Delicious food and so incredibly cheap. It is in a really sketchy area but worth the venture. Tacos are authentic and fresh. Two of us came out stuffed to the brim for under $30 including tax, tip and a drink. Amazing! It's a tiny whole in the wall and you'd miss it if you don't look carefully. We actually drove past it 2 times before we realized it was the restaurant we are looking for.

Delicious Authentic Mexican Tacos (and they can make them vegan)!

I visited Sargent Taco Shop on September 8, 2020 for dinner. This is a simple eatery serving authentic Mexican snacks or “antojitos.” They don’t specifically have any vegan options on the menu but you can ask for something to be made vegan and they will gladly do it! I ordered the three veggie tacos - mushroom, nopales and rajitas - requested no cheese and they substituted avocado instead. They all tasted delicious and flavourful! They are only doing take-out at the moment due to Covid but you can walk up and order inside and the service was very fast. The staff were friendly and prompt. Love this hidden gem and hole in the wall place and will be back for more Mexican food!

Tasty tacos

Very flavourful, but small tacos. Actually, the tastiest I have ever had. I had three tacos and took the platter option which came with rice and beans. Still felt a little hungry afterwards. Very friendly staff. Would be nice if they recycled in the store and stopped using styrofoam and plastic utensils.

Ripped off place

Local person from the Westend of Winnipeg. Decided to support this local business, since we are Indigenous so wanted to support another Indigenous Latino place. Picked up, then got home did not have one of the meals we ordered. Instead of offering to drop it off we had to go back again. Didn't even give us a freebie for the inconvenience and their mistake. Would not order from here again

Food was good and service was fast but portions were so tiny, more lunch or snack sized. Tacos were 3 bites. Wouldn't go back.

This place wasn't open

Found this place on google and was very excited to try. Our cab driving took us here directly from the airport and didn't want to leave us alone, in the neighborhood. Ended up being this place wasn't even open.

REALLY good!

Great little hole in the wall. Tacos and Saturday soup were superb. Great variety; we particularly loved chicken mole with friend cheese. Only “negative” would be the “meal” option. $3 gets you a can of pop and very small dollop of rice and retried beans (although definitely better than the stuff you get in cans). Interesting but didn’t add much to the meal. Will definitely be back!

Waited quite awhile to make it here but I wish I’d gone sooner! This place is always bumpin’ and the options go on & on. Please do yourself a favor and get in here!!

Sargent Taco is a very small restaurant with only two tables and a few counter seats. However the food is very good and reasonably priced. And the service is quick. When buying 3 tacos you can chose three different ones instead of three of the same type. The pastor, chicken, chorizo and pork tacos were all very good. The refried beans were also good but could have had more chips with them. We would definitely go back.

Best Tacos Ever

My wife and I went here by accident because we wanted to try Mercadito Latino which is also on Sargent but when we arrived the sign on the door said closed until August 16 I believe. We heard that Sargent Taco was supposed to be very good as well. Not easy to see from the street as the sign is rather small. Very informal place so don’t expect much as it only has 2 tables and 4 bar stools at the window. Food is great best tacos. I had the chorizo tacos and my wife had the chicken tacos we both added for $3 the rice refried beans and drink. Everything was excellent.3 tacos for $7 . 4 people were working here looks to be a family business and were friendly. Felt like we were back in Mexico especially with the music playing. Hope they do well and maybe expand to a larger establishment. 5 stars !

Hands down the best tacos I’ve ever had outside of Mexico. Better than some I’ve had in Mexico. The place is nothing fancy by any means. There’s limited seating but well worth the trip if you’re missing a taste of Mexico.

Excellent Tacos!

I decided to try out this place because of the great reviews it has and they are definitely true. The tacos are amazing, real Mexican food, real Mexican tacos with soft tortilla. They also offer different types of salsa and habanero salsa which it's really spicy. Prices are extremely reasonable. If you want to eat there, just have to be patient and wait for a table or a seat, since the seating area is very small but so worth it to wait. Tongue Tacos were amazing, as well the al pastor and chorizo. Excellent service. Definitely coming back next time we are in Winnipeg. They open at 11,30am, not sure why trip advisor shows 11am. Highly recommend this place. You won't regret it.

Fresh and authentic

We were fortunate enough to visit on a Saturday when Posole was available and it was every bit as delicious as we had heard. We also thought the chicken mole tacos were great. And it all felt so delightfully virtuous. Yes it was Mexican but both dishes had so many fresh veggies and there were no heavy cheeses or sauces covering everything up allowing the authentic flavours to really shine. Look forward to going back.
