick who is quite simply the best host we've ever come across. Friendly, enthusiastic and passionate about his job. The food was absolutely amazing, huge portions and full of flavour. The Macaroni cheese was the nicest we have ever had anywhere. The price was really good for the quality and the food and in Roderick and the rest of the friendly team at The Tavern Ardler your guaranteed a great evening. Thanks to all there for making it such a great night. Ps, don't forget to ask Roderick about his cocktails either 😉More

This is a proper pub offering great beers and absolutely fabulous food. We dined there last week whilst walking the Cateran Trail and were blown away by the ambience, friendliness of the staff and the food. Glorious offerings and hearty, generous portions. A varied menu...with some unexpected high notes, such as the king prawns wrapped in filo pastry on the Specials board. But the overall winner was the Steak Pie. It was superb: tender, tasty steak in rich gravy and wonderful pastry atop. This is pub food at its very best. If you're anywhere near the area, please don't miss it!More

Couldn't get in the first time we tried so make sure we booked for the last night of our holiday. Gorgeous village pub. Very clean and feels very safe. Wonderful menu and utterly delicious food. So glad we managed to eat here in the end....Definitely worth a visit. Note you will end up parking on the road somewhere.More
