AMBIENCE
We decided to segue from the main road and find a new place to try. So we pulled up Google Maps for the closest pin to the most decent place, and behold, we found Old San Juan Hotel & Restaurant. Dine-in area was a wide and beautiful Spanish-style house on the second floor. We could occasionally smell the wood and tried knocking on some of the pillars and sliding windows. Everything was legit and those varnished surfaces were pretty sturdy! No wheelchair access was apparent but the stairs weren't that steep either. A piano, guitar and white capiz lighting added interesting touches to the overall look. A flat-screen TV was available. First challenge was the mosquitoes and if we turned on the electric fans, it was too cold for us and the food. If fans were off, second challenge was getting bitten.
FOOD
I'll jump straight to it. EXCELLENT! Ginataang Hipon was thick, creamy, tasty and served generously. It's good for two and we didn't need to order anything else. But of course, we had to try one more. Lechon Kawali was super good too! Skin was very crunchy like freshly popped chicharon (fried pork skins) and the meat was so tender I could easily cut with one utensil. Sauce wasn't even necessary!
SERVICE
We were welcomed by smiles and warm greetings. One of our servers helped us park properly. This isn't a common observation but I noticed another server smelled really good! No effort needed to take notice. Wait time was reasonable and we relaxed by appreciating the place and taking photos.

Old San Juan is housed in an old spaniard house, beautiful architecture and great food. They do have lodging facilities.
Both the floors of the restaurant serve good food and pastries, I loved the salads most, they had garden fresh vegs and fruits. Plus the best broccoli I ate in Philippines is in this hotel, ask for broccoli in garlic.
The interior is very beautiful, decorated with shells, an old piano, silver forks etc.

We were in our way to the beach to celebrate my wife's birthday, we decided to check this hotel and restaurant in San Juan
, Batangas. The place looks like an old ancestral house which has lots of antiquities in it, we ordered their best seller pork sisig and some other food on the menu, they were able to set food preparation time which is nice, I liked the sisig! Food price was affordable which is similar to food portions. The ambience would bring you back to the old days!

My wife and I really had an awesome stay here at Old San Juan. Its amenities and service are awesome, plus its food is sumptuous. Can't wait to stay here again when we visit Laiya!

We were looking for a nice place to have our lunch in San Juan and the customer feedback about the restaurant made us ignore this place. However, due to parking-related concerns, we ended up trying the Old San Juan's restaurant.
The place seems to be a legitimate Spanish era house upscaled to function as a restaurant. The wooden interiors and exterior finish gave some class to the place.
While the food generally tasted good (or above average if I would count my limited dining experiences in the area), the service crew seemed uninterested and untrained for the job. Food preparation indeed took some time without any advice from the server. People forgot about our utensils, they were unmindful while serving our food, and I did not witness any hint of enthusiasm from the crew.
And since food wasn't really remarkable, travelers might want to consider skipping this place.

The 12 of us tried their Lomi (native Filipino dish in Batangas), which you need to ask, and it was superb! Plus the price is just PhP150 (Around $3), good for 5 people. Definitely, we will come back.

Both the hotel and restaurant looks good but i wouldn't recommend it. The place is obviously far from the beaches and in 8pm there won't be any resto around the place. We ate dinner instead at the restaurant. Lots of food in the menu are not available. Ordered squid in chili sauce but it looks like frozen sliced squid that's not even served hot. We went around to find restos in the area but all are closed na by 8pm :( . Pool also looks dirty in the place. Landline phones in the room is also not working so we had to go down in the lobby for any concern. Room service for food from the resto will also be charged an additional 10%. Idk instead of giving us discounts because we stayed in the hotel. We somehow regretted our stay because we feel it is too pricey for the service and all.

We were tempted to dine at Old San Juan due to its nice facade and interiors. The food is not good and took some time to be served. The staff are accommodating though.

We had to fix papers at the local church so we stayed at this hotel since its only walking distance. Consistent with the local colonial time theme. Although the hotel has evident age, its clean and rooms are spacious. Breakfast is ok at the restaurant for local standards. Has a mini indoor pool but didn't have time to try it out. Staff is so-so. Can't really compare to other local hotels in the area since i only stayed once in the area.

after visit the beach and fisherman village, we drive back to downtown, on the way back, we went for dinner in one unique place, very nice interior design, with decorated by the sea shell over the door, the candleliar, old piano, and some unique vintage stuff.
we ordered shrimp with coconut sauce, the "wonderfull" shrimp cooks with black pepper ( i like it so much, signature dishes in this area i think), fried fish with soya sauce.
the price, very reasonable if compare with the service and the taste!.. good job chef!

It's my 2nd visit this year.
Entering the restaurant is like stepping back in time. It's distinctly Filipino and a landmark already in San Juan, Batangas.
The food was good but the restaurant is not equipped to handle several groups at the same time.
Service is not so good and the servers discourages additional orders because it will take long. So sad for the owners of the place.

The restaurant is housed in a relatively new building modeled after traditional Filipino homes. Builders made extensive use of architectural salvage and the building alone justifies driving out of your way for lunch or dinner.
The food is best described as "traditional Filipino" and the menu offers a larger selection of entrees than visitors might expect. On our last visit, my wife and I shared a tureen of pumpkin soup, a plate of garlic rice, and a platter of sweet and sour pork. Portions are huge and we could have fed three more adults. The price was reasonable (by western standards) and our lunch with a couple of sodas cost just over 700 pesos.
Everything except the rice is cooked to order and the service is understandably slow. We waited approximately 45 minutes even though only one other table was occupied.
There is a relatively small gift shop on the first floor and my wife always finds something of interest. This time, she found a pair of candle stands for which we paid just under 1,000 pesos.

After our stay in a resort in Laiya, we asked the staff where can we have a good lunch and this is the place that was recommended to us. This is a new place for us since we've coming here in Laiya and this is the first time we've heard of this name. When we arrived here, we were in awe of it's facade - that of olden days. There was a tall building at the back which was their hotel. The dining area was filled with wooden chair and tables. The ambiance was old Philippines setting.... no aircon too. The food was ok, prices are mid-range. The staff tho are not that attentive to their guest coz they were watching TV. I requested that they change the channel to the channel I prefer and they did give in to my request.... however, after a few minutes, they put it back to the channel they were watching. Worth the try
