With the pandemic situation, we had not been to a restaurant for 4 months. But we had a very special occasion to celebrate so we wanted a special dinner somewhere we would feel very safe and comfortable. Bonfire was our number 1 choice. Due to the circumstances they were taking reservations so we were able to reserve a table for our dinner. Ann Lynn was our server and she was as caring and efficient as always. She definitely added to our celebration. The kale and butternut squash salad we shared. It was as good as we remembered. The beef tenderloin was done medium rare as requested.......flavourful and melt in your mouth tender. I had never tried the Manitoba chicken breast with fig, sambuca, and goat cheese. It was amazingly good! The fresh vegetables served with the dinners were so good....asparagus spears, carrots, zucchini and rutabaga. Butter tarts with caramel and whipped cream finished off a fabulous evening! Bonfire is one of the best restaurants in Winnipeg......if not THE best!

Service and quality of food is always top notch at Bonfire. Getting to know the staff here we feel very comfortable dining here and especially now that proof of vaccination is required. I do miss the grilled Irish soda bread they used to serve. The sour dough was okay but not as good. Salad was crisp and fresh and big enough for two to share. The Manitoba chicken on their regular menu is spectacular both in presentation and flavours (fig and goat cheese). I am not a potato fan but there was no problem getting it served with rice. Fresh veggies were excellent. Pasta specials are always interesting and tonight’s was hot and spicy…..chorizo, red pepper, chicken, scallions, black sesame seeds with chili cream sauce. Pear and prosciutto pizza was awesome as was the Margarita with the addition of kalamata olives!

There were four of us and we ordered the prociutto & pear pizza, a Greek salad, a chicken fettaccini, and the organic salmon. All were nicely presented and extremely flavourful. This was followed with a pear & apple cobbler with a vanilla/caramel ice cream, a chocolate crème brûlée, and a strawberry cheesecake. I had previously tried this establishment more than a decade ago. Since this was my first time back to Winnipeg, I thought I’d try again. I and my guests were certainly impressed. Thank you

We have been frequenting this restaurant for several years and have generally been pleased overall with both the meal and the service. Our last visit, a Thursday evening, left us with the feeling that we would not be anxious to return. I had a pasta special in which the pasta was sticky and the meal lacked flavour. I suspect the chef forgot to salt the water in which the pasta was cooked. The fish in the dish my wife selected was overcooked. Her dish was also an evening special. Another member of our group also commented on the stickiness of the pasta. On top of the meal quality the main course took over half an hour to reach our table in a room that had empty tables. On the positive side, the soup special was delicious. I do regret not returning the meal immediately but I have since contacted the restaurant, outlining the problems we encountered but have not heard back from either the chef or the manager.

I went into Bonfire as a person who has served for years and gives the benefit of the doubt to other waitresses when I see they are busy. Bonfire bistro destroyed that. The server was indifferent and terrible, she couldn’t be bothered to even slightly ask any questions if anything was good, completely forgot my husbands dessert and didn’t even bother to follow up and ask if everything is okay. I will never return to Bonfire Bistro and I don’t recommend it to anyone who wants to have an enjoyable night out.

Ordered for take out due to covid. So important to support the restaurants at this time. We so enjoyed our dinner! The kale and mixed green salad with feta, butternut squash, mint and apple, pickled onions.......it was amazing. Bonfire Pizza is the best if you like a thin crust. My favourite is the prosciutto and pear, with fig, balsamic and blue cheese. Fabulous flavours! The Mediterranean vegetable pizza was also excellent. We were so happy to enjoy a meal from one of our favourite restaurants. And the bonus was Ann Lynne brought out our take home package! Plus all containers used were recyclable!

The food is excellent, the service is stellar. Love that they take reservations. Place was packed when we arrived. Wine special was a Sisters Run red blend…..really nice and reasonably priced. Shared the kale and butternut squash salad which is always yummy. The gnocchi with braised beef was a new dish for us to try. The Manitoba chicken breast with goat cheese and fig was good…..a favourite. I asked for something other than potatoes with it and it came served on mushroom risotto. Presentation was great. Kudos to the staff for making dining out such a good experience!

This place gets fairly busy at dinner time during the week. They have a fair amount of tables as well as seats at the bar.
I ordered the Gnocchi, with braised Beef Short Rib and an order of Grilled Sourdough.
The Gnocchi was well prepared, with the Beef Rib being very tender. The dish had good flavour and was very rich and filling. I enjoyed it. The Grilled Sourdough was excellent and would make a great accompaniment to any pasta dish.
Service was good, friendly and casual. Prices were reasonable.

Met friends at Bonfire for dinner. Love that the bistro is taking reservations these days. Service is always terrific and so os the food. Can’t say enough about the butternut squash and kale salad. Big enough to share and so yummy. Our friends shared the mussels that were one of the night’s specials. They said they were very good. Pizza is always a good bet. Margarita with kalamata olives was great as was the prosciutto and pear. And don’t miss out on the carrot cake!

The food at Bonfire is consistently excellent! Had dinner with the family- pizza, and 2 pasta dishes. All were delicious- hot and super tasty. I tried the special of chicken stuffed pasta ( similar to a ravioli) in a cream sauce and it was wonderful. Service was fast and attentive. An excellent evening!

I went there with my mother for my birthday last night as I saw it recommended here. The restaurant is divided into 2 sections. When we arrived we were greeted by one of the owners actually who asked if we had a reservation, which we did not. She had 2 tables available, one elevated, and another in the corner for 2 people, which we took. I ordered grilled sour dough bread with the spinach fettucine, my mother ordered the braised lamb shank. When the food arrived it was very well presented and hot. My mother loved the lamb shank as she is a fan of lamb. It came with risotto with mushrooms and vegetables which I tried some and had an abundance of flavors. The spinach fettucine was so flavorful, it was one of the best pasta dishes I had ever had!
I highly recommend this restaurant as the food quality is 5 star!

Restaurant owners who use the word "Bistro" usually do a pretty good job of it. The word Bonfire gave us pause but we looked at the TripAdvisor reviews and decided to go for it.
We could not have been more pleased with the food , the service and the welcome. The pizza was terrific and the pork tenderloin that was the night's special was absolutely outstanding. A good selection of wines, a tasty dessert that we shared and terrific service. A winner in Winnipeg!
